Grey Hat was born out of my desire to join the S.C.O.R.P.I.O. super group. I'd seen a few of the characters around for a while, and after looking up the group on VirtueVerse it seemed like a fun group of people. I didn't want to just be the gun toting hard ass, though. They most certainly had those, played by people who could pull off the persona much better than I. I'm also not too knowledgeable with all of the subject matter, so it would benefit me to have a character as lost as I am. Thus the idea for Patrick was born, just another nerd who suddenly finds himself thrusted into a world much larger than himself.

History
Brian was born with a silver spoon in his mouth into one of the richer areas of Orange County. His father a software designer for the budding virus protection market, the boy spent a lot of time learning about computers from a young age. The childhood hobby would turn into an obsession and by the time Brian was ten it seemed he would be following in his father's foot steps. Every time a new version of his father's software came out he spent hours finding every hole, every exploit, pouring over lines of code to discover every vulnerability. It got to the point where Brian was forgoing sleep to look into the newest hacks and cracks, and soon after he was diagnosed with OCD.
As he grew into his teen years Brian's interest with computer securities, especially how to bypass them, grew. He started trying out little challenges for himself like breaking into his high school's server just to see if he could. The fascination only grew, and he had to try bigger and bigger targets, becoming a bit of a legend around the internet as the hacker 'El Diablo Verde.' Around the time Brian was graduating high school he bit off a bit more than he could chew, and got tracked as he poking around the IRS network.
Federal agents showed up at Brian's school the next day, taking the boy out in hand cuffs. El Diablo Verde had worked up a fair share of cyber crimes on his record, and now they finally had the man behind the psuedonym. They offered him a choice, jail time or coming to work with the feds. It seemed the best way to battle the cyber criminals was with other criminals. It wasn't a very difficult choice to make, Brian moved to Quantico, Virginia the day after his graduation to begin training with the FBI.
He received basic field training and fired a gun for the first time in his life in the range, but never actually used it in the line of duty. Most of his time would be spent tracking and interfering with cyber criminals, while all the while improving his own repertoire of skills to both safeguard and penetrate complex systems. It wasn't long until he was recognized as one of the most skilled 'cyber agents' in the bureau, catching the attention of the special ops group known as S.C.O.R.P.I.O.
Personality
Brian is a good natured man, if a bit focused. He was always socially awkward in his younger years, but his work with the bureau has helped to get him to open up a bit more. He's a very fun loving individual, and generally laid back unless it comes to his work where he focuses to the point of drowning out all other distractions and driven to the point of going without food or rest.
