When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said, "Son, when you grow up,
Would you be the savior of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?"
He said, "Will you defeat them,
Your demons and all the non-believers,
The plans that they have made?"
"Because one day, I'll leave you
A phantom to lead you in the summer
To join the Black Parade."
The Gun of Encouragement.
After a rocky childhood and constantly having to choose one of his parents over the other, Gunny Memphis LeVite considers him the bottom of the barrel. He places all others above himself, and will go to any length to protect them; he's a brick house and can take a punch just like one. So far, he's remained the only member of his family to never lose a fight. As a matter of fact, he's never even been injured. His peers call it luck, but Gunny and his parents know the truth. His aunt Molly sold her soul and offered him protection from harm. It kept his mother safe when she was pregnant with him, and has kept him safe through seventeen years of his life. Constantly weighing on the minds of himself and his father is the possibility of the magical aid wearing off by his eighteenth birthday.
Gunny is respected by few, and looked up to by even fewer, and he considers this normal. He's failing his way through school, and spends a lot of time in detention for beating up the kids that pick on his younger siblings. He'll be entering his senior year of high school in September, and isn't on track to graduate. Education isn't his top priority. His dreams aren't for himself to succeed, but for the success of his friends and family. He doesn't plan on becoming a martyr for them, but will be their foundation should they need it.
He has inherited some small degree of super strength from his father, but most of the strength he possesses he worked hard for on his own. Gunny is extremely loyal to his workout routines, and spends a good portion of each day lifting heavy things and headbutting a concrete wall. Gunny has minor control over cold manipulation as well, and can form weapons of solid ice to help him in combat. He's also able to fly like the rest of his siblings.
- Vest.
- Gunny found the old leather jacket that Lia MacKay made for his dad. It was locked in a trunk in the underground Church of Cyprus. One sleeve was sliced up, and the other was partly shredded. He took the jacket and removed the sleeves, and now he's only seen without it while doing hero work.
- Armour.
- The armour's really mostly for show. Gunny doesn't need anything to keep him safe, but his girlfriend thinks he looks good in his crime fighting gear, so...
- Mask.
- The mask keeps Gunny from breathing in any icky stuff, and also has a built in Willtech H.U.D. Also, it makes him look badass.
- Boots.
- Perfect for stomping and kicking.
- Beard.
- Grew it himself.
Dee: Gunny's half-sister is a mischief maker to the extreme. He's taking a big risk by not arresting her and turning her in to Sheriff Wesson back in their home time.
Max: Gunny's boygirlfriend. The two were tricked into dating by Adam Creed, who claimed to see the future and told them that their union was inevitable. He was lying, but only in a sense. They did end up together, after all.
Dad: Mentor to the extreme. While Gunny's father in the present time has more than a handful of issues, in the future he's a father figure to everyone. He started the Chrono Knights, which Gunny is proud to be a part of. He never hesitates to address his father as "Sir."
Andy: Uncle Andy was put in charge of Gunny's punishment when he told a 'your mom' joke. Andy took Gunny to a concrete wall and has had him headbutting it for a long, long time. Because of this, Gunny is pretty thick-headed.
