Heart of delirium
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
``Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me
...
These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real
There's just too much that time can not erase``
My Immortal by Evanescence
The idea for the character Heart of Delirium came after reading through the "Sandman" series, by Neil Gaiman. While the background story and the basis of the characters powers are my own creation, the basic behavior and personality-traits are borrowed from the Delirium character of his series. These traits are subject to alterations as the story develops.
All information in the Hero-box is accessible through the Paragon City Hero Registration system.

Biography
Little is known about Delirium before showing up in Paragon city a short while ago, though vague references to running away from home seems to suggest something significant happening to her at the age of 6. She was quickly picked up by the Temple of the Wilted Lotus, and spent some time there, before encountering the puppet know as Lone Marionette. Lone Marionette, also known as Mary, has since become an important factor in her life, and when Mary joined the crew of the airship Tortuga, Delirium was quick to follow. She has since struck up friendships with several of the other crew-members, and feels she has finally found a new home.
She has recently encountered the astral projection of a small child that goes by the name of Yumekun, and has become inspired by his role as a defender of dreams to take up a similar role, now acting as a ``defender of the places that are not``. This role is taken from her own close connection to the worlds that only exists in peoples heads, and is therefore considered unreal or non-existent by most.
Delirium has recently returned, after vanishing for an extended period of time. The disappearance is related to her self-proclaimed role as a defender of the worlds that only exist in the imagination of others. Having sensed some form of disturbance in the dimension where these worlds existed, she left Paragon City and the real world behind, to fight whatever was causing this disturbance.
Since her return she has signed of from the Tortuga crew, and returned to the Temple of the Wilted Lotus. This coincided with her starting to gain greater control of her powers, as the mental block keeping her powers subdued began to crumble.
This emerging control, along with the pressure put on her by certain events surrounding her adoptive mother Alicia, has now lead to a permanent change into her more serious and mature personality, and the return of the memories of what happened prior to her personality-split. After the return of these memories, Elizabeth as she called herself now went on another journey, returning to the location of her first home. The house was still there, though the psychic outburst from her escape, and the long time between the two events, had left it mostly collapsed.
Returning to her home, and her adopted family, she continues the search for something that will give meaning to it all.
Post-Homecoming
Now old enough to be a fully registered hero in her own right, Elizabeth has taken up patrolling various sections of Paragon City, primarily Kings Row and Steel Canyon. In addition, given their currently unknown status, she is spending a significant amount of time seeking any news or signs of her adoptive family.
more to come as the story develops or is revised
Personality
Elizabeth seems on the surface to be a kind girl, often seeking the company of those she believes to be lonely, and always speaking in a fast paced, enthusiastic voice when introducing herself to strangers. Around close friends or family however she will become more reserved and quiet, more frequently just listening to the others speaking than voicing her own thoughts or opinions.
Powers
Delirium is a highly powerful telepath and psionic, though her split personality means most of her powers used to be controlled subconsciously, through talking to what she believes to be a living toy-kitten carried on her shoulder. After her return to sanity however, she has now regained full control of all her abilities, as well as a marked increase in her level of power.
As a result of her psychic ability, any attempted intrusion or manipulation of her mind will be extremely difficult and risky. This is partially due to her mind existing as two partially separated entities, a fact that may cause bouts of paranoia or insanity in weaker minds as they try to deal with two individually different, yet merged mindscapes.
Her teleportation ability has recently developed to the point where she can shift between dimensions, in addition to moving within her current dimension.
Weakness
While her telepathic powers has rendered any psychic attacks all but impossible, Elizabeth is physically of bellow average strength and combat capability. As such, she has no real way of withstanding a direct attack outside the armor designed for her by the Tortuga crew, and even with it can easily be thrown around by anyone of above-average strength should they get the drop on her.
Life as a Hero
Video Clip taken from a security cam in a Striga Isle warehouse
- Clip starts with heavy footsteps moving closer. Shortly after part of a conversation can be heard and after another four seconds two heavy-set men dressed in the traditional suit and hat of the Family enter the picture.
- Voice 1: ....ready to move out? The trial is tomorrow, so the plan has to go through soon. The boss is depending on us getting the judge frightened.
- Voice 2: Yeah, they're ready. Got them waiting around the house, they just called telling me he's arrived on the scene. Just waiting on you to arrive.
- Voice 1: Good. Just need to take care of some last minute.....
- Both men stop dead in their tracks, as the camera pans to show a hallways filled with five similarly dressed men. All either unconscious, or catatonic. They quickly draw weapons, proceeding to search the immediate area.
- Voice 1: Shit.... what happened here? Think it was a cape?
- Voice 2: Must have been. And not even a mark on them.
- A high pitched voice, probably a child, seems to come from just outside the picture.
- Voice 3: Oh.... hello. Didn't think there were more of you in here.

Relations
Kakani Ominou
Another close friend, Delirium has taken to calling her by the title Onee-chan, after being told it means Big-sister. She is the second person to earn Deliriums complete trust, and the first to be called by a term related to family.
Crimson Bliss/Alicia Lang
While never mentioned among Deliriums list of friends, it is easy to see that this woman is very important to her. Since first accepting her into the temple when she arrived in Paragon, Alicia has atleast in Deliriums mind become something of a surrogate mother, taking care of her whenever she feels lost or alone.
Has become Elizabeths adoptive mother, and the only one she has told the full history of her past.
Sam and Grace
Elizabeths sisters by adoption. She holds them both in high regard, and after returning to relative sanity, she is now trying to act as what she believes a big sister should be.
Radiation Man/Dominic Banks
Elizabeths closest father-figure.
Henry and Anne Fields
Elizabeths biological parents. While they during the first years of her life took good care of her, the revelation and development of her psychic abilities caused them to eventually fear and despise her. When she was six, her father wanted to have her commited to an insane-asylum.
Her mind allready in a weakened state from the stress put on her by the uncontrolled telepathic abilities however, was unable do deal with the fact of her being taken away from the most important people in her life, causing the personality split and subsequent psychic outburst that destroyed her home, killing her parents in the process.
Katarina Tepeste (Praetorian version)
Recently met, after she started cooperating with Alicia. While she is aware this is not the same Kat that made an attempt on Alicias life, she's still distrustfull towards her.
