Hiro Pyre
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
"Hiro Pyre is not my birth name. I am Japanese, but was born in the United States of America. So I was born with a regular Japanese-American name, but my grandfather (who lived with us) wanted me to be named after Hiroshima, to honor the tragedy upon our family line and the destruction of the great Japanese power. Ninjitsu-ryu has been secretly passed through my family for the last eight centuries, but I shall not waste this knowledge as my father did. I shall have my vengeance (adauchi) upon the United States of America, for my grandfather, and for the Rising Sun. I will be the spark of the coming funeral pyre.
In the streets of the Rogue Isles and in Paragon City I shall lead my newly formed Buzoku, Clan Pyre, and we will develop our strengths with each kill, whether it is Chinese Sorcerors or America's Elite Longbow. I have joined with the mighty organization, The X-Patriots, and with all their power and support I will prepare my strike. I will strike at America's Guardians, the Freedom Phalanx, and build a pyre of their heroes. Vengeance will come from the shadows."

Historical Backstory
Raised in Paragon City as a child, with his parents who had came from Japan when they were first married. His grandfather came to live with them shortly after he was born, and became the single most influential person in his life. His mother and father were always busy running their business, while his grandfather taught him the family tradition of ninjitsu-ryu. Along with learning many skills of a warrior and assassin, his grandfather told him stories of the battles he had been in during the war when he was but 18 and 19 years old, taught him of the Japan he grew up in post-World War II, and about his ancestors that were killed at Hiroshima.
Developing a great dislike for the super-power country of the U.S.A., it's corruption of politics and capitalism, and it's arrogance of Policing the rest of the world, his parents initially thought he was just a rebellious teenager. He continued growing more and more distant from his parents, but he still lived at home while attending Paragon University and studying Political Science. After the death of his grandfather, he moved out on his own, and soon dropped out of school.
Training religiously and speaking to the other Japanese descendants in the area, he soon gathered a following. Living in an area dominated by members of the Chinese Triad, then later the Tsoo Clan, it was easy to get the few Japanese college students and teenagers together, where he trained them in self-defense, and taught them how to avoid people by slipping through alleys, staying in the shadows, and walking without making noise. They would hang out and talk about politics, or for 'fun', sneak through the woods of Perez Park at night. Those closest to him he began teaching skills in the weapons of their heritage, such as archery and swordsmanship. He did not want his name spoke around anyone outside this group, and he soon became known as The Descendant of Hiroshima.
During this time he personally linked up with a gang of Hellions and began working with them. While making money from varied criminal acts with the Hellions, he also grew his list of contacts and informants. Rebelliousness turned into a study in anarchy and sabotage as the years went by.
Paragon City, the city of Heroes and Statues of their fallen, Hiro saw as the embodiment of America's corruption and greed. Spending money on statues, while crime proliferates the streets that the innocent citizens populate. During one of several sabotage operations against the infrastructure of Paragon City, he was placing a bomb at the base of a statue, just west of City Hall in Atlas Park, when he was surrounded by a group of Longbow operatives. Having water on all sides left him with no where to run, so all he could do was fight it out. The Longbow troops used their brutal force to pummel Hiro past submission, with severe contusion over most of his body and lacerations on his face they transported him to their Freedom Corps HQ without medical treatment, before turning him over to the Zigursky Prison.
With Statesman and his Freedom Phalanx overseeing the corruption of Paragon City, and the brutal, militaristic Freedom Corps providing enhanced protection to the United States, Hiro Pyre's revenge found a focal point in those two groups. The injustice that was caused when his great-grandparents and family’s heritage was obliterated in an atomic blast will not be forgotten nor forgiven. Vengeance is the only true justice Hiro deems appropriate for those that defend the atrocities caused by the United States of America.

Hiro Pyre was my second character to reach level 50, and while he was shelved for a while, he is fairly active now, and is the primary character in my role as the Commander of The X-Patriots. At the start of Issue 11s release, Hiro Pyre-shu (Master/Lord Hiro) was created as simply a re-creation of the same RP character. With Issue 13s new ability to have dual builds, the Mastermind has a second build focused as a debuffer, resembling something closer to a Trick Arrow / Archery powerset combo.

Vengeance
Vengeance (Adauchi!)
Hiro Pyre crouches on the overhead railing that leads away from the docks on Sharkhead Isle. His long dark hair that is kept pulled back in a ponytail blows around in the cold wind that cuts through the Rogue Isles at night. Dressed in black, his dark sash fluttering, no one knows he is there cloaked in the shadow from the lights below. The lower half of Pyre’s face is covered, and his right cheek has the ever-present red war paint that covers a jagged scar, but his brow is visibly furrowed in anger. At the end of the pier is a Longbow safe house, the target for tonight.
Waiting for any passerbys to move on, Hiro Pyre descends to the street level and two individuals clad completely in black join him, while three archers in gray martial-arts outfits step out from behind a dumpster. The six warriors running on the padded balls of their feet, leap to the docked barge, and then single file slip down a dangling rope into the water. Moving with extreme control, they swim along the edge of the cement pier, only their heads disturbing the water surface. It is a long, slow swim in the cold, dark water, but they avoid the unnecessary fight with several groups of disgruntled miners that are standing by the water front warehouses. The end of the pier is clear and Clan Pyre rapidly ascends and closes around the personnel door of the last warehouse. A quick lock pick job and the six warriors slip inside undetected.
The Intel Hiro Pyre received is correct; this is the safe house and Longbow Officer’s Club, evident by the large Freedom Corps emblem mounted on the wall. He peers into the first room, and two female Longbow agents are standing in the lounge area conversing, while a large flatscreen TV plays on the far wall. The blonde one complaining will be the first one to die, but the brunette will follow mere seconds later. Pyre directs with only a few hand signals and Shadou-ken and Kira-shadou, dressed in their traditional black ninja attire, move along the right wall making not a single noise. Keigo and Hogosha crawl across the floor in what looks like a push-up in the down position with their knees spread wide. Their torsos are off the floor 8 inches and only their hands and the balls of their feet touch the surface until they reach the back of the couch, in the middle of the room.
Standing at the edge of the fower, Hiro Pyre slowly exhales as he draws his bowstring tighter. An arrow is released and flies straight at the floor in front of the blonde Longbow agent. It impacts with a spectacular flash. Before she can even see anything besides brilliant white she is struck by shurikens from Keigo and Hogosha, and two black clad ninjas are beside her cutting into her vital organs with their blades. The brunette ignites her flamethrower without even being able to aim and Hogosha’s grey left sleeve is engulfed in flames, along with the light tan fabric of the couch. Hiro fires an arrow that strikes the right side of her chest piercing a lung, causing her to drop the flame-spewing weapon. Keigo leaps forward and lands a storm kick to the right side of her head. As the brunette stumbles and leans to her left, she feels a sting as Shadou-ken has moved from the slumping body of the blonde and delivers the killing strike to the right side of her neck. It is all over quickly and relatively quietly.
The second room is another long room running parallel to the first, but this time there are three male agents who look unsure of the sound they just heard, but stand with weapons at the ready. Another flash arrow impacts in the middle of the three.
“Adauchi!”
Caltrops scatter across the floor making every blind step painful, and four arrows impact the chest of the furthest Longbow with enough force to knock him backwards. Shadou-ken and Kira-shadou sprint forward striking with their ninja blades at the nearest agent. Bullets spray across the room from the Longbow Minigunner, and Hiro Pyre jumps atop the pool table then off the other side simultaneously firing an arrow that drives into the shoulder of the middle Longbow agent. The three agents soon lay dead, but Hogosha also lies on the floor with two bullet wounds to the chest and his fellow two grey clad archers kneel beside applying pressure to the wounds.
In the back left corner of the room the safe hangs on the wall, next to a statue of some long dead American Hero. As Hiro Pyre finishes emptying the contents, he hears the footsteps of three in the adjacent room. The Longbow that respond to the alarm are no match for the lethal ambush that awaits them as they round the corner and quickly fall.
“Keigo you will be coming with me. Shadou-ken take Hogosha to the infirmary.
Let the technology treat your wounds, my oshiego. When I return to the base, I will finish your healing with the old techniques from my grandfather.
I must first drop off a percentage of this money to the informant for this location. Then I will make a delivery to Commander Fury of these classified documents and the rest of the money. The X-Patriots will provide us the means to our ultimate goal.
We must remember that, slow is smooth and smooth is fast, and shadows move slowly. When the time is right, we strike from the shadows and the Heroes of America will know our vengeance.”
