Inevitable Evolution/faqs

From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe

Jump to: navigation, search

Although the members of Inevitable Evolution tend to be very clear in their motivations and goals, it is surprising how often the players and characters are misunderstood both individually and as a whole. It's not entirely surprising, IE is a villain group, and villains tend to warp the truth to their needs. Still, the Directorship of IE has decided to clarify as few common issues which have croped up consistently over the time they have been active. Please be advised that the following should be considered Out of Character Information, in order to help smooth out any roleplaying or In-Character interactions with the group or members.

Frequently Asked Questions - Inevitable Evolution.

Q. If the members of IE aren't true villains, why aren't you a Hero-side SuperGroup?

A. There are a lot of answers to this:

Out of Character Rationale:

preferable on CoV than CoH.

Inevitable Revolution.

In Character Rationale:

Villains of Paragon City are a villain group working in Paragon City.

traditional, conservative methods of mainstream "heroes". They may believe that the ends justify the means, or are willing to pursue justice in the Isles at any means necessary. This does not exclude extortion, kidnapping, murder, torture, or outright warfare. Please note that the morality of IE members are individual to the members themselves - however most ascribe to the primary directives noted on our main page.

Corps, and other "regular" hero groups to be a paramilitary group that uses methods which border on outright terrorism in order to achieve their aims. Because of their extreme methods, many regular heroes and supergroups would be glad to see IE dismantled, despite the fact that they are (obtensibly) working toward the same goal: justice and freedom. IE members commonly consider conventional heroes to be ineffectual suckers who are just supporting or protecting the sick system which allows crime, inequality, graft, and corruption to flourish. Trust me, there's nothing IE members like better than to point out logical inconsistencies in a hero's worldview.

All this to say, you might consider them heroes, but there are many others who would consider them extremist maniacs.

Q. Oh yeah, what about the logical inconsistencies in IE's philosophy?

A. Arguments, valid and otherwise, have been made.

Q. Isn't IE a mutant-only group? Aren't they a mutant supremacy group?

A. No, and no. You're probably thinking of Nation, which was purported to have held these values. IE does not have any "supremacy" theme in any of its plotlines and usually actively opposes them in IC interactions. The majority of IE members are in fact of mutant-origin, but they are balanced by members of all the other origins as well (magic appears to be the second-most popular).

Q. Why aren't you responding to my text-fighting?

...How come you won't respect my character's origin as the Metatron of the One True Goddess? It's all there on my VV page!

A. RP styles are as diverse as the players themselves. However, when it comes to IC conflicts, the majority of the IE members have agreed to respect power levels and to resolve violent exchanges through the PVP & Arena system. This is a controversial decision, but usually allows some impartial system to keep things from devolving into godmoding. We understand that many characters are not built or designed for successful PVP play, but an imperfect solution is better than no solution whatsoever.

Of course, many characters in IE will certainly consent to text-based conflict resolution, as long as it is well-organized and does not sink into god-modes. Please discuss this with the player OOCly in order to coordinate terms of engagement.

Q. How do you handle OOC Conflicts?

A. Like Adults I.E. has had problems in the past involving OOC drama. It nearly killed to group completely... If there is an OOC issue, feel free to approach any of our officers with your concerns and we'll address it in a civil manner. We won't resort to name calling or finger pointing and we expect the same treatment.

Q. I'd like to coalition with IE. How do I do that?

A. Contact a director of IE, preferably BOTH ICly and OOCly. Discuss what how your VG can help IE, or how we can help you. Please be advised that the Directorship of IE places heavy weight on whether it is reasonable from an In Character perspective for the two groups to ally.

Q. My SG/VG wants to start a IC Rivalry with IE. How do I do that?

A. Again, contact a Director of IE. We are open to discussing such a conflict and more more than willing to ensure it is fair and fun for both groups involved.

Q. Okay, my character got into a conflict with a member of IE...

...and now all of IE is involved. WTF.

A. What do you expect? For us to sit back and let one of our own get schooled? Granted, if they're just being a bully and picking on you, we will squash the conflict before it escalates and have a word with that particular member... but don't expect to start a fight with any member of IE without any sort of repercussion.

Q. Does that mean that if a member of IE insults or attacks my toon...

...it's an official declaration of war between IE and my VG/SG?

A. Not necessarily. IE Members are encouraged to speak individually about their personal opinions and their actions do not necessarily reflect the official standing of IE's Directorship or the Vision. Contact an IE Director if this becomes an issue, as it is entirely possible that our member requires...discipline.

Q. In your recruitment add, what do you mean by 'under new management'?

A. Rezz and the rest of The Ministry of Order came to IE's aid in their time of need. The group had shrunk and was on the verge of death due to a lot of unnecessary OOC drama. IE is now passed all that and is moving forward in a new DRAMA FREE direction. We want people to know this and discard their previous opinions and misconceptions about what and who IE is today, and not who they were before.

Please Contact Any IE Director with further questions or concerns about IE, its activities either In-Character or Out of Character.
