Inflamius
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
File:InflamiusIMAGEp1 copy.pngInflamius is my first and main character on Virtue server, I was inspired by a series of cartoon and comic heroes and the list goes from (Hanna Barbera's) Shazzam, (Marvel's) Captain Mar-Vel, (DC Universe's) Black Adam. And of course with a lot of ideas based on Arab mithology, Call of Cthulhu and D&D
Background
Inflamius is a fire Djinn, a smokeless free will spirit of the eternal fire created by gods. He was sent to a magical prison for five millennia. Trapped inside the Book of Mahamullah until a young man named Ronald Elliot release him from the magic prison. Very weakened Inflamius was forced to bind his immortal essence to Ronald to be sustained outside the book. The soul forging gave to the mortal a parcel of the magika of the Djinni, as same gave the Djinn a tangible body in this dimension. After Ronald assumed the mantle of Arcane Flame, using the powers of Inflamius to combat evil, the Djinn embraced the path of crime fighting and super hero as well.
Months were passed since Inflamius and Arcane Flame begun to share the magika. But when Inflamius was outside the Book, Elliot was sent to the world inside the book. As a reward for helping M.A.G.I., Azuria unbound them. Arcane Flame and Inflamius finally could coexist simultaneously out of the magical tome. As a wish conceded by Inflamius, Arcane Flame gained a mystical breastplate that gives him permanently a parcel of the magika of the Djinni. In December 12th 2006 Azuria commanded Inflamius to contact a Heroine of The City named Domgeorm. So Inflamius could help her to form a new Supergroup. Two days later The Mighty Brigade was born.
First Mission with the Shield of Paragon
Following a lead by Ernesto Hess, a contact from the NetherSword, Inflamius and The Mighty Brigade united with Capt. Cymru (from the Dawn Patrol) and Biocharge (from the Echelon) on a quest to undermine The Council's power on Paragon City. What they found out was much more then expected: by searching the council's files, they uncovered a plot to build giant war machines on their war against the heroes of our city. With Hess' directions the Heroes broke into the lab, defeated Archon Burkholder and initiated the self destruction system of the area, destroying both the robot and the plans that were used to build it.
Guilt
Inflamius once opposed against the Evil Caliph of the City of Pillars. Years before, he aided this same Caliph to take the throne, killing the old Caliph. This ended to make the Vizier break his ties with Inflamius (his former pupil). Secretly the new Caliph which in fact was an Efreet, dominated the Vizier, using him to judge Inflamius and condemn him to prison forever. He was charged of treason by the Caliph of Irem and considered guilty. After his judgment, he was forced to Roba al Khaliyeh,
Roba al Khaliyeh
A magical extra dimensional prison also known as the “prison without walls” which represents a part of the "Empty Quarter" that acts as the connection to the Void. Roba al Khaliyeh is the 'secret' door to the Void in Arab magical traditions. Is the place where the Djinni are sent when captured as servants or prisoners, “in the real world”, the prison manifests itself as a particular mundane object, as a lamp, for exemple.
The Book of Mahamullah
Is a manifestation of Roba al Khaliyeh in this dimension. This ancient mesopotamic spellbook contains a very powerful list of spells and magics. The tome belonged to the wizard Mahamullah, the wizard that first released Inflamius from Roba al Khaliyeh a long time ago. As a part of the three wishes Mahamullah desired to be the most powerful wizard in the world. He promised to Inflamius release him from his prison once and for all, using his last wish (That was a lie). Inflamius told the wizard to read the, now unlocked, last page of the book, so the wizard would become infinitely powerful. Mahamullah promptly followed the instructions, but the magic was so intense that his body and soul not bore, the wizard was destructed as well the last page of the book. Inflamius knew that Mahamullah never use the last wish to release him also that the wizard's body would not bear the magic power of the secret page.
A millennia later the book was purchased on an antiquary store by a young man named Ronald Elliot.
The City of Pillars
Irem Zhat al Imad' is the home of the Djinni, the center of all knowledge and magika. It is popularly believed that Irem was built by the Djinni under the direction of Shaddad, Lord of the tribe of Ad. The tribe of Ad, according to legend, was a race of Giants. Shaddad and the Djinni built Irem before the time of Adam. Irem is a locale on another level of reality on the Crimson Desert between Hell and Heaven, where the fire, sand and wind gather. The 'Pillars' in 'Irem of the Pillars' has a hidden meaning. Among Arab mystics pillar is a code name for 'elder' or 'old one'. Thus 'Irem of the Pillars' is really 'Irem of the Old Ones'.
Shaytans
They are enormous winged devils, evil spirits of darkness, brimstone and smoke. Also known as the Soul Eaters. The Muqarribun (Mage) can interact with these Shaytans when he travels to the Dahma Desert, outside the walls of Irem, if he achieves Annihilation (fana). Annihilation is the supreme attainment in Sufi and Muqarribun mysticism. During Annihilation the magician's entire being is devoured and absorbed by the Shaytans in a ritual. The self or 'soul' (nafs i ammara) is utterly and completely destroyed by this process. But his essence will feed his masters.
Efreeti
Or Ifrit, also spelled AFREET, AFRIT, AFRITE, or EFREET, Arabic (male) 'IFRIT, or (female) 'IFRITAH, is a class of infernal Djinn noted for their strength and cunning. The first fire Djinni, corrupted by the magika, they became servants of the evil Shaytans. An ifrit is a creature of smoke, either male or female, who lives underground and frequents ruins. Ifrits live in a society structured along ancient Arab tribal lines, complete with kings, tribes, and clans. Calling a fire Djinn an Efreet is very pejorative.
The Mighty Brigade
The Mighty Brigade is a covert freelance special ops non-government strike team. The team is made up of brave heroes who agree to perform extremely dangerous missions, putting their own personal security at risk in name of the peace.
The Brigade was formed in 2006 by Domgeorm and now consists of superheroes who allegedly do not fit the norms of the mainstream superhero community. The sole leadership was recently relinquished by Ice Bow and was offered to Inflamius, he is for all proposes a Champion of The Brigade, but he still use his former Guardian of The Brigade rank as title. Inflamius do not see himself as a leader but an advisor.
Present Moment
Recently, after Rulaaru's failed attempt to steal the Book of Mahamullah and use it to gain unimaginable power (making a portal to enter in the realm of the Djinni to get the secret of the Magika). After a series of combats against the Circle of Thorns and Rulaaru’s soldiers, Inflamius recovered his ancient tome and with some heroes aid defeated the aspects of the invader God.
When the ritual to close the portal was complete something went wrong. The magic that supports lnflamius on this rea1ity was broken, and once again the Djinn was forced to bound his immortal soul to Arcane Flame. With Azuria's help lnflamius can now exist in this dimension simultaneously with his mortal host, with a hard cost. The power of the djinni was divided between lnflamius and Arcane Flame again. Knowing this Ronald Elllot decided abandon his superhero mantle, giving to lnflamius the source of his power, his magical breastplate. The magic of the armor combined Inflamius’ powers sustains the djinn a1ive outside of the book, and gives him a new control over the spirits of the flame and the eternal fire itself.
