Andrew was born and raised in western Indiana. He was an average student and tended to keep to himself. When he graduated high school he decided to go to Paragon University. While there he majored in Criminology. From there he moved on to the Paragon Police academy and became a street cop.
Paragon, to say the least, is a tough town for any rookie cop. While in college, Andrew was fortunate to have become friends with Peter Shocken (See Coppertop) who had developed a lightweight and nearly indestructible fabric. Using this technology Peter fashioned a uniform that would protect Andrew from almost anything.
Andrew handled himself well although he did garner a reputation as a loose-cannon. Despite his reputation; he was eventually promoted to Detective. Andrew specialized in cases concerning 'The Council' and quickly became one of paragons topmost authorities on their dealings.
Shortly after becoming a detective Andrew began to see a young woman named, Dawn Winters. Dawn was a receptionist for Crey Industries. In her off time she worked with the city government to remove the Civilian Crime Fighting act. They met in Gemini Park while she was attending a pep rally. Andrew had also felt resentment at the Heroes of the city (An attitude that persists to an extent.). After meeting they had found they shared many other interests. After dating for 2 years Andrew finally proposed.
A week after proposing to Dawn, Andrew had received a tip pertaining to some strange activity in Independence Port. Upon arriving at the scene he was briefed on some strange murders that occurred in the cargo hold of a Ship. Andrew spent the next several hours examining the crime scene. He found some tell-tale evidence of Council activity, mostly weapons. He also found several Magical artifacts and had called in MAGI to help him identify them.
Andrew examined the mauled bodies of some of the crew while he waited for a MAGI representative. The method of death was unusual for the Council (at that time) they appeared to be mauled by an animal. As he examined the bodies closer he was struck from behind. Andrew was sent hurtling through the air until he collided with a large stack of crates. Dazed, Andrew tried to find his footing and drew his Pistol. A hand slapped away the pistol before he could even lift it and again a strange grey-ish creature (Vampyre) struck him to the floor.
Still dazed Andrew decided to roll away from the creature but he did not have many places to go. He did manage to avoid the first attack but was unable to dodge the second attack from the beats and was again hurled back into another set of crates.
Among the debris was a sword that was under MAGI quarantine. Andrew desperate for any edge against the creature picked it up only to find it was rather light for a sword its size. Before he could speculate on this the creature was upon him again but Andrew managed to fight it off with the new sword. To his surprise he found that it would cut through almost anything, including steel, and yet once the battle was over the creature was not dead, only knocked out.
When MAGI arrived on the scene he learned a little more about the sword. It bore a curse that would not allow Andrew to part with it. IT also was only as lethal as Andrew wanted it to be. In order to kill with it he had to want to kill in his heart. But it would also be as sharp as he truly wanted it to be. Since Andrew had touched the sword MAGI entrusted the weapon into his care since to do otherwise would drive him insane. As far as MAGI was concerned there were worse places the sword could be.
After a Time Andrew and Dawn were married. Life was peaceful for about a year. Dawn became pregnant with a baby boy and they both decided to name him after their friend Peter (Coppertop). The council however did not rest. seeing an opportunity to turn Andrew to their side they kidnapped Dawn and held her hostage in their base in Striga Isle.
At first Andrew tried to let the law work but he soon became impatient. He went and found the sword he had stored away and rushed off to Striga. The council were somewhat surprised when he arrived. They expected to be able to capture him and blackmail/brainwash him to their side. instead they were forced to watch as squad after squad was defeated at his onslaught. When Andrew reached the main complex and found dawn. together they made their escape. Just as they reached the outer perimeter Dawn was shot by a burst from one of the council soldiers. Enraged, Andrew entered the camp and attacked and killed the commander.
Afterwards there was an investigation into the incident. Andrew was suspended and eventually lost his badge over the death of the Council commander. During the year that followed Andrew became suicidal. Heart broken over the death of his wife and unborn son it was only his faith that kept him from taking his own life. He had become bitter and disgusted with the justice system.
Finally Andrew decided that society was just inherently evil in this day and age. He decided to take a page out of his history book and begin a new inquizition against the thugs of Paragon City. Since that day he became known as The Inquizitor.
