Personality

Torrent's personality can be described as brash, adventurous, and confident (sometimes cocky). He can either be a warm and kind individual, or he can be cold, cruel, and ruthless - especially if you are someone to get in his way - he doesn't like it. He generally carries an 'I don't care' attitude, unless you happen to be a known friend and ally.

Powers

Ionic wields Mu magic to protect himself with electric armor, and use it as a weapon against his foes. He can sap his opponents' strength and thereby regaining strength and stamina to fight on. His magic has also infused him with super strength, granting him ease in lifting heavy objects and delivering the pain. He fights with his own unique style, over time having learned to fight in the streets while crimefighting and stirring up trouble while in the Isles.

Kalen has also began recently to wield ice magic, using shards of ice and precision accuracy to take down his enemies.

Character History

Kalen Black grew up without the presence of his father. Winston Black disappeared from the household when he was only six years old, and now only had a brother to look up to. He enjoyed his childhood, growing up in a way that could be described as a fairly normal (and importantly, non-traumatizing). In his later high school years, Kalen began to encounter gang activity. He did his best to avoid it, but if he was about to get shook down or mugged by one of the local gangs, he'd defend himself. Over time, he got better at it, developing a brutally effective and unique street fighting style. His mother did well to raise her sons, and Kalen eventually left home to head to PCU to persue a mechanical engineering degree.

He had loved it even more than his hometown Seattle, and quickly adapted to the college lifestyle. Yet, one evening he happened upon a Kheldian known as Gleam being chased through the streets by a Void Hunter. Kalen pursued, and united with the Kheldian, and handily defeated the Void Hunter, and thereby dropping out of college to pursue a crime fighting career known as Solar Shot. This went well for a few months...

...Until he encountered an artifact in a small, detached corner of Oranbega. He brought it to his home, opening it up, and thereby cutting loose the spirit of one of his long dead ancestors. The spirit revealed himself as a mage in the line of Mu, going thousands of years back. The spirit then revealed to him that he had been planted in that spot thousands of years back, as it had been prophesized that Kalen would go to that spot, and retrieve the artifact, thus releasing him to reveal Kalen's Mu heritage. In this way, the spirit took possession of him for three days, and Kalen took a backseat in controlling his body. It was as if he were witnessing his life from a distance, gaps of time disappearing in his mind. But it was also revealed that he could wield positively devastating magic, and this corrupted him.

He turned on his allies with his newfound power, betraying a close friend and giving her away to Malta. This entire struggle eventually ended with his departure from the Guardian Force, and his forceful separation by Gleam, leaving him without a Kheldian. This, however, left him with a limited, residual healing effect which he could use on himself and others, but it left the weakness of quantum weaponry with him, as well.

Kalen departed to the Isles to begin a career in villainy, quickly carving out a path for himself and climbing to the top in a relatively short amount of time, being recognized as threat clearance fifty in a little over a month of work. He joined the X-Patriots not long after, and began to make a name for himself, consequently being promoted to Captain.
