Personality
Having suffered great a loss before coming to Paragon City, Sen seems almost reluctant to develop relationships with her new 'family' within the Branch. Still, she's a powerful force when angered or when her friends are threatened and thinks nothing of sacrificing herself to make sure her comrades pull through. Many see this as a form of martyrdom, though she doesn't think so. She's lost everything once already to a great evil, and she won't let it happen a second time even if it means her end.
Powers
All Genie's have ties to elemental powers, and even the Janni feels these ties as well. Were as Genie's manifest powers and traits specific to a single element style, Janni are free to specialize in one or more elements. Some, like Sen, can still specialize in a single element but their society favors diversity as much as it does mastery. Sen's abilities are as follows:
Fire Blast
Firebolt (Fire Blast), Breath of the Dragon (Firebreath), Fist of Flame (Blaze), Eyes of the Eagle (Aim), Fury of the Sun (Inferno)
Fire Manipulation
Fire Bola (Ring of Fire), Dragon's Fang (Fire Sword), Aura of the Sun (Combustion), Dragon's Fury (Build Up), Dragon's Tail (Fire Sword Circle), Caress of Warmth (Consume)
Fire Mastery
Haven (Bonfire), Armor of the Sun (Fire Shield), Embrace of the Phoenix (Rise of the Phoenix)
Speed
Wisdom of the Zephyr (Hasten), Born of the Wind (Super Speed)
Leaping
Cat's Grace (Combat Jumping), Leap of the Cricket (Super Jump), Freedom of the Wind (Acrobatics)
Leadership
Fury of the Hunter (Assault), Eyes of the Hunter (Tactics)
Fitness
Fleet of Foot (Swift), Vigor (Health), Essence of the Sun (Stamina)
Abilities
Speed and mobility are two of Sen's strongest points, combined with her frightening destructive power. She can slip around between enemy lines unnoticed, and disable key targets without drawing unwanted attentions on herself. Should she be discovered, anyone would difficulties in keeping her contained...much like the wind she reveres. In her home world, she spent decades honing her scouting and hunting skills, and now in Paragon City these skills serve her well in helping her comrades deal with new and unknown threats by staying ahead of the group and relaying information back so tactics can be worked out on the move.
Weaknesses and Limitations
For all of her amazing offensive potential, Sen's defenses don't match up quite as well. Relying heavily on her speed, grace and elemental manipulation, her entire defense revolves around incapacitating her enemies before they can do the same to her..which is hardly fool-proof at the best of times. Still, defeat rarely slows her down, each trip to the hospital or self-revive serves as a good lesion to be learned before she attempts such a feat again.
Her greatest weakness, by far, is the Rikti...the foul demon's that invaded her home world and laid waste to her people. Her hatred for them runs deep, enough that alliances and friends mean nothing to her when faced with the chance to destroy her hated enemy. This has lead to several incidents with both the Branch, and various members of the Longbow, PPD and Portal Corp over the difference in the Traditionalists/Pacifist Rikti and their War-mongering counterparts. Through Sen's eyes, the only good Rikti...is a dead one, end of story. Her most famous act of rage against the Rikti stems from the mission to recover the Rikti POW Kit'Vul from the Malta Group in a different dimension. Not only did she utterly destroy the Malta forces sent to guard Kit'Vul, but the POW himself, the two platoons of Malta agents sent in to try and recover the POW, and much of the surrounding landscape. To date, the dimension has been closed off due to the hostile environment she initiated. Portal Corp had no further comments to offer on the incident.
Equipment
Sabaku Inka - This relic weapon was passed down through Sen's family from generation to generation as a symbol of authority and expertise. Bonded to it's owner, Sabaku can be called forth from anywhere the owner may be and dismissed just as readily back into the ether. The weapon itself is sentient to a degree...aware of its surroundings and it's owner's physical and mental states, but unable to voice or affect either directly. Sabaku is the only remaining tie Sen has to her home world, and as a result she cherishes her weapon with all her heart.
Character History
(from Branch File ID #382-X51, posted by Project Lithium to Lord Legion)
Hailing from Dimension #735-X32 (Colourfully referred to as 'the sand trap' by many of the portal techs), a world of endless desert and scorching suns, Sen's people where nothing more then peaceful nomads leaving off what little the land had to offer. Being descendants of greater elemental spirits (known more commonly as Genies within human myths), they showed abilities to manipulate elements as they needed, benefited from some of their longevity and possessed resilience towards the elements, which in turn allowed them to survive peacefully in an otherwise harsh environment. However, they did live by a single, simple (yet brutal) law: You pulled your weight, or you were left to fend for yourself.
Being of noble blood, Sen's life was pampered but still as demanding as any other member of her tribe. Those of nobility showed greater power and potential then those of common blood, and were expected to act accordingly. Blessed with a ancestral spirit at birth (She never showed me that, but she said it was cute, kinda furry and kinda fiery so I can only imagine what the hell it could be) and gifted a powerful ancestral blade know as "Sabaku Inka" (Translation: Desert Catching Fire) when she made her right of passage into adulthood, she quickly grew in popularity for her level-headed outlook and fearsome skill with her blade. Life was quiet, demanding...yet peaceful...until the day the sky opened up and the demons spilled forth into their world. Hidden behind strange metal armors and firing volleys of unknown energy, the demons swept across the desert like a great shadow, devouring everything the darkness came across. Battles were fought vainly, with little result as more demons spilled out from their portals to replace those that had fallen to the blades and spells of the Janni. In the end, the demon's sheer numbers and abilities sealed the fate of the war, and those that survived the conflict were imprisoned.
== That's where her information stops anyway, I did a little research into what her 'demons' were exactly by the descriptions given and some of the info I dug up on Portal Tech's database. If you haven't figured it out already, the Rikti got to her dimension before someone from our dimension did...and holy damn did they ever make a mess of it. Dimension #725-X32, despite being a blistering hell pit at first glance, was quite rich in minerals and several forms of fossil fuels. At some point, a great ocean had covered much of the surface, before it vanished. regardless, it left behind large organic deposits deep below the sand. The Rikti must have been scouting ahead for new places to raid, and sadly Sen's world was sitting on a silver platter for them. ==
The world was dark and cold for many years after the demons came; pain...hunger, and worse still, the specimen tests, slowly worked the remaining Janni captives down to a sparse few (Four by my count at the time). Sen had almost given up all hope, when suddenly the darkness was ripped away and the purity of fire sent the demons screaming in pain and fear. She could only watch with wide eyes as the blurry figures pressed forward through the demon hoards, shredding some with gestures from strange weapons, others searing packs at a time with great eruptions of fire. her last conscious memories were of a single man, wreathed in a glow brighter then the sun itself...his words brought a smile to her lips before the bliss of unconsciousness swept over her.
== Again her info stops there, but this is were we come in finally. Sen was one of the four survivors we managed to find when our branch team infiltrated the dimension to investigate some dimensional ruptures. Myself, Fist, Faith, EMT, Johnny, Ava and Emo-boy didn't have many real issues with the Rikti forces, but were had the advantage of better technology and surprise. The survivors were taken in by portal Tech's medical wing, though from my gatherings...only Sen survived the weeks that followed. The other three had been infected with some weird rikti virus and died pretty horribly, she was probably next in line for the needle since we found her in one of the medical bunkers.
Three months of recovery later, and BAM! care to guess the first place she went when they released her from their care? Right to our front door. I signed her up in the Reserve roster to keep an eye on her for now...she's got potential, but the subject of 'Rikti' around her is kinda taboo. Lost as well, someone must've told her the tales of where the Lost originated from, so she seems pretty fixated in taking as many of them out as can till she can probably get at their Rikti masters directly. ==
Trivia
- Sen has never experienced winter or snow before. She is familiar with cold weather, since temperatures in the desert can drop below freezing at night, but the concept of snow or the winter season are totally new to her in Paragon City.
- Janni age much slower physically then humans, roughly 1:20 the rate. Despite her youthful appearance, Sen delights in offering odd or very deep bits of insight and advice that people would normally expect from someone more senior in appearance. Typical nicknames she uses for people are usually a paradox, such as calling someone who looks older "old man" or "old pervert".
- Sen's guardian spirit resembles the pipe fox from XXX-Holic.
