I am Kherianda, reporting. Today is February 16th in Nova Praetoria. First the headlines.
Resistance terrorists struck the Nuon Automated Machine Tools Facility on eleventh street. Automatic gunfire was exchanged between PPD officers on patrol and six attackers who emerged from the underground intent on destroying the facility.
They were repulsed with only two casualties and left behind a package containing depolarized positronic control boards. PPD promised an official statement after the boards have been fully examined.
Celebrants attended Praetor Duncan's Valentines Day Extravaganza held in Murdoch Memorial Auditorium Monday night. Loyal citizens were delighted to engage in a fashion show, celebrity auction, and Dance 'till dawn contest.
Praetor Duncan herself bid on, and won the attentions of two of Praetoria's most eligible bachelors, Sgt. Jesse Mendoza of PPD, the hero of the Multi-Star apartment fire, and Jonathan Zed, the Invulnerable new media darling of Powers Division.
Proceeds from the event went to the Imperial Service Survivors and Childrens' Fund, and to Behavioral Reconditioning Associates, well known for their work in helping citizens recover from Post-Terrorism Exposure Trauma.
The Neutropolis Stock Exchange reached a new high today on first quarter projections of increased cross-dimension sales of Enriche. The popular line of certified clean and refreshing drinks has been selling well on the Primal Dimension.
The Imperial Investigative Service has issued a request to Loyal Citizens to report contact with or suspicious activity by visitors from Primal Dimension. Increased numbers of visiting Primals have been reported involved in scuffles with PPD.
While the visitation program has been popular and is hoped to decrease tensions between our peace-loving nation and the primitive and warlike Primals, due caution is advised.

Clockshock's execution was long and brutal, being fed to ghouls through a six-inch steel grate. The Resistance declares PPD Sgt Jesse Mendoza, Powers Division Agent Alpha-Rose, and PPD Lieutenant Michael James to be guilty of murder, and sentences them to death. A traffic accident today claimed the life of one of Praetoria's most beloved and respected film stars.
Ms Darian Greyne was star of such memorable films as "A Ticket to Paradise" and "City of Shrouds" and had received the Star of the Imperial Actor's Academy for her performance in "Fury of the Devouring", 1987's Best Picture.
Like so many, Ms Greyne's family was lost in the War, and hence she leaves no survivors. Her estate was left to the Tillamn Institute for the Performing Arts.
The Imperial Bureau of Labor Statistics released this month's employment statistics, and analysts were surpised that the Leisure Rate has increased once more to 59.3 percent, and increase of 0.4 percent over December's figures.

The Resistance condemns such attacks as criminal violations of the sanctity of life and the independance of neighboring dimensions and calls on Primals to hunt down and execute the Regime Murderers responsible.

News from Primal Dimension this week continues to be dismal. Powered individuals continue to rampage at will endangering lives and property.
Every bank in the City of Paragon, the local dimensional name for Shroud City, has been robbed in the past seven days. Citizens walking the streets are harassed, robbed, and even killed by gangs of thugs, outright gangsters, magical cults, and murderous organ-collectors.
Super-powered and heavily armed criminal militias recruit off street corners. Monstrous creatures emerge at random to run amok, and dire threats to public order are conspired into existence at the whim of super-powered maniacs.
Today, the Imperial Foreign Office announced a new program to combat crime and disorder in Paragon City. Peacekeeping units from the Imperial Defense Force have been volunteered to assist Primal Dimension Police forces.
Unfortunately, IDF spokesmen say, initial shipments of clockwork support units to Primal dimension to assist Police forces there have been ruthlessly attacked and destroyed.
Foreign office believs that corruption is so widespread that actual local Police Forces have been bribed to attack and destroy Imperial units on arrival.
Meanwhile, additional murders of local mutants in Primal Dimension underscores the dire state of individual safety in that violent and prmitive land. Even children feel the lack or order and widespread super-powered chaos.
A militant mutant supremacy group, Next Gen, has vowed reprisal on the child-murderers, further escalating an already dangerous situation.
Among the normal human population, concerns over the possibility of a war to extinction between humans and meta-human mutants are rising.
Local governments appear powerless to intervene; a given as their local super-powered populations have had free reign to create chaos for so long.
Today in Imperial City, a new day-care center has been opened. Breezy Oaks' ribbon cutting ceremony went off smoothly with a contingent from Powers Division handing out candy to children, participating in games, and assuring security.
Protesters showing no sense of decorum were quickly whisked away to ensure the childrens' excitement was not marred by the disturbing presence of signs and angry chants. Two were arrested, and detained by PPD until morning after being issued citations for disturbing the peace.
The trial of notorious Resistance figure "Hoodwink", a.k.a., Samuel Jean Stevens, reached a conclusion today as Hoodwink's defense attorneys conceded to the prosecution's overwhelming case in exchange for sentencing leniency.
Pending approval by the Praetorian Council, Mr Stevens will accept life imprisonment with behavioral management instead of final sanctions. Mr Stevens will be freely debriefing his full knowledge of terrorist activities and resistance contacts.
A PPD spokesman said "This will be a huge step forward in driving the last vestiges of the super-powered threat out of our Praetoria. Plea bargains play a key role for peace and security by showing the true mercy and wisdom of our rulers."
The Imperial Bureau of Commerce released this month's industrial production figures, showing a continued seven percent annualized rate of rise. The current Five Year Plan calls for seven percent per annum growth from increasingly robotized industry.
The only exception to this is Warkworks production, which increased eleven percent over last year due to unplanned needs to outfits units for security duty in Primal Dimension.
IBC stated that increased Warworks production does not strain the current Five Year Plan, and Loyal Citizens should continue to see their living standards rise steadily.

In other news, agents in Primal Dimension report increased police activity in the wake of Imperial Warworks strikes to the dimension.
They report invading imperial forces disregarded the safety of primal inhabitants by targeting a residential block for the set-down of a massive warworks portal.
Over a hundred primal civilians were killed, and the 53rd Police Precinct Station located in King's Row was heavily damaged.
Gang activity in King's Row is reported greatly increased; another testimony to the corrupt regime's crimes. Precinct 53 has begun working more closely with Primal heroes.

The Resistance condemns the loss of life and destruction of property accompanying the explosion outside the Lambda Sector armorey in Neutropolis. Resistance agents report this explosion was due to a secret Imperial weapons test.

WSPDR Impact report has learned that MAGI officials are scrambling to keep pieces of an item improbably called The Wheel of Destruction secure.
Listeners may recall the numerous times security at MAGI vaults has been compromised. A MAGI spokesperson would only say that they were aware their prior security record was not exemplary.
Vanguard issued a Gold Alert yesterday to extend to the end of this month.
Under the low level Gold Alert, citizens of Paragon and the Etoiles are cautioned to keep power outage supplies and test their fire and evacuation drills.
No reason was provided for this change in alert status.
In lighter news, yesterday the faculty and students of Industrial Blvd Elementary #208 in King's Row held their annual Hero's Day.
Local heroes were invited into the school and participated in arts, crafts, and athletic activities.
Hero Day began the school year following the July 2006 event when students at #208 school were held hostage by The Killer Toy.
Rapid response from Paragon's Hero community resulted in forty-five school children being rescued. The Killer Toy, a.k.a., Jeanette Robins of the Etoile Islands, was killed during the rescue.

Heroes and villains are recovering these stolen valentines and speeding them along to their intendeds.
Except, WSPDR has learned that quite a few of these valentines are being misdelivered. Recipients beware.
The murder trial of notorious criminal Joey "Knuckles" Marcelli took an unexpected turn when the victim, Harold Emmerson, walked into the courtroom, apparently alive.
Mister Marcelli was released later that session, but the alleged victim was unavailable for comment.
Doctors at Chiron Medical Center have been calling in specialists from MAGI to deal with strange wounds on many citizens resembling red hearts.
A Chiron Medical spokesperson assured the press there was no cause for alarm.

This past Saturday's earthquake has been determined by the Paragon Geological Observatory to have originated under Astoria with an estimated magnitude of 4.2.
Apparently simultaneously, the local hero group Silver Aegis had summoned a gathering of nearly forty other heros to investigate some of the odd incidents nearby that restricted section of the city.
On interview, Doctor Warlocke, the group's leader, expressed confidence that Paragon's hero community was on top of the problem.
WSPDR Impact Report has also learned that the hero Xeden has been investigating recent events, and suggested something dangerous was beginning to stir deep under Astoria.
Xeden's been seen actively gathering intelligence on these events; even from deceased residents of Astoria.
Seventeen abducted civilians were rescued from Astoria by the gathered notable heroes, including Paragon's long-time iconic hero Ascendant.
Independence Port was attacked once more by the giant octopus Lusca, but was saved single-handedly by Captain Unstoppable!, exclamation included.

A poll taken by the Paragon Sentinel tracking local attitudes towards our metahuman community registered the third monthly drop, from last month's 73.0% approval down to 71.9%.
Pollsters say data indicates that metahumans obstructing traffic is still the primary concern, with heroes ignoring petty street crime second, and interference with the weather in third.

A robbery attempt at the First National Bank of King's Row was foiled today by Sundered Sky, noted local hero.
A masked villainess calling herself Savage Siren broke into the vault, but was intercepted by Sundered Sky, leading a PPD SWAT team.
Though Savage Siren escaped and vault security was compromised, the bank's currency deposits were saved, and several accomplices were taken into custody.
News today from Praetoria highlights the arrest and execution of wanted Resistance fighter 'Janitor Jim'.
Two months ago, James Olessney, of Imperial City, had been convicted of kidnapping IDF soldiers' family members and performing killings in disused lavatories within the Underground.
Mr Olessney had been sentenced to death in absentia, and the Imperial Information Ministry had proclaimed his case an egregious one meriting public televised termination.

Heros halted havoc yesterday in Independence Port when the famous giant octopus, Lusca, was attempting to overturn the 'Sorry Charlie', a tuna factory ship returning a successful season on the Grand Banks.
The gathering of heros fought Lusca away from the ship, and then fought to drive the creature away by systematically attacking its massive tentacles.
In the aftermath, six members of the Dockworkers Union are unaccounted for, and feared eaten.
The well-known Supergroups 'The American Legion' and 'Hero Dawn' continued their campaigns to keep Paragon's Heroic community looking sharp by sponsoring costume contests.
On various nights of the week, these groups call Paragon's Supers together to show off their costuming skills for cash and prizes.
A Federal Bureau of Superpowered Affairs representative explained: "We laud these groups and the many others who use contests and the like to keep our supers in high style. Civilians need to know who to go to for help, and these imaginative costumes make it easy."

In news from the world of Superheroes, the Office of Supergroup Registration reports new highs in Supergroup formation and recruitment.
Officials claim the upsurge is due to the emergency situation in Astoria, and to new efforts from the United Nations Special Council to organize the powerful metahumans from both the City and the Isles.
Assistant Deputy Undersecretary Ms. Talitha Laurent, of the UNSCSHA Special Projects Directorate offered a statement:
... "UNSCSHA supports and facilitates formation of meta-human groups who are willing to set aside parochial national and regional concerns to work for the protection of civilization on Earth from existential threats of all kinds. Metahuman groups from Paragon, the Etoilles, and other staging points are equally valued in this transnational endeavor."
