Liberty's Might was @BurntHeart's first real attempt at a gadget oriented hero with a strong Golden/Silver age senseability. He was envisioned to be a throw back to a simpler style of hero with very concret black and white views on "good" and "bad" and attempt to maintain an actual secret identity and alter ego, as well as an attempt to use the idea of a multigenerational hero coming into his hero suit with a legacy to uphold. Strong inspiriations for Liberty came from Captain America, Reed Richards, Spider-Man, Bat-Man, and the Marvel family from DCU (ie Captain Marvel).

Personality

Liberty's Might; self assured and confident, willing to jump into a fight first, attentive to his team mates and will rush to their defense if they are overwhelmed. He generally takes a back seat in a team as far as leadership goes and defers to more established heroes for direction regularly, attempting to draw as little attention to himself as possible.

Benji McCloud; quite and mild mannered, at home and happy working on electronic components and gadgets, happiest inventing a new gadget. Earnest and honest in his dealings with costomers and eager to please them. When heroes visit the Cooke's Electronics store in Steel Canyon, Benji is known to get distracted from his work and eavesdrop when they are discussing their adventures heroing.

Powers

Liberty's Might in his alter ego, Benji McCloud, is an inventor and specializes in micro-engineering. He has no inherent superpowers of his own and all his abilities come from the gadgets he has invented using his own patented micro-processor.

Energy Guantlets

Liberty's Might, Power Gloves fully charged and unleashed on a Husk!

Liberty's Might wears a pair of red Power Guantlets, invented by Paragon Native Benjamine McCloud. These gauntlets produce a small field of pure energy which enhance hand to hand combat attacks with a ten fold increase in power behind each punch. The systems powering the gloves and suppling the energy they draw on is self replicating, but can be drained if used excessively for a long period of time and will require deactivation to recharge.

Contact with the energy aura produced by the gloves has been known, in some cases, to interact with an apponent's synaptic functioning and can cause disorientation and even unconsciousness. These effects cannot be controlled completely and seem to occur randomly; although Benjamine McCloud is currently working on a means to assert more control over the ability to cause these disorienting punches.

Power Belt

Liberty's Might is outfitted with a slim white Power Belt which, when activiated, encases the wearer in a protective field of energy, making the wearer highly resistant to mulitple forms of attacks and weapons. Settings on the belt allows for physical resistances via a static field to most forms of hand to hand combat and weapons. Additional settings allow for resistances to energy attacks, fire or heat attacks, and cold or freezing attacks. Thus far no settings are availible to guard against psionic attacks.

Jet Boots

Matching the Energy Guantlets that Liberty's Might wears, are a pair of boots, which contain small micro jet rocket engines. These Jet Boots allow Liberty to fly and hover in the air and travel up to speeds of 50 MPH.

Microcomputer System

Liberty's Might's costume is contains a microcomputer system invented, designed, and installed by his alter ego, Benji McCloud, as a prototype system he created at Cooke's Electronics. His inital hopes were that he would sell this system to other technology based heroes and get a foot in the door on his way to becoming the "Gadget Guy" for some big league Supergroup in town. He only created the prototype model, which he installed into the Liberty Suit given to him by his uncle and now is his own "Gadget Guy".

Ocular Enterface System

The large red monacle covering his right eye acts as a targeting screen for Liberty's Might while in the field. When the retacle centers on a target the microcomputer analyzes the target and determines threat potential. The computer system is able to utilize wireless connections to PCPD databases as well as NBSHA databases to assess target's identities and known powers as needed. The monacle also doubles as a viewable screen for his onboard computer system using retinal movements and blinks as mouse movements and clicks.

Wireless Web Connectionability

The spikes that adorn the top of Liberty's Might's headpiece are the housings for his wireless connections to the internet and various law enforcement and national agency databases. He is able to maintain wireless satillite connections with extremely high connection speeds while mobile. When missions take him underground his connections remain somewhat stable, but the further underground he goes the less stable the connections are until finally cutting out altogether. Trips to alternate realities via Portal Corps or any magical means also render the wireless connections unuseable.

Radio, Television, and Satillite Receivers and Transmitters

The spikes that house the wireless connections to the internet also house radio band transmitters and recievers, television signal recievers, and satillite receivers and transmitters allowing for multiple forms of communication and information gathering as Liberty's Might's finger tips.

Alter Ego

Benji at work at Cooke's in Steel Canyon

Liberty's Might maintains a "secret identity" within the civilian world of Paragon City. By day is a mild mannered Micro-Engineer working for Cooke's Electronics in Steel Canyon, as Benjamin McCloud. He maintains his civilian identity as a secret to keep his family safe from the various villian groups in Paragon City that he has tangled with. His secret identity is kept from even other members of his SuperGroup The Phoenix Force.

Benji spends his time at Cooke's working on inventions to further his own abilities while in the guise of Liberty's Might, and to sell to other heroes through Cooke's Electronics. The freedom from having the workshop, tools, and equipment available to him from Cooke's is another reason he maintains his secret identity, not to mention the information he gathers from other heroes in Paragon City who come into Cooke's and talk about their latest missions or cases they are working on.

The Liberty Legacy

Liberty's Might is a multigenerational hero and is currently the fourth member of his family to don the "Liberty Suit" and name. The legacy began with Benji's greatgrandfather who started out as a hero in the first wave of champions to hit the streets of Paragon City in the 30's. Liberty's Light was a mutant with the ability to produce lambent energy from his hands and direct it in blasts. He created the original Liberty Suit and then passed it on to his eldest son in the 1960's, who in turn became the hero known as Liberty's Dream.

While Liberty's Dream was not a mutant himself, he was a champion boxer and acomplished martial artist. He used his natural talents and skills to take up the Liberty mantle in the fight for justice. He made slight alterations to the original Liberty Suit to make it his own and continued to fight until the 1980's when he passed the mantle on to his younger son, who began Liberty's Defense.

Liberty's Defense inherited the family mutation, but instead of producing lambent light energy, he was able to manipulate gravity fields, creating repulisve force fields around himself and others, or manipulating gravity fields around his foes. Liberty's Defense battled in the decaying streets of Paragon in the 80's and watched on as the second Freedom Phalnex came into being with the current line up still seen today. In the first few years of the new century Liberty's Defense turned to his nephew to pass the torch on to, as he had no children of his own.

His nephew, Benji McCloud, then inherited the Liberty Suit, modified it again, and donned the mantle Liberty's Might.

Various Liberty's down through the decades.
