Profile:
Having lived all over the United States both as a child, then as an adult, Lone Wolf Rage - aka Cain Taylor, got more than his fair share of licks in on both sides of the tracks.
When young Cain began school, it was obvious that he was different from the other children in his neighborhood. In 4 year old Kindergarten, he quickly became the bully, not only of his class, but the other three Kindergarten classes in the school. Although it was plain to see that he had no problem communicating with his mouth, he opted to let his fists do the talking whenever things didn't go his way. He developed a split-personality then, that he carries 'til this very day.
Later in school things began to change. Cain realized that he had no real friends, and made a promise to himself to abstain from violence. Throughout his grade-school years...this would lead to him being on the recieving end of the same tyrannical behavior he had meted out since he first began to interact with other human being his own age.
"A Turn For The Worse"
Around the age of 15, Cain's parents had divorced, and his mother moved back to the very same place in Chicago that his parents had taken him out of, all those years past. The neighborhood was still rife with poverty and violence, and was in the middle of a three-way gang turf war. It was around this time that Cain decided to break his oath of non-violence, not only for survival, but because he felt the anger within him turning into a wellspring of rage.
It seemed to him that those young men and women who made up the many gangs who held the neighborhood in a grip of terror were always rewarded, while his own family could barely even eat. He saw the expensive clothes that they wore, the shiny cars of the drug-runners...for a time, he succombed to the lifestyle of the poor and dangerous. Quickly establishing a place in the black market rackets of gun-running and carjacking, Cain learned how "the other side" lived, but was still unsatisfied. In truth, he was only made angrier, as he learned more and more about the criminal underworld.
"Poor Man's Redemption"
Cain gave up every stake he had in gun-running and working with the chop-shops all at once, and began to sabotage thier operations instead. Every night, a young Cain Taylor would take to the streets dressed in all black, and sticking to the shadows, with enough weapons and gadgets for Mad Max. After a yearlong campaign of steady vigilantism, he convinced himself that the only right way, was his way. He would be judge, jury, and if necessary -- executioner, just to see his own brand of "justice" done on the streets.
It is rumored, that he actually kills his targets at times, in lieu of a "citizens' arrest". Those who have felt close to him at various times in his life, have no answers. He is often described as a loose cannon, a time-bomb, and a nice guy, all in one. His psycho-therapists have diagnosed him as a "bipolar-psychotic mix". This is often seen, in the fact that he often seems to lack any conscience whatsoever, and is extremely methodical and ruthless in his execution. Surprisingly, some heroes who have worked with him say that he also has a great sense of humor that helps to keep morale high during team-ups.
"Epilogue"
Though he has chosen "the lesser of two evils" over the years, he is still anything but mentally stable. The citizens of Paragon City who have been rescued by this unlikely "hero", usually endorse his actions...but also add that his attitude is often; "the ends justify the means".
They are just happy to have their wallets and purses back.
