Description
Physical
Standing at a tall six foot two inches (6'2"), he has long raven black hair which is usually kept in a neat professional pony-tail. When let down, it is a savage untamed mane of midnight. His eyes are a piercing jade green that always seem to be scrutinizing everything they see. Physically fit, he has the muscles of someone more than just athletic but not quite the bulk of a body builder. Regardless, he has a commanding presence as he always stands straight, composed, and confident. At the tip of his collarbone towards his left shoulder is the beginning of a long scar he keeps hidden beneath his clothes. It extends down to his right hip, looking as though something nearly cut him in half at one point. When his Nictus is in control, there is a constant swell of a shadow-like aura around his form; proof of their imperfect bond.
Personality
Due to years on the PPD, as well as a past in a worse part of New York City, Tyler has developed a bit of an abrasive attitude. Brutally honest and usually to the point, he naturally makes others feel uncomfortable around him except for those with a high sense of confidence. Filled with much of the same himself, he does not hesitate to take command or issue orders; even when it's not necessarily his place to do so. However, he has a high level of respect for anyone of higher station and bows down before their decisions. If he highly disagrees, this can lead to a passive aggressive response which usually winds up with Tyler getting results on his own. Indeed, he gives off the aura of your atypical "lone-wolf", though he has managed to warm up to a few select individuals. Because of his sudden and unmitigated betrayal, trust does not come easily for him.
Story
New York City
Born and raised on some of the meanest streets of New York City, Tyler became hardened quickly. It was a necessity to survive. His father was a struggling accountant and his mother grappled with a terminal illness; a tumor in the frontal lobe of her skull. When Tyler was only the tender age of ten, his mother finally lost her battle and died. Two years after this, his father who had sense become an out of work alcoholic committed suicide by jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge. Left all alone, Tyler continued to attend school while living in an over-glorified sweatshop that passed as an orphanage. Quiet and collected, he graduated high school with honors. After the twin towers fell, he vowed it was time to make a difference against the injustice he had suffered his entire life. With nothing holding him back, Tyler Stigma left his home in New York City to become a resident of Paragon City.
Astoria
In 2002, Tyler completed training in a nearby Police Academy and moved into Astoria, Paragon City. It was here that he initially became a beat officer, patrolling the city by foot. The Rikti War raged around the globe and especially heavily in Paragon City, but Astoria was hardly touched by the carnage. The presence of the nearby Moth Graveyard gave everyone somber and busy attitudes, which suited Tyler just fine. It made his job that much easier.
Defender of Justice
As the years rolled by, Tyler began to notice an alarming level of crimes going either unnoticed or unpunished. Spurned by his original vow, he looked into the matter more deeply. Turned out the PPD were short-staffed and on top of it, a rising number of super criminals were making all but the bravest officers cower at the thought of attempting an arrest. As a result, they had grown lazy and complacent, figuring an equally super powered individual would bring the vigilantes to justice. The more time rolled on, the more Tyler noticed this wasn't the case. These supposed 'heroes' seemed to hunt selectively and by their own selfish whims. If they didn't want to deal with a problem, they didn't. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Tyler figured the only way to set things right was to take matters into his own hands. Utilizing his vast knowledge of various martial arts, Tyler donned the alias Honor Strike and began to tackle criminals the police were too afraid of and other heroes were too busy to take care of.
Work Transfer
Shortly after his start as a masked hero, the Banished Pantheon stumbled upon a horrific discovery, transforming Astoria into what we now know as Dark Astoria. Finding it no longer necessary to argue with his superiors when he could just as easily deal justice on his own terms, Tyler became a model Officer during these trying times. It wasn't long before the upper brass took notice and felt it would be a shame if his talents were wasted on such a lost cause as his current district. He was subsequently transferred to Skyway City and promoted to Sergeant.
A Column of Trust
Sgt. Stigma grew bored very quickly dealing with the likes of Trolls and Skulls, so he began to set Honor Strike's sights higher. It was because of this that he discovered the Council, and their malicious but government sponsored acts. He became partners with a certain female Detective in the PPD who gave him many leads in his quest to thwart the Council. Time passed smoothly like this for many years until finally, in 2009, he realized he had cast his life to the darkest possible fate.
The Pillar Crumbles
All this time, Honor Strike had been fighting against a very specific branch of the Council. One originally derived from the Fifth Column, but that had now remarkably melded in well within their new ranks. Honor Strike learned of the Nictus, a form of Kheldian, through this and battled them many times. Finally, with the help of his partner, he cornered their leader into a secluded base. Honor Strike moved in to finish this mayhem once and for all but found himself the victim of a vicious trap. His own partner had betrayed him. She herself was a Nictus and needed a pawn to eliminate her competition without arousing suspicion of herself. As he made his move, his partner struck the base full force with many Nictus-infused soldiers loyal to her command. The result was a slaughter, and in the aftermath, she left Tyler for dead.
Death and Rebirth
With his life fading before his eyes, all Tyler could feel was an overwhelming anger. Everything he had worked for was a lie and no matter how hard he tried, he could never find the power to right the wrongs that would appear before him. In this life or death moment, he heard a kindred soul whisper out to him. A nictus on the side he was supposed to have defeated wavered on the brink of death itself, its host already gone on to the next life. In that moment of unbridled hate and desperation, neither asked too many questions. A pact of survival was created and Tyler opened himself as host to the Nictus.
Rise of a Templar
Having become a Warshade, Tyler and his mysterious Nictus companion recovered. Their bond was far from perfect, giving both of them their own will and personality. At first, Tyler regretted the decision, but he soon found his Nictus was more than willing to teach him how to use his new-found powers. Even better, the Nictus only wanted control over the body to occasionally watch Television. Tyler knew that the Nictus could not be trusted, but also couldn't pass up this opportunity. Utilizing his own skills with his new-found powers, Tyler Stigma once again took on an alias known to this day as Lunar Templar.
Judge, Jury, and Executioner
Tyler still works as a PPD Sgt. to this day, but his true passion is his actions as Lunar Templar. He no longer shows restraint with criminals, convinced that places like the Zigg will never cure them or hold them. Most of all, however, he hunts fervently for the woman who killed him. His quest for justice has fallen to second to an overwhelming desire for revenge.
