The Stone Cold Soldier.

Major Faultline, James T. Temblor.

Born: Overbrook

Allegiance: The Council of United Powers (Cup)

Favorite type of vanilla pudding: Vanilla.

James Temblor knew from an early age that he was a disappointment to his father, the respected General Faultline. He joined the military for mandatory service at the age of 14 and served with distinction in the 9th Heavy Dragoons during the Third Paragon Campaigns. Promoted to lieutenant upon the death of his units officer in Peregrine. promoted again, this time to Captain, following his unit's key role in the conquest of Striga.

"Disappointment is such a strong word, Father knew I wasn't living up to my potential. I used to resent him for that." *laughs* "But he was right. I learned that on the Striga Campaign."

He was discharged at the age of 16 at the rank of Captain. He returned home to Overbrook to aid in the reconstruction following it's annexation. Renewing there his relationship with Anette. General Faultline, viewing Anette as a needless distraction from what was becoming a promising officer, ordered her deletion. At the age of 17 James re-joined the army at the rank of Captain. fellow soldiers noticed marked changes in him.

"Yeah, I re-joined the army. Why not? It's not like I had anything else to go back to. Turns out it was a good thing I did, too, after those tech-weenies poked a hole through into another world and the invasions began. I was going through a bad time and the distraction was welcome."

James Temblor distinguished himself again during the Rikti Invasions, becoming a prominent and recognizable figure. The Stone Cold Soldier, an empty shell of a man, became a good luck charm, said to be utterly invincible. The Stone Juggernaut was said to be able to turn the tide of battle just by being there, a fact his father used advantageously.

The final battle of the Rikti Invasions took place at White Plains. Once a monument to modern civilization this beautiful city segment now resembled a nuclear test range. And side by side with the Paragon army they fought. History would remember the heroes of the day. Some grudgingly: Manticore, Synapse, Colonel Amazing, Sister psyche, Liberty Guard. Some with jubilation: Black Scorpion, PsyCurse, General Faultline, Krabaplypse, Dreadnot and the Stone Cold Soldier.

"heheh Yeah, I guess you heard the stories, I don't know HOW that started, but The Colonel and Scorpion and I, we were tight, you know? So when you go out for a little celebratory drink, well..."

The Council declared a day of celebration, by agreement CUP forces pulled out of White plains, allowing the Free Republic of Empowered Enhanced Metahumans (or FREEM) of Paragon to pick up the pieces. Lord Recluse held a banquet for the CUP heroes in his capital in the Rogue Isles. During conversation at the banquet it was generally agreed by the older heroes that the younger ones had done quite well, of course in their day, before CUP forces had achieved brilliant successes, a young warrior could really test his mettle. Really develop their powers. The General was staring directly at his son as he said it.

Life as a feted hero did not sit well with James, wine, women, fortune and fame. He ignored them all. He picked fights in the streets, only to wander off in the middle, his opponents quite unable to hurt him.

"He was right, you know. I wasn't the only one either. Is it wrong to want another war? A lot of the boys wanted to have a crack at the FREEMers. But that wouldn't have solved the problem really. Once we creamed them, who would be left? Seemed to me that if it was good enough for the Rikti to come to our world, then I could go to another."

James, a newly minted Major bid farewell to his army, the combined remnants of the 9th Dragoons, and several infantry units that had come to be known as "Faultlinesmen". He approached his father and explained the problem. "I need the challenge like you had. I need the violence, the orderless. I need to realize my power." Faultline smiled broadly and clapped his son on the shoulder, and that is how an unstable random portal later he found himself in Primal Earth.
