Bio
Dacian McGillicuddy was a rarity amongst his family tree, being born without the hereditary mutant genome. While his two siblings discovered their latent gifts during adolesence, Dacian was left with a corroding self worth and the mindset of an outcast in his own home. When the family moved to Paragon City for educational purposes, he immediately took advantage of the connections the relocation brought and sought out a serum on the black market rumoured to grant physical superhuman abilities; an item he payed off with his education funds. The serum was successful in giving him abilities, sans one or two minor side effects...
Personality
Beastial instincts aside, Dacian is generally calm and silent unless approached, where he is quite capable of holding conversations when they are due - the key word being generally. On bette days, he is quite social in his own right. How he reveals himself to be is not necessarily what is true in that moment - he generally likes to mask his actual emotions which do indeed move turbulant under the surface. Family consider him to be quite loyal, sensitive and a willing listener. Unfortunately, when Dacian feels an attack on his psyche, and sarcasm can not save him, he is willing to lie to escape. It's either that, or the physical option which is rare enough when not in a frenzy.
Powers
Animal Communication
A primary ability, Dacian is capable of making successful communication with other animals through will due to a physiological alteration of his neopallium (neocortex), in which allows him to radiate unique signals through brainwaves. These signals send and receive specific information to other neopallia (thus limiting this link with strictly other mammals). As a seperate means of emotion and thought communication, this ability is not hindered by other communicational barriers. Between feral and beastial metahumans and supernatural creatures, Dacian is capable of telepathic communication.
Animal Mimicry
The serum granted Dacian photographic mimicry, which allows him to effectively imitate any animalistic behaviour (sometimes accompanied by his biological adaptive attributes) flawlessly by mere observation, including but not limited to vocalizations, mating patterns, physical prowess and defense mechanisms. These experiences are permanently retained in his memory.
Biological Adaption
Commonly utilized with his photographic mimicry, his body has shown the ability to instantly adapt itself under various conditions and circumstances. This may include the development of limbs, the shifting of vocal chords to allow appropriate vocalizations or a temporary but complete transformation of his physiology altogether. This ability has been categorized as a quasi-reactive adaptability, meaning these physiological changes may occur through concentration, or as a means of a defense mechanism his brain will trigger depending on the circumstances. Some examples include developing bat-like wings while freefalling in the sky, lungs and body adapting to deep pressures of the ocean, building extra fat within his body to maintain appropriate body temperatures and developing the ability to perceive infrasound. Whether consciously triggered or not his body will eventually revert back to his primary physiology, especially when danger is no longer perceived.
Abnormalities
The serum that Dacian ingested afflicted the primary state of his body. Without the help of his other abilities, he possesses natural heightened senses and physical ability; his strength, speed, agility, balance and stamina at times surpassing peak human levels. Due to the alteration of his neocortex, various but generally subtle (unless provoked) behavioural differences are noted, stemming from an animalistic nature. Another side-effect of the serum's influence over his physical body is the increase in pheromone potency, which enables those within his proximity to more easily 'perceive' his mood and register his pheromone signals and vice-versa. This has shown to effect both male and female equally, and depending on his adaptive configurations, any other mammal. Dacian has little if any control over this physiological change.
Weaknesses and Limitations
- Though he is able to gain temporary regenerative abilities or immunity from various diseases depending on the state of his physiology, Dacian by no means acquires any form of superhuman invulnerability. Though he is capable of dodging bullets while attentive, he can still be injured by weapons.
- Sometimes, changing his physiology also plagues him with new vulnerabilities simultaneously while granting him strengths.
- Dacian is able to take on properties of more than one mammal at a time. However, the larger the quantity of physiological shifts, the greater the strain on his body. He usually take on no more than three seperate properties at one time for this reason.
Other Notes
- Claims to gain his powers from a mutation when in public. The truth rarely comes out on this topic.
- Takes his status as a 'hero' fairly seriously. His costume is for real, and worn so that he has very few limitations while shifting physiological traits.
- Has mild agoraphobia, though he has become so adept in hiding this over the years that to others it is next to non-existant.
