Matthew "Dragonscar" Moore (here forward known as the "Subject") is a--presumed--powered human male. By appearances, Subject is physically healthy and average for a male in late adolescence/early adulthood.

Contents

Appearance

Subject displays the typical body build of an average young adult male. Has brown hair and eyes, typically wears a black leather jacket from unknown "charitable" source. Wears cheap, cotton, plain white t-shirts, and dark blue denim jeans, standard issued and payed for by city officials. All articles of clothing, less Subject's leather jacket, are stamped with bar-coded ID tags.

Notable markings include multiple scars on face, under the right eye and on lower left cheek. Scars also present over the rest of Subject's body, usually obscured from view. Source of scarring unknown, though speculation persists that they are burn markings. From these markings as well as abilities, Subject appears to have acquired the moniker "Dragonscar" in public eye.

Background

Subject does not speak openly on origins when directly questioned. Attempts to steer conversation casually towards this topic are typically met with anger and hostility. Physical altercations on these accounts are rare, but recommend Subject be monitored at all times from a safe distance in case of further instances of lost control.

Subject first appeared on Bureau radar on 7/20/2019. Gunshots are reported heard in a call to local police branch. Following this, a residential phone call to the fire department reports an explosion; many gang members were found at the scene with numerous third degree burns. Most are scarred permanently, and psychologically damaged. Many residences report a young man fleeing the scene smoldering.

Multiple reports of violence in the gang's territory begin surfacing. Many incidents are minor. Investigators discover DNA evidence left behind by Subject, and begin compiling a log file.

Active monitoring of Subject commenced on 8/11/2019 due to a large warehouse fire reported by local residents not long after gunshots were heard. No accelerants were detected by investigative team, and no source of fire was found. Warehouse was empty except for burned lumber. Source of fire believed to be related to the bodies of several charred gang members, presumed victims of Subject's abilities. Postmortem DNA analysis reveals deceased gang members were in the same gang as those of the preceding incident.

Security cameras (no audio feed) were able to capture the following contained in transcript form:

[8/10/2019 12:28:03]: (Subject appears to be warming self by fire in empty oil barrel, is alone)

[8/10/2019 12:28:24]: (In the background, one of the access doors to the warehouse is opened)

[8/10/2019 12:28:31]: (Unidentified figure peers into warehouse, spots Subject)

[8/10/2019 12:28:41]: (Multiple gang members rush in through warehouse door, Subject looks up)

[8/10/2019 12:28:43]: (Subject dives for cover behind lumber piles, gang members open fire with pistols)

[8/10/2019 12:28:49]: (Fires begin leaping from oil barrel and over gang members)

[8/10/2019 12:29:01]: (Firefight breaks out, fire begins to spread)

[8/10/2019 12:29:15]: (Subject leaves view, does not reappear; fire rages and spreads further)

[8/10/2019 12:29:33]: (Fire engulfs much of building, camera begins flickering due to heat)

[8/10/2019 12:29:33]: (Gang members trapped by falling, burning debris, access route blocked)

[8/10/2019 12:29:45]: (Multiple lumber racks collapse due to heat distortion, spreading blaze further)

[8/10/2019 12:30:11]: (Two gang members presumed deceased after collapse due to smoke inhalation)

[8/10/2019 12:31:04]: (Three gang members reappear, running through flames to get to access door)

[8/10/2019 12:31:10]: (Gang members unable to dislodge door--later found to have been warped by the heat)

[8/10/2019 12:31:33]: (Last gang members collapse, smoke fills most of warehouse, camera sight becomes limited)

[8/10/2019 12:31:47]: (Fire begins rising around camera)

[8/10/2019 12:32:00]: (Camera feed ends)

Subject is presumed to have left the gang members behind, leaving fire to cover escape. Presumably, Subject allowing gang members to die in blaze is an unintentional side-effect. Truth of the matter is not known for certain. Some victims are burned so badly that they cannot be identified. Bureau's search for Subject begins in earnest.

Subject's movements are erratic for a month. Gang violence becomes more vigorous. People believed to have housed or helped Subject in any way in particular are hardest hit.

Bureau finds and secures subject after two months of intensifying search. Multiple agents are called in, including those in the local police. Subject is approached by Agent ███████, acting as a liaison to local law enforcement. Permission is given to Agent ███████ to personally monitor and control Subject's activity, and give all encouragement required to maintain control, up to and including benefits.

Subject proves vital in eliminating all gang violence in affected neighborhood when coupled with police support. Newspaper reports label Subject ("Dragonscar", in the tabloids) as "a hero". Subject is provided with modest accommodations in exchange for continued services.

Addendum 2.20.2020

Two months post-integration into Bureau, Subject has begun displaying signs of mental instability: Examples include violent night terrors, severe headaches, random bouts of aggression, and talking to self when believed alone. In an effort to secure the facility, Subject is transitioned to non-flammable accommodations, and entered into advanced psychiatric screening for two months.

Subject responds slowly to therapy. Psychologists report murmurings of "Crimson" during periods of sleep in presumed isolation, and increasing uneasiness from Subject about remaining stationary too long. Psychologists comment that it is similar to prey being hunted in behavior.

Will continue observation for further mentioning of "Crimson", and possible threat level.

Addendum 3.24.2020

Subject mentions a female name "Valerie" during observed sleep cycle, then awakens in a distraught state. Subject refuses to speak further.

Addendum 4.2.2020

Bureau observes a Level 5 breach of security when Subject breaks out of secure confinement after a confrontation with an Agent. Subject blasts way through compound walls with temperatures in excess of 1400 degrees Celsius, and tracking is lost for several hours. Subject is found in assigned apartment.

Subject, after persuading from Agent ███████, returns to secure confinement for further observation. Periods of time in confinement for Subject are diminished to avoid repeat incidents.

Addendum 4.21.2020

Subject is placed back into service after no further incidents are recorded. Agent ███████ made primary observer, and reports directly to Warden ██████████. It is Bureau leadership's hope that Agent ███████ and Subject's relationship will allow for more information in the future.

Family/Friends

Subject has made no mention of parental figures to date. The closest to "family" Subject has spoken of is unconscious mentioning of "Valerie" and "Crimson". More data is necessary for elaboration.

DNA cross-matching for possible parents have come up negative.

Powers and/or Abilities

Subject's unique "talents" revolve around the ability to generate fire, heat, and pressure in unknown ways, as well as absorb them into his being. Subject can generate a substantial amount of fire by himself and wield it as a weapon, or utilize other outside sources to the same effort.

Subject has been observed to be capable of also absorbing heat and flame to no detriment of his own health or safety. Absorption of fire and heat energy is noted to cause a dramatic increase in Subject's own body temperature. As Subject absorbs more energy to self, the hotter he becomes. Record temperatures have been noted to be well in excess of 10,000 degrees Celsius, before test was aborted due to environmental hazards.

Bureau scientists administrating the test theorize that there is no upper limit to the amount of energy Subject can absorb, but advise caution when approaching at extreme temperatures. Past 1,000 degrees Celsius, Subject seems to "bleed" energy into the surrounding environment, likened by scientists as "a walking nuclear reactor".

Attempts to "cool" Subject in such a state require considerable amounts of temperature neutralizing agents, such as water or foam. Note: At extreme temperatures, it has been observed that over 50,000 gallons of water were utilized during the test, all of which was evaporated. Foam was then liberally applied until heat levels returned to normal.

Addendum 7.12.2020

A number of Bureau scientists have postulated that Subject's source of flame generation revolves around a massive bio-energy field. Scientist team theorizes that Subject is capable of manipulating field into such concentrated areas that intense friction causes air or other materials to ignite spontaneously.

Sources of Subject's large energy matrix remain unknown. How Subject is able to manipulate this field is currently being explored.

Addendum 8.2.2020

In-field agents have observed Subject utilizing heat-manipulation for the ability to propel self off of ground and fly, similar to a missile or rocket. Top speed estimated to be approximately 200kph (about 140mph). Subject appears to have little precise maneuvering capabilities, though observations have shown that control is improving with practice.

Weaknesses

Bureau scientists, post-testing of Subject's limits, uncovered a "weakness". In the event of exposure to extreme cold, Subject "bleeds" energy rapidly to compensate and maintain temperature. Presently, it is believed the critical temperature is 2-3 degrees Celsius or lower. Subject appears to become disoriented in more extreme colds due to anatomy.

Warden ██████████ is currently discussing possible exploration of this finding with The Seven as a future contingency plan.

Project "Paladin"

After the information presented by Warden ██████████ to the Seven Council, it was agreed by the majority that a contingency plan is required to contain Subject should he go rogue.

First contingency plan, code-named "Paladin", involves ice-based weaponry being equipped to a specially-trained agent. Present candidates are Agents █████, ██████, and ████, Subject's sparring partners and trainers. Project was commenced on ██/█/████, and commandos have been shipped in from auxiliary bases in ███ █████ for advanced tactical training for all involved in Project "Paladin".

Project "Icebox"

The Seven Council have made mention of a second possible contingency plan, code-named Project "Icebox". Details are considered Top Secret for the time being, and are not to be documented until unanimously cleared by the Warden and the Seven.

Unclassified data on the project consists of a large amount of specially-molded tungsten alloy, as well as large amounts of electronic equipment. Multiple scientists involved on the testing of Subject's limits are being reassigned for their expertise.

((OOC: Looking for Contact))

Looking for: Someone interested in gritty, real-to-life roleplay, showing that the lives of heroes are rarely perfect--and aren't even always that great. Would fit in-head canon better if it were a female heroine/rogue/vigilante, though males or groups will work just as well. (Romances with him are POSSIBLE--certainly not required--for female characters, but he's rather standoffish at first if you go that route, almost to the point of asexuality.)

Interested in: Stories, in-game roleplaying. Stories revolving around this character will be dark and unpleasant at times, especially when more of the past becomes unveiled. Anyone who plays with me has to like cliffhangers. I'm not going to give you everything all at once. Erotic-roleplay takes a VERY distant backseat to simple storytelling, but I'm not above it--especially if it has the potential to complicate issues even further.

(NOTE: A link to a full, out-of-character profile, detailing this character's biography is here.)
