"When old age shall this generation waste? Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe Than ours, a friend to man, to thou say'st Beauty is Truth, Truth Beauty, - that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know." - John Keats
Appearance
Maurice is of a prim and proper type, always making sure his hair is groomed perfectly, clothes are pressed and clean, shoes are shined and buffed. Damn, near close to a metrosexual. Attuned to the mortal world around him, he tends to go with what the fashion is at the time. Though, he particularly sticks to the trend in Italy and Milan and discarding what most consider fashion is the U.S.
Style
This was mentioned briefly above. Maurice LOVES the trends originating from his homeland and Milan. This would include the finest Italian leather shoes sported with silk socks that usually match his shirts or tie. Expensive suits all custom tailored to give him the best fit and look that he demands. His belts are even tailored for him because he thinks the excess belt leftover after buckling is tacky and not needed.
Personality
History
On the summer night of August 2nd 1942, Maurice heads home in the early night from a long days work. He had been working for the Medici, specifically for Lorenzo de' Medici, some what as a hired help and a teacher of swordsmanship. On his way home, unware that he was being followed, he opens the door to his home, and closes it behind him, ready to settle down with his family, Maddalena, his wife, and Halibel, his three year old daughter.
Before even given the chance to lock the door, the man that followed Maurice home, breaks in the door, and viciously attacks the stunned Maurice. Yelling for his wife and daughter to book it upstairs and hide as the attacker commences to beat Maurice senseless, eventually knocking him out. Rosabella Moretti, Maurice's great grandmother, who he has never met, was out doing her customary, once a week checking on her potential progeny, sees this.
Having gotten permission to sire him ages ago, Rosabella was waiting for Maurice to father a son and was for certain his son would survive before making Maurice sterile vampire, hurries to Maurice in fear that he will die. Knocked out, his wounds were not obvious and in a panic she embraces him only to be jumped by the attacker, who had put in work on the unconscious Maurice a few minutes ago.
Sebastian Fournier, Rosa's vampire sibling and lover, feels her fear and panic through their bond and heads with all haste toward her location. Upon his arrival, Sebastian finds Maurice in the throes of the change and Rosabella in torpor and is about to be diablerized. Without a second though, Sebastian unsheaths his sword and deftly strikes a blow to the neck of the attacker, expertly lopping off his head. The manuever was so precise that Rosa was never even touched, nor did any of the attackers blood tarnish her perfect skin.
Paniced, Sebastian drops his sword to snatch up the torpored Rosabella. Picking up her limp body and hurries out the door leaving Maurice there along with the now slain attacker. As Sebastian secures the body of Rosabella, Maurice regains consciousness and a hunger never felt before in his entire life. The beast inside him rages as he scurries around his villa scrounging to feed his hunger. Making it upstairs, he catches his wife and daughter in a corner. His wife stands to check on her husband, only for him to pounce on her, ferally digging his fangs into her flesh, drinking her dry.
Killing his wife, his beast urges him to give in more to his hunger. Grabbing his daughter by her neck he stares into her, listening to her cries of for her daddy to stop. Ignoring him, Maurice bites into her throat, feeding upon his own child until her cries turn to whisper then to silence. Securing Rosa's body, Sebastian comes back hooded to deal with the aftermath. Searching for Maurice around the destroyed villa, he finds Maurice still leeching from his daughters neck, just ending her short life. Prying Maurice off his dead childe, Sebastian introduces himself as Lereaux, and explains to Maurice that, he will be guiding him the in the decades to come.
Maurice spent the next eleven months, visiting Lereaux and spending nights at a time reading and studying the endless amount of Toreador history in his library. There were even long bouts of discussion on these topics and other various things improtant to Toreador history and culturethat took place there with the crypt of Rosabella just under their feet. Ultimately, Lereaux never kept a tight leash on Maurice. Letting him figure out most things on his own but would without Maurice knowing check up on him.
Unbeknownst to Maurice, that the Medici had kindred members in their ranks and a fued with Adrian Viguerie, Rosabella's and Sebastian/Lereaux sire, has been going on for decades. The tension flaring up, Sebastian learns of a possible hit on him and being the thorough and percise man that he is along with the thought of Rosabella's great grandson dying over something he is not involved in, contacts Maurice as Lereaux. Maurice meeting him at his haven, Lereaux apologizes to Maurice, and in the midst of Maurice's confusion, Lereaux drives a stake into Maurice's chest, dragging his body to a safe spot until he loses enough blood to go into torpor.
Sebastian wanting to get out of Florance to flee the violence in Florence, carefully hides the torpored bodies of Maurice and Rosabella in creates and ships them to France, to another haven of his. The upcoming centuries brought voluntary torpor for Sebastian. Waking up every so often to check on the two and taking care of any issues that may have come up and maintaining his knowledge of the modern world to share it with Rosabella when she would awaken. Even spending years at a time to extricate the lines of enemies their sire seemed to have gained over time.
Centuries pass, and Rosabella wakes from her slumber while they are in France. The two lovers have thier moment but Rosa eventually askes where Maurice is, Sebastian explains that he is living elsewhere and when she is ready they will seek him out. With that, two years pass, Rosabella learns the ways of the modern world, being cloistered by Sebastian being taken care of and having their blood bond strengthened. At one point, feeling he can leave Rosa alone, he endures a voyage, taking the oversize casket containing Maurice, hidden within a crate to the Isles, specifically Sharks before returning for Rosabella. About sixteen months into Rosa's acclimation with the modern world Sebastian purchases a yacht in Port Oakes and move Rosa and him there, letting Rosa continue her learning process.
Sebastian feeling that Rosa is about ready to seek out Maurice, he travels to Sharks, wearing the same hooded robe from back then, wakes Maurice. Maurice wakes up rritated, Sebastian, gets him food, a black American Express card for him to find shelter and some clothes. The night of January 26th, Sebastian leaves the confused Maurice to fend for himself again, and goes to stalk the streets of the Isles, gathering information, and learning that there is traditions one must follow at this time. Meeting a Ms. Giovanni, she explains the traditions to him at a party and arranges for him to meet the prince, Morgan.
Lying to the prince about who is sire was, the prince suspects nothing and acknowledges him, sending him off. Weeks later, Maurice meets Kaliegh Verdezza through a mutual friend, and explains to her his situation, where she takes him under her and takes over responsibility of him.

IC Opinions
"I enjoy Maurice's company about as much as any sane woman could enjoy the company of a sweet, attractive man from one of the Romantic countries. I suppose he has his faults... easilly distracted being one, though that little trait is a particular amusement of mine. I believe Maurice to be a genuinely decent person, regardless of what certain people may think." - Chelsea Miller
