Put on a wig with a million curls,
Put the highest heeled boots on your feet,
Yet you remain in the end just what you are.

Max was once a rising star in Praetoria's Powers Division, but his fame has faded during his time on "Primal" Earth, as the fickle public found new idols to cheer for. Disavowed by Marauder, he has begun gathering a "crew" from both dimensions in a personal bid for power, seeking to supplant his former boss and perhaps even the Emperor himself. These allies are only of convenience, and he wouldn't hesitate to betray, discard or sacrifice them if necessary.
Max has no Arachnos patron; his true master, who first granted him his powers and then added to them, is an entity who has never told Max its name or manifested in his presence.
Personality
Max is clever, a quick thinker and fast talker, a veteran con artist. When things are going his way, he's almost as charming as he thinks he is, but he quickly reverts to thuggish brutality when frustrated. He's selfish and always looking for an angle.
Max is obsessed with the pursuit and acquisition of power. "More power" is his solution to everything, including the problems that arise from what he already has. At some point, he believes, he will finally have "enough" to get everything he wants. But for all that power that he's stolen or struggled or bargained for, or wrested from the Well of the Furies itself... he's still just a hustler, a gangsta, and the slave of whoever holds his leash.
Powers
Max Thunder has made a dark pact for supernatural power, which takes the form of red-tinted electrical arcs. He's able to wrap this power around him defensively, radiate it from his body and throw it from his hands; he can even convert his body to pure electricity, and/or teleport himself or others in a flash (a process he calls "riding the lightning").
The similarity of his powers to those wielded by the ancient bloodline of Mu, and the ability of his mysterious patron to travel freely between (or exist outside) both dimensions, raises many questions. One strong possibility is that his "benefactor" is the Goddess Hequat herself.
Electric Melee
Max can charge his already hard-hitting fists with magic lightning, to shocking effect. The damage he does increases with his anger.
Electric Armor
The same power surrounds Max, energizing him and weakening his foes, as well as making a very impressive light-show. He normally has fine enough control of this electric aura to keep from accidentally frying allies, bystanders, nearby electrical equipment or his own cell phone, but this control can slip if he's angry or hurt enough.
Teleport
Perhaps the wildest example of Max's powers is the ability to transform himself or others briefly into electricity, traveling hundreds of yards in a clap of thunder. He's even managed to turn this into an attack, building up his power before teleporting into a group of enemies and releasing it [i.e., Lightning Rod].
Mu Mastery
After his first defeat at the hands of his heroic counterpart, Max Thunder's patron agreed to empower him further... for a price. Although initially horrified at his transformation, he has come to revel in his new power.
Equipment
Since his transformation, Max has acquired an amulet with a glamour that hides his new form and lets him appear human again. His vanity is such that he wears it almost constantly. The illusion is easily pierced by anyone of moderate magical talent, and can be temporarily dispelled by a stronger one.
