Character History
Early Life and Career
Marcus Joseph Jones was born on June 14 1973, at East Harlem General Hospital, New York City to Vietnam War veteran James Jones and his wife, Valerie. As a child, Marcus was a promising athlete, excelling in Basketball and Football. In his Sophmore, Junior and Senior years, he earned All-American honors in both sports and was heavily recruited by Division 1 colleges such as Duke, North Carolina, USC and Florida. At 18 years of age, Marcus decided to forgo college (and his scholarships) and instead enlisted in the United States Military.
Rikti War
After 10 years of service, Marcus was eventually promoted to the rank of Captain due to his excellence in the field and leadership qualities. Marcus was eventually recruited into various WetWork operations due to his skills. During the Rikti War, Marcus lead a special BlackOps unit called the "Sleeper Hounds", which specialised in Rikit mothership sabotage as well as assassinations. ((TBC))
Birth of Metacide
"Project: Salvation" is a 'correctional' program designed by the Three Kings (the organisation behind the Steadfast Soldier Initiative) to put war criminals to use. "Project: Salvation" involves the subject being subjected to Dr. Frank and Dr. Kirilenko's "Gen-Tap" method. The supervisor for the project was Dr. Alex Museman, a specialist in nano-technology. The "Gen-tap" method allows cybernetics and genetics to be combined. The subject was to be injected with a special serum designed by Dr. Museman that consisted of modified nano-machines (gen-tap engineered) that restructured his DNA to make him faster, stronger, and more intelligent. The test subjects prior to Marcus Jones died from the method due to thier gene strands being unable to "fuse" with the nano-machines. Once the nano-machines fused with Jones' DNA, the result was something in which no one could've predicted. Jones' skin turned jet black, became highly resistant to most harmful objects and substances on earth, as well as grew in height and in build.
Soon after the experiment was done, Jones was placed in the United States military's Special MetaHuman Extermination Unit, or SMEs. He was given the codename "Metacide" and his job was to eliminate PostHuman and MetaHuman threats to the United States of America.
