Personality
Having been ushered into a career by some of the world's top scientist, Travis Avery led a very happy life. He was engulfed in all of his work - and his prototype of the Visor, a device he would later use on himself. He was a braniac, and though shy at first about complements, he would eventually not be afraid to show his brilliance. All in all, he was happy.
However, it was not meant to last.
When his wife died, he wasn't happy. He didn't care that he had the brains, which ruined his social life. All that mattered was that he could no longer love. For months, he was remorseful and bitter, and he thought that the world was against him. It was then that he looked at his old Visor plans. A wave of hope and courage flooded through his veins. He worked hard, constructing the Visor, until one day, he put it on for the first time. It was then that Avery decided there was more to life.
He now fights crime with a sense of nobility, knowing that his wife did not die without reason. Though the want for revenge remains with him, his brainy self is back and wanting a tasted of action.
The Visor
The Visor is a device that covers the eyes and is able to hi-jack the optical nerveway, taking the impulses from the eyes to the brain (and vice versa) and manipulating them. The Visor can also create sudden impulses, allowing the brain to function in ways naturally impossible.
Mind Control and Manipulation
Using the impulses sent from the eyes, the Visor can add new information and thrust the impulse through the target's eyes, into the brain, causing the person to unwillingly do whatever Mindclash wants, from attacking a friend to cause self damage.
Hormone Stimulation
Branching off from the mind control, the Visor is able to send impulses to the brain directly to send out various hormones. Certain of these hormones mixed can create abilities not found in a normal human, such as enhanced speed, durability, and strength. A recent development with the Visor has allowed Mindclash to force hormone impulses through in reverse, to his own brain. This allows him the same advantages, and serious concentration allows for flight.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Wearing the Visor creates a visibility issue. Digital images must be transported to the brain because the nerves are blocked in his eyes. If water enters the opening in the visor, it could shock the brain and render Mindclash unconscious, though the amount of water would have to be sufficient. Also, when one insults his work, or if he sees a Rikti, he becomes enraged. The reason for this is that his life was spent working with his wife, and the Rikti are the ones who murdered her.
