History
Melody lead a happy, normal life until the death of her mother at age ten. This would create a gap between her and her once beloved father, who became a hateful alcoholic that gave her hardly any attention at all, and when he did it was usually in the form of violent assault. This would last for five years until her father savagely beat her one last time with a metal bat and abandoned her. Not wanting to live in an orphanage, Melody, age fifteen, ran away to live on her own.
While she lived alone for one year on the streets, she and three others were eventually approached by a mysterious old man (Actually, whether they came to him or he came to them, none of them can really remember). He was described as “Having eyes that were there but weren’t, and a voice that came from everywhere and his mouth at once, but not really like an echo.” This man, although he didn’t explain why, turned them into literal magnets for exess magic power, pulling it in and redirecting it.
Jeffrey, age eighteen, would be the first to take up fighting crime under the name “Captain Millennium”, and Billy, age thirteen, would take the mantle as his sidekick later as “Century Lad”. The elderly Tom would soon thereafter become known as “Major Millennium”, and acted as a mentor for the two, as he’d taken some time to study the nature and control of his powers. Melody, at the time sixteen, would be the last to join the group, going by the name “Miss Millennium”.
They would fight together as a team for three years, the Major even managing to convince Melody to get her GED and go to college. She would be successful in this, paying off most of the debts with money from modeling. She began having a sex based relationship with the Captain at age eighteen, the Captain twenty-one, having been drawn to him for some time. However, upon the Captain’s death during their third year as a team, everyone went their separate ways.
Melody specifically dropped out of college and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. It was here that she began her career as a stripper, in time almost forgetting her former life as a hero altogether. However, upon hearing that Kid Captain Millennium, a later addition to the team and biological clone of the original Captain, had reestablished himself under the name “Commander Century” in Paragon City, which followed by the original Century Lad becoming the new Captain in Paragon and the Major moving to the city but not returning to heroism just yet, Melody decided to move to the city as well.
Tweaking her old costume and becoming a new, solo hero, Melody would soon become a successful freelance hero in the city.
Life Today
Melody continues her career as a stripper, but heroes freelance in her spare time. She’s made many friends in the city, most notably Narah Zeman, Grey Harlequin, Atomic Corona, Zapgirl, Hott Enough, and p0ck3t r0ck3t. Most of her time not heroing or stripping is spent hanging out at the Pocket D, often going to center stage to meet the DJ's of the Cape radio. She currently lives in the Galaxy City area of Paragon. Her heroing career is not state funded and is instead more of a freelance private business making her quickly accessable through text on her 'Millennium Phone', or she'll simply go on patrol and help those in need (she needless to say doesn't charge for these services, unless a particular contact is willing to pay). She refers to this as "looking out for the little guy".
Personality
Despite her rough history, or perhaps because of it, Melody is an extremely upbeat and cheerful person in her life at Paragon City. Very personable and loving having people around her, Melody often comes to the Pocket D to hang out with her current friends and/or meet some new ones. Very comfortable with her looks and sexuality, she is known to be very forward in relationships, but at times has been described as being something of a tease. Often, depending on her attitude at the moment, she'll even sometimes be a tease to the enemies she fights, which she describes as "My you'll-never-get-this-and-I'm-about-to-beat-the-crap-outta-you" meathod.
Powers
Thanks to her encounter with the mysterious wizard-like being, Mel has become something of a magic nexus, siphoning off excess magic power in the atmosphere and storing it in and around her body. This allows her unaided flight, superhuman strength ("I can rip apart a tank with my bare hands"), superhuman speed (though not as fast as some speedsters in the city, as proven in a race with Grey Harlequin), and perhaps her most notable ability is to crystalize the magic around her into spikes, which she can use for melee combat or ranged attack by throwing the crystels.
Weaknesses/Limitation
Melody's greatest weakness could in fact be her lust. She is easily bent to the will of gorgeous men and women, and can completely lose focus of any situation as a result of this. While her Katt persona is completely asexual and her Charlie persona, while a sexual person, is able to reign in these desires, Melody herself has numerous times lost control of situations because of these urges. Her often cocky attitude in situations also tends to have her think she can take on situations far beyond her capacity, another weakness she in the future will need to work on.
The Story So Far
Her extended time in Pocket D has lead to a number of... interesting occurrances. Her first noteworthy encounter would be with the villain known as D'ark Fate, who's incredible charisma and charm, mixed with his "darkness", allowed him to use Melody's own lust against her. She began refering to him as "Master" as he slowly began taking control of every element of her life with her ever increasing lust for him overruling her rational thought. However, it was also during this time that she would begin spending extended periods of time with Narah Zeman, a being who would exude so much magic energy that Melody's powers would form a secondary being, going by the name of Katt. When Katt and Melody would merge they would be able to form the incredibly powerful "Miss Cheshire", or Charlie, who knew of the darkness within herself and sought help from Zeman. Zeman managed to rid her of the darkness within herself, but in Melody's eyes she simply lost interest in Fate. This has, however, boosted her sex drive to the degree it was at before she met the man, and she's had a much wider eye in regards to sexual activity. Her Katt and Charlie personalities are still active as well, and occasionally come to the D... confusing the hell out of everyone, mostly those who know Mel personally.
Dissapearance
Melody, due to the erratic nature of her powers, had a few months ago been ripped away from most accessable planes of existance and torn into another dimension all but incomprehensable to most beings. She never even got a chance to say goodbye to all of her friends, "get to know" Harley a little bit more, or explain to them the circumstances. She may one day return to the city, but for now, she's gone.
Trivia
-Almost all of Melody's clothes are plum purple, usually with some black trim on them. Needless to say the dark shade of purple is her favorite color.
-A talent Melody rarely speaks of is her skill as a sketch artist. She's able to use this in the same light as a forensic investigator would (taking descriptions and working them into sketches), but for the most part she uses it for only one purpose: Drawing the men and women she sleeps with. Interestingly she always mixes animalistic properties (i.e. spots, tails, etc.) to them, and the meaning behind individual traits is something she doesn't expressly think of, she says they just come to her as she draws.
-Melody began smoking cigarettes when she was about fifteen, and still regularly smokes. She has a custom made plum purple zippo lighter with her simplistic "M" insignia in a black circle on its center, and she switches brands to some relative regularity. Currently she's smoking Camel Wide Menthols.
-Melody is a caffeine fiend, and while she drinks all sorts of blends at coffee shops she almost exclusively orders black coffee while at the D.
-Though a relatively new listener of the Cape Radio, Melody has fast become a fan, her personal favorite DJ being One Hit Wonder.
-Melody/Miss Millennium is loosely based off of a number of people/characters: Mary Marvel of the DC comics Marvel Family, Ms. Marvel from Marvel Comics/the Avengers, Sayoko Bizen from the hentai series “Slut Girl” (The only one I've read through, it's... actually got a good story, I recomend it. Even if you don't like that sorta crap.), Sierra (Real life best friend), The Cheshire Cat (In her splinter personality of “Katt”) from “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, Stripperella (remember that show?),and Jean Grey of the X-Men.
-The name of the first city she heroed in, "Thold City", is what happens when I never fully RP something into fruition. Basically every single time someone would ask something about her past, I'd just make her call her previous heroing city "the old city", so for this I just portmanteau-ed that into something. I guess this worked out well, I mean it's easier than using a real city and I don't have to do the generic superhero thing and just have a 'heroic adjective' before the word city :P.
