Nariko was designed along an old idea DWR had, revisioned to have a slightly less dark and more grand backstory, but, in short, someone who couldn't die, and wanted to. She's grown a bit since then, but would probably still leap at a chance to die.

Personality

Nariko has widely varying moods, although she's usually not very loud. She tends from almost depressed, at the very least taciturn, to bouncing with energy and ready to take on the world... in a fairly disciplined way. About the only place she really lets herself go is online, where she often uses multiple online personae in the same forum, each with a different use that only she really knows.

Powers

Due to what she says was an accident, she found she could heal her injuries almost as fast as they were made. After a brief testing period, which included falling almost 200 stories to the ground, she found she still hadn't found the limit of her abilities. This is due to an overflow of life-force, which she has learned to harness in other methods as well.

Ki Flow

Drawing from her innate regenerative abilities, she is able to heal any wound, and push her body well past the limits it would normally endure, including, in one instance, decapitation. She has learned to harness this ability to lessen the effect of blows and other attacks to her person.

Martial Arts

Having trained in several arts before her cousin taught her one perfectly adapted to her chi flow, she now primarily uses her family's Sword Without Sword style, which focuses chi to the point where her bare hands and feet can break rifle bores with a single strike, and cause massive damage to more yielding flesh.

Flight

She has recently mastered her chi flow to the point that it can propel her above the ground. Along with this has come a bright aura visible for miles. Although normally she flies at a similar speed to others in Paragon, in times of crisis and combat she has briefly broken the sound barrier.

Character History

This is Nariko's history, as given by her and various official records. If you want her real history, it can be found here. Warning: Spoilers.

Childhood

Yoko and Hiroshi Watanabe were childhood sweethearts, and never lost that feeling. Nariko was their only child, despite many attempts to have others, so they showered her with attention and love. Being moderately wealthy, both from inheritance, and getting into IT back before it seemed to be the hot ticket, she grew up a semi-spoiled child. Of course there were the occasional spats and arguements, but for the most part, she had a happy childhood.

Rikti Invasion and Aftermath

Her parents were in business in Baumton, while she was staying with her grandmother in Seattle, when the Rikti invaded. Seattle managed to avoid any real disasters, but her parents were never found. After her grandmother made sure all of her physical needs were taken care of, and at Nariko's insistance, she was left at her parent's penthouse apartment in Steel Canyon. While she worked well on her schoolwork, she didn't put any effort into making any friends, and fell into a fairly strong depression.

Discovery of Powers

During an accident with a kitchen knife, she found that what would've otherwise been a life-threatening cut was healed almost instantly. She tested this for several days before going to various experts on the subject of super-powers. As far as anyone could tell, she was fully human, and not at all mutated, although MAGI claimed some faint echo of magic could be found on her. Nariko shrugged, and joined up with ELITE at 16. Due to what ELITE labelled as overconfidence, and her status as a minor, her medical teleporter was rigged to spring slightly earlier than usual, causing her to complain often. One evening as she was looking online, and found some links that led to the Teen Squadron homepage, so she signed up with there.

Recent Events

After fighting against the Rikti and Lost in the Crash Site with several others, and the invasion of Paragon, she's been noticed flying around, with a glowing aura. After being trapped in an alternate universe, she left Teen Squadron, and joined up with the Guardian Angels, who had rescued her.
