Early History
Caleb West was born to Clark West and Isabella Baker in the small town of Jen’s Keep which is located in the ruins of what once was Chicago on February 14th 2044. Ten years later a group of raiders lured a pack of zombies into Jen’s Keep. Despite being prepared for such an emergency, the majority of the citizens of Jen’s Keep were killed. Clark and his son were some of the last living among the horde. After several days of holding off, Shadowlance soldiers of the 7th Hazard Legion passed through the area. The soldiers attempted to rescue the survivors, but in the commotion Clark was infected by the zombies and mercy killed by the soldiers. Caleb was taken to the Shadowlance military base known as The Compound, as it was his wish to become a soldier in order to protect himself from the monsters that killed everyone he ever knew.
The Shadowlance
He was trained and educated for six years and then served as a rifleman in the Shadowlance military before transferring to the Hazard division in 2062. In 2063 his squad destroyed the gang of raiders that doomed his hometown leaving only his lofty goal of zombie genocide. In 2065 his squad was called upon to assist in the destruction of a Necross bone golem and the army escorting it. In the battle every Shadowlance soldier was killed except for Caleb. Despite being seriously injured, he managed to single-handedly destroy the golem.
Upon his return he was transferred to the secret super soldier project; Titan. During the next year he was augmented with experimental procedures and further trained as a Shadowlance operative.
In February of 2067, Caleb was to infiltrate a base containing mutants the Shadowlance deemed undesirable. He incapacitated or killed the mutants with support from Hazards. In the base a strange device constructed by a mechanically gifted mutant, a technopath, was found. Scientists were able to activate it, but unable to determine where it led.
Caleb’s patron was disliked by a large portion of the Shadowlance Council, and as a blow to him, it was decided that West would be sent into the portal to investigate a possible escape from the ruined world. He was sent through on February 14th 2067 with nothing but a duffel bag of ammunition and supplies, and his armor and weapons.
Primal Earth
On March 7th 2009, Caleb appeared in the back alleys of Paragon City and was instantly amazed by a different world untainted by nuclear fire. Immediately he decided that he must return to his world so that he can evacuate its people. He applied for temporary citizenship as a extradimensional refugee and registered with the Freedom Corps so that, for once in his life, he would be able to use his talents for the common good.
A month later he discovered the Five Minutes to Midnight organization and was drawn to it because of their stance regarding defense of this world, a place beyond the undead plague and violent mutations of his home. He was accepted into it on (date time) and has assisted in its various operations since.
Recent Events
Since coming to Paragon City Caleb has become a lot more cool headed, but whenever he sees a zombie-like or undead being all that is lost in vengeful aggression, something he’s trying to control as it impacts his ability to work with his team.
Skills and Abilities
During his time spent in the Shadowlance's military, Caleb acquired various means of fighting through his training and augmentation.
=Superhuman Flexibility=
The augmentation process increased Caleb’s reaction time and flexibility beyond most humans. This allows him to use his kick based martial arts to great effect, allowing him to keep his hands free for other weapons as needed.
Minor Regeneration
West can recover from most injuries in roughly half the time it would take an un-enhanced human.
Weapons Training
Years of training have made him an expert marksman with his weapons of choice; the Legion-30 assault rifle and the GLADIUS semi-automatic pistol. He is also capable of using just about any weapon to great effect and is knowledgeable in the repair and upkeep of firearms.
Weapons and Paraphernalia
Caleb prefers to use martial arts in his new life as a hero, but he possesses weapons in case of things he can’t harm just by kicking them, or if confronted by zombies, his lifelong enemy.
=Shadowlance Environment Suit=
Caleb’s suit is air tight and bullet proof. It is tough enough to prevent damage from most blows, yet light and flexible enough to allow him to fight hand-to-hand. Due to time spent wearing it and increasing paranoia, he rarely wears anything else.
Shadowlance Weapons
Being the weapons he is most familiar with, given a situation in which they are required, Caleb would use the weapons he brought from his world. These include a Legion-30 Assault Rifle, the standard weapon carried by Shadowlance soldiers, two GLADIUS Semi-Automatic Pistols, Shadowlance's standard sidearm, and a combat knife.
Lucky Headband
Before his father died, he gave this long, black headband to Caleb. He wears it over an easily grip able point on the faceplate of his suit. He considers it to be good luck and is rarely seen without it.
Apocalyptic Earth
Caleb West hails from an Earth where super heroism and villainy did not exist, and the majority of its surface was devastated in a nuclear war. This dimension has not yet been detected by Portal Corp, but the technology brought by West is proof of its existence. What follows is an analysis of the dimension's factions and conditions compiled from information gathered from Caleb West, which only extends to information on northeast America and the Midwest.
Condition
The entire planet is in the clutches of nuclear winter, and a massive amount of the population has been killed, either by the nuclear strikes, or by the rampant mutants created by the strikes.
Shadowlance
Shadowlance is the most organized of the known factions.
((OOC Notes))
West rarely uses his first name.
West is based on my own crazy imagination and a mixture of traits from Frank West, Master Chief, and Solid Snake.
