Personalty

Awilix grew up in a culture flowing with excess magical power. When this was all lost, she attained a small 'control/power complex.' She loved and loves to have as much control as possible over any situation and has consistently tried to gain more power through means of magical objects and artifacts. Although this has cooled down in age, it continues to show in her inordinately manipulative personality.Likewise, the more capable she has become in her ability to fit in with new cultures, the less she has cared about doing it. Today, her mannerisms are often artifacts of old behaviors and her english is occasionally mixed in with the wrong tense, an exotic verb or an awkward adjective. Her choice in clothing tends to be something between a hodge-podge of gaudy past cultures or next to nothing at all (Or, simply, nothing at all), the latter owing to her long time as various kinds of slaves in various poor cultures.

Her need for control has edged into every part of her life, including her many and unrestrained relationships with other men and women. Although she does not dominate in the typical way- her whip is usually just used for controlling demons- most of her connections to other people have a touch of this. Awilix brooding over them with they as her pets, Awilix battling back and forth in a passionate tug of way of dominating and submissive tendencies with other people, Awilix reluctantly or gladly settling as the submissive one of the two- et cetera. She values control and power, but not in the end all way of some typical villainess.

Notably, she has a very strong, if peculiar, moral code. Due to her long life practicing the arcane and meeting with spirits and demons, she doesn't find death to be a wholly horrible experience compared to what it 'could be.' Only in extreme circumstances will she trap and sap creatures for an eternity, but she has much less qualms with killing them or burning them to a toasty crisp. Her control problems also seep into this moral code, taking the form of her 'relationship' with government and its military. Awilix is very quick to criticize a controlling power simply because she knows how powerful control can be. Obviously, looking at places like Kings Row disgusts her and has destroyed her respect for Paragon. Curiously, she doesn't seem to recognize Recluse as a ruling power, so, she has less problems with him.

History

Summary

Awilix's history is long, spans every continent and has touched every land except Japan, China and that general area. As such, the history as it goes below isn't complete and leaves out a few vacations to places such as Russia or the Coralax Empire. This is mainly here to give a peek into Awilix and show her some of her stronger influences. It's intentionally rambling and told in the way that Awilix would, leaving out her strongest influences intentionally.

Young life

Born to a young couple and named after their culture's moon goddess, Awilix grew up in the ancient city of Oranbega. Awilix's parents, practitioners of a then-recently rediscovered magic, were some of the most fervent and brainwashed followers of Mu'Rhakmet, a Mu infiltrator who set out to disturb the balance in Oranbega. Despite this, the majority of Awilix's life proceeded as normal. She eventually joined a teenage pacifist group dedicated to opposing Mu'Rhakmet's message, eventually becoming a young Martyr in the ineffective, small-scale youth movement. One evening, while she was protesting the growing tensions with her comrades, she was swept up by unnamed and unknown invaders and disappeared; only to be rediscovered as one of the common demon binding magicians fighting for the Oranbegan's cause.

The newest mage to the Oranbegan ranks.

Suddenly a stranger to her family, she spent her remaining days learning the darker powers that the demons offered; possession, the control of elements, the binding of creatures, and more. As history went, the wars were ceased by the binders themselves, their demons turning on the Oranbegans once their contract to destroy all of the Mu was canceled. Her ghastly friends and family wept as she was not found among the spectres of Oranbega's ruin, presumed to have been stolen into some fiery hell worse then eternal entrapment.

Rebirth

Rising from the depths of the ocean, she found herself standing beside a long, winding river at the edge of small nomadic camp. She was quick to assimilate herself into their protective family, utilizing her powers of possession and parasitic magic. She worked her way through various tribes and peoples, eventually settling in a comfortable slave population of an old and long forgotten ruler. She silently watched the pyramids go up and down, careful to keep herself from gaining any sort of publicity or political power. Millennium later and suddenly unable to resist her newest bodies' urges, she found herself attached to some innocent merchant, errant of some far off city-state. She stole away on his slave-ship and sighed a great breath when he died on their voyage to Athens.

I. Am. Sparta!

The years started to blur together after she settled back in as a timeless apothecary in her new home, only resisting those same urges for a few decades before burning through a slew of husbands and the occasional wife. Due to a mild misunderstanding relating to her more poisonous herbs, she found herself banished, eventually landing in the mighty land of Laconia. Quick to slither into this new military culture, in no time at all she found herself as the helot were; fighting off Spartan warriors from her home and life while working to supply them with the very weapons and food they used. On one fateful night, a Spartan boy wandered his way back to his village with a golden glint in his eyes.

She's proud of her greek heritage.

He became one of the most elite hoplite, taking a trophy wife of the highest caliber. Dying in the great battle of Themoplae, his strong wife suddenly went into labor and brought forth a young, hypnotically adorable golden eyed girl. Due to her rebellious nature and haughty, elder-like attitude, she landed herself [back] in the helot population at the age of 'young adult'.

The Young British Helot

Far more careful to keep herself out of the public eye, Luna- the name she now went by in remembrance of her birth name- spent the rest of her life in Sparta as a slave to the most famous of Spartan warrior children. She sighed loudly as her culture was crushed by a few indecisive battles, hanging on tightly to Grecian Sparta long into it's Roman era. After her beloved city-state collapsed, she managed to find herself deep in the Byzantine Empire, her gaze dulling over after her great hope that was Alexander died and his lands became divided. In a fit of memory-driven irritation she fought her way right into the great city of Rome, in an attempt to crush and control it, days before it was enslaved by violent, Germanic tribes. Once again she utilized her powers, bringing a pack of wolves under her control to escape her new destiny among barbarians. She snuck deep into the forests of lower Britain, watching the years pass by as she grew closer and closer to her new canidae family. She domesticated the entire line of animals, her 'family' becoming slaves beyond any sort of rehabilitation. Eventually, she grew bored.

The Pirating Years to Semi-Present

Naturally, she stowed away in a passing wagon, stealing a spot in the populace of the nearest large city. To her eternal amusement, she found herself recruited among a group of thieves and pirates on their sail to the Americas around the 1600's. Milking her new profession for all it was worth, she became famous in the Caribbean for her unusual tactics. Unused to attention of such magnitude, she settled deep into a cove, disappearing for three hundred years. She resurfaced in the isles about the same time as the wave of colonies started inhabiting the area, remaining unnoticed while she did her part in destroying what was left of the Children of Enos. She watched this great civilization grow, spending one hundred plus years scratching through the long forgotten ruins of Oranbega, learning long forgotten magics and powers for the second and, hopefully, last time.

The Rikti War

Aside from the occasional sighting on the shores of some beach or digging some small artifact out of some haunted old graveyard, she was a ghost to the modern human being. She made little to no contact and, when she did, she usually slid around with the alias 'Selene' in an assortment of black markets or small shops. This all changed at the start of the Rikti War. Much like her Oranbegan brethren, she found herself beating the Rikti away from her home, very few friends and the living descendants that she had. She lost two daughters in the war- neither made with a father, so neither requiring outside contact- and a small chunk of her working Oranbegan tunnels. Awilix ended up helping one person, then two, then was scrapping together buildings and aid shelters with the help of various heroes; her pursuits did not stop there, though. She ended up collecting a slew of artifacts now without owners, stealing others and 'finding' more with the help of the villainous locals. All combined, she ended up with a good amalgamation of contacts in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles for the years coming.

Abilities, Artifacts and Arms

Sweet knowledge. A homage form to her Coralax brothers and sisters.
This is a summery of some of Awilix's many, if only mildly powerful, abilities. She can rarely use them simultainiously and has a habit of running out of energy without a nearby source if she does so.

SoulTransfer icon.jpgOranbegan Magics

She possesses talent with elemental and exotic powers, able to create signature magical fires or hell-fire laden whips with minor effort. She still has the ability to possess and control other beings, but, she rarely uses it on an account of the weaknesses it creates. Her most constantly powerful abilities are her control of time, space and multiverse-spanning portals and her ability to summon, bind and constrain nearly all nature of creatures. These are not nearly the extent of her magician based abilities, though; through new artifacts, spellbooks, rituals, rites and everything else, she is nearly limitless in her ability to conjure, create and destroy. Much like the batman, it's not a particularly good idea to give her time to plan after becoming her enemy.

Control.pngCoralax MagicsPsiMaicon.jpg

Technically a combination of some of her old Oranbegan magics and the Coralax's artifacts, she has the ability to manipulate their magic colored coral in multiple forms. It takes up a considerable amount of energy so she does it in often crude and small ways, but it has become a valuable battle tool. She also holds the more common abilities, mild psionic powers increased in strength and versatility through long years of use and the powers needed to manipulate water to a very mild extant. This telepathic power is used most often and most frivolously of these sea-given abilities, resulting in her Coralax heritage being rather well known. In remembrance, most of her forms are 'water-capable.'

Hibernate.jpg Shapeshifting

Awilix originally gained the very limited ability to shapeshift from the Coralax, but, this was greatly improved upon by one of her many modern hunts. An old Egyptian Nictus known loosely as Shadow Sul-Fer (Shadow Sulfer, for short) found itself victim to Awilix's parasitic and demon-binding abilities. This has also increased her ability to create like-minded constructs of herself, allowing her to skulk around the isles with more then one physical body at at time, not unlike a certain steampunk. Unlike a normal Kheldian, Awilix is still a nictus by definition; the difference being that one conscious is subdued by the other. Poor Sul-Fer.

Originicon magic.pngHer ArtifactsOriginicon magic.png

(When I think of them I'll add them. Here are a few personal notes for later, for me to add in: Oranbegan Crystals, Soul Trap, Summoning Circles, Blood Coral-)

Magical Weaponary

She has a plethora of small magical weapons, most made by her own hand in an effort to tailor a stronger common weapon. In example, her strength-boosted Blackwand. Made using a personal copy of the Abyssal Tome as a instruction manual, she gathered the necessary components of the wand in their strongest or purest forms possible. She 'grew' the large batch of coral that was necessary, then used the same human sacrifices that were necessary to make the coral as a source of Mu blood. Next came powerful relics created anew with the lost knowledge that Awilix possessed, then the epic defeat and temporary draining of a poor few 'heroes' that happened to be breaking Awilix's moral code at just the right time.

Magical Foci

Awilix quickly copying the Hammer of the World down onto one of her own books while her demons hold off those that would want it.

Although technically more of a subset of her minor artifacts- such as the noted Blackwand- they require a note of their own. She has perfected magical focuses to the point where she's melded them into her own body through her shape shifting talents, allowing her to conjure her infamous portals at will and on whims, to feed energy directly into other people or artifacts, to overlay magical fires over an unprotected individual, et cetera. Although useless by themselves, her constant energy sapping and artifact-acquisition allows her to use this knowledge to great effect. The foci, themselves, can take many forms. Subtle runes colored on her the bottom of a wand. An Oranbegan crystal overflowing with energy. Et cetera.

Hammer Of The World

Awilix, through a convoluted scheme currently untold, aquaired the Hammer of the World for three full days and nights. The Hammer of the World is an ancient Akkadian text that has been theorized as being connected to the Well of Furies and the phenomena known as time travel. Because she gave up the original tome in the aftermath of those three days she does not have access to the vast, indescribable energies attached to the book; BUT, she now has access to its plethora of dark and powerful spells to use as she pleases once she can gather the energy or materials needed.

Demonsummoning summondemonlings.pngHer summoned Demons and constant allies Demonsummoning summondemonlings.png

Summarized excerpts that relate to how she met and began working with her six favorite demons in words that she, personally, would use.

Hel

Hel playing with mortals in her own unique way, as she often likes to do.

Years beyond years ago, Awilix got into the practice of demon binding with a little bit of a flare. New-found Coralaxian abilities and a year or two of study allowed her to put together an incredibly complicated and warded summoning circle, which she was planning to use to summon multiple demons simultaneously. Her first test; a Hell Frost and a Succubus. This did not go as planned. By the end of the haphazard ritual, there was one very angry, powder-blue, freezing succubus standing in the middle of a useless summoning circle. The area was blockaded off as Awilix fought and battled the creature for the next few days without pause. When she finally reemerged, she was in a tattered outfit, fit with scars and a bloody nose, and arm in arm with a very content, cattishly-smiling Succubus in similar condition. To this day, the sister-like pair are the only two that have any idea what really happened in there.

Geri standing next to his latest victim(s).

Geri and Freki

After years of running up hell (figuratively) with her demoniac 'pet' Hel and now in her days living with Canidae, she thought back on the combination that made Hel and came up with a devious plot. An old demon pair of powers fire and brimstone that she had summoned from time to time suddenly found themselves in the morphed bodies of wolf and demon. Given the ability to shapeshift and having their personalities intrinsically linked with one of the more goofy and loyal canines and one of the calmer and more protective canines, Geri and Freki were born. To this day, these demoniac animals are often seen scouting Awilix's Nerva forests and picking on the recently excavated Circle Of Thorns. Awilix's endlessly close relationship with these canines has raised more then a few brows.

Fenrir and Henri

The mighty Fenrir and Henri were, at one time, godlike creatures. Due to a series of unfortunate events, they ended up trapped alive in magical artifacts fire and ice to contain each of their opposite powers; both of which Awilix found on one of her many journeys. She released them on two conditions. Condition one: They will be her slaves and pets, if only for fighting purposes, until Awilix decides that she is done with them. Condition two: They will only be allowed access to their full power during feelings of infatuation towards her. Predictably, the second one correlates to how viciously they tend to be fighting their enemies, for any demon is happy when they're really allowed to let loose; even then, their power comes in short, explosive bursts.

Leonidas meeting an old friend.

Leonidas

A sordid, private affair took place some two thousand years ago during one of Awilix's periods as parading around with a male body. Suffice it to say, her masculine lover and fellow soldier found incredible luck on the battlefield that ended only when a crafty enemy found its way around the solid line he, Awilix and their fellow soldiers had formed in the canyon. In remembrance, what could be retrieved of his body and mind was reconstructed into a physically perfect but mentally imperfect duplicate of him. Granted the powers of a now decimated demon, he is prone to suddenly regaining some memory for short times in battle, causing his expertise with his hell fire clothed sword and other explosive, demonic abilities to expand in strength and precision until he slowly faded back into his weakened state. (No, not -that- one. It is, infact, one large series of coincidences.)

Modern Playmates

As noted above, these are some of the people that she hangs out with in modern times. More'll be added as time passes. [This is being re purposed to hold NPC type enemies and super-consistent allies, like Immolatasia there.]

Friends
  • [To Be Added]:
  • The Lady Immolatasia: A passionately close friend of Awilix. Both powerful, dominating woman with strong moral codes, they often get into little spats about moral problems that end with some amount of cuddling. They've both changed each other in the lengthening frendship, if arguably for the better.
Neutrals
  • [To Be added]:
Enemies
  • Crey: For the last few years, Crey has been building up on the edge of "her" Nerva islands and experimenting on the poor wildlife and people living there while making use of Longbow's protection. She greatly dislikes this and has made it known to the Countess and Freedom Phalanx herself. The complete lack of change has caused her to 'troll' both Agincourt and the Crey compound and set the creatures free more then once.
  • Longbow: Because of what they pretend to stand for, their obvious 'unethical agendas' have irked Awilix since the inception of the organization. Watching them experiment on citizens of the isles and Paragon in Agincourt, with Crey, was the last straw for her. They tend to be a 'smack down on sight' group to her and her demons. That poor Phipps is lucky she hasn't heard of him.

Triva

- She is actually known as Selene to ninety eight percent of players that she talks to. The only reason she's called Awilix throughout this page is because it's a cool sounding name.

- The "Hammer of the World" is the English translation for the Malleus Mundi.[1]
