Pyxie Styx was the product of waaaay too much sugar and caffeine on my part. When I heard the new wings would be available in I9, I immediately wanted a fairy character, but one who wasn't the normal "sweetness and light" image of a fairy. After I created Pyxie, his backstory just wrote itself.

Personality
Styx is out to enjoy himself. The party is the thing, and everything else comes in second. He loves modern conveniences such as cable TV, microwave ovens, and Hot Pockets. He is an outgoing person, but his humor tends to be a bit sarcastic. Since he's from a magical background and has lived for a REALLY long time, he finds most human ideas of what is "real" and "proven" to be immensely funny. He loves to deflate an overblown ego, and has made a couple enemies by his jokes and comments. He's gotten into the hero biz mainly for something interesting to do between parties, and because he really does want to see the world stay a basically safe place.
Powers
Pyxie Styx's powers stem from his fae nature.
Magical Ability
Styx has a great many magical abilities to draw on. He can cloud peoples' minds, making them see and experience things that are not real. He can magically move objects, either with fine control or by violently throwing them around, doing significant damage in the process. He can induce people or animals to fall into deep sleep, and also apply crushing mental force to render an opponent incapable of any action. One of his favorite abilities is his power to release a person's innermost fears. This experience usually results in an opponent being so overcome with fright that they are incapable of movement, much less combat. He can also change his appearance to look like pretty much anything or anyone he chooses.
Kinetic Manipulation
This ability allows him to manipulate kinetic energy both in it's potential and active forms. He can "borrow" energy from a subject, increasing his own speed or the force of his blows. He can also enable those around him to share in this benefit. This transfer involves inertial force, making the subject move and strike as though slowed, while the recipient(s) move proportionately faster and hit harder.
Character History
The hero known as Pyxie Styx is actually a fae creature from the magical dimension of the Fairy Court. After centuries of existence in a pastoral world of peace and harmony, he got a bit bored. Activating a portal to Earth, he found a world much changed since his last visit, and was immediately captivated by the sights and sounds of modern living. After a bit of travel and exploration, he settled in Paragon City, believing the high concentration of unusual beings there would help him fit right in. After setting up a home for himself, he set out to discover everything the city offered for a party-hungry magical being. He found a thriving community of magical creatures already in residence, and quickly made a name for himself among them, battling such groups as the Circle of Thorns and Banished Pantheon, both of whom had tried to enslave his new friends at different times. For his rescue of a group of gnome prospectors underneath Talos Island, he was made an honorary burrow guard, and is a frequent visitor to the gnomish raves underneath City Hall. He has made the acquaintance of several other adventurous fairies, most of whom find him friendly, if a bit odd.
Styx also serves as a magical informant and aide to the mage Dreamkatcher, whom he met during a sojourn into Oranbega. Dreamkatcher pays him well for news of the magical goings-on in Paragon, and also for any items of interest he may come across in his adventures.
Styx was recently pulled into the ongoing battle in Salamanca between his distant relations, the Red Caps, and their enemies, the Fir Bolg. Siding with the Red Cap's battle-slaves, the Tuatha, Styx managed to put a temporary end to the conflict and save many humans from becoming victims of the war. The Red Caps, who he see as terminally uptight and old-fashioned, were banished from the material world, though probably not for good. The Fir Bolg were likewise banished. Styx has likely made himself a few enemies in this affair.
Styx's life currently consists of attending as many raves, parties, and celebrations as he can get to, working at his part-time job as a bartender, and adventuring. So far he's having a blast, and things only look brighter. He's currently living in Galaxy City with his best bud, a spaced out gnome named Carl.
The following is a typical quote from Styx:
"So, you don't believe in fairies? Huh. You probably didn't even clap when your mom read you Peter Pan. Sometimes I don't know why I even live out here with you big 'uns. What, you think we all live in mushrooms? Let me ask you, do I look blue to you? Do you have any idea how hard it is to get decent cable service in a mushroom? If I don't get to see my shows, I get mean. You do NOT want to deal with a fairy who's missed American Idol. Still don't believe me? Bet you think we all wear leaves and eat honey all day. Yeah, you big guys think you know it all, you and your "science". Please. I've seen things that would turn you green. Literally. The dark side of the moon? Fun place. Bit punk for my taste, but then you can't be too picky these days. Living out in the woods might be fine for some, but for my buck you just can't beat a city like this. Place is hopping every hour, every day. Good brews, too. Oh hey, I gotta run. The gnomes under city hall are having a rave tonight!"
