Growing Up

Rick Shepard grew up in the small Washington town of Forks, way in the northwest. He and his sister, Jen Shepard, attended school whenever possible, got good grades, and were, in general, your average students, and kids. However, both had to work hard in order to hide and keep their mutant powers from showing. To the point neither knew the other had powers. Besides this, Both grew up, sheltered, and rather distant from the world, even during the Rikti Attacks.

Before The Heroics

As he grew older, Rick eventually got in to a culinary arts college, and worked hard at his lifelong dream; To become a chef. He wasn’t before long the young cooking genius graduated at the age of 23, and set out in the world. His destination, Paragon City. His goal, to create the best damn restaurant in that city, so heroes have something to look forward too after their hard work. It wasn’t too hard to find the perfect building, and with a little help from his friends back from his college, Rick was able to get his restaurant, “Saving Grace”, up on to it’s feet. However, tragedy struck one fine, April morning, as Rick was on his way to work. He has, a few nights ago from that day, fired a busboy who had been told over and over again to be kind to the restaurant patrons, and to not smoke while inside the kitchen. He never listened, and so, sadly, Rick had to fire him. The youth’s older brother, a Damned in the Hellions, got wind of this event, and chose to pay Rick’s Restaurant a little visit.

Upon seeing the smoking ruins of his restaurant, and the wading in to the fire and ruin, his mutation saving his body from the flames, Rick when in to a flying rage at the sight of his friend’s broken and burned bodies. The ‘locks’ he had set upon his flame powers from a very young age broke loose, and in a pent up show of force, Rick wandered down to the Hellions hideaway, tears rolling down his cheeks for mere seconds, only to be steam moments later due to the heat surrounding Rick. The Hellions burned that night, and Rick still believes he killed every last one of them in that fit of anger. Afterwards, Rick lost a great deal of power from that day, he himself believing that he wasn’t able to handle the raw strain of anger and flame to fully control it.

Months later, Rick found himself at the feet, of, ironically, a burning building set on fire by the Hellions. Taking this as a sign, for the heroes outside, would not save the people trapped, Rick rushed in to the building, battering aside heroes and Hellions alike in his quest. Not to long after, Rick burst from one of the windows of the building, a mother in his arms, a little girl riding on his back. He landed, set them down, and looked upon himself in awe. He still had something to prove to the world.

Rick Shepard, was now a Hero.

Personality

Over the few months, Rick has matured heavily from the loss of his friends. He is now a friendly, cheerful man, always willing to lend his ear or shoulder to those in need. He usually tries to comfort or help his friends when he can, but usually beats himself up if he can’t, and quiet heavily. He values his friends and allies, The Galacto-Rangers, as a second family, and is honored to be among their ranks.

Currently

Currently, Rick now lives in a two bedroom apartment in Galaxy City, with his younger sister Jen, who has also come to Paragon to train her mutant powers. Rick’s family are more than proud to hear about his new Heroic Adventures, and his mother call’s weekly to hear more about his, or his friend’s, exploits.

He has made a great many friends over the course of his work:

-Chogori, You just can’t find another guy who is willing to stand beside you in the fight against good. A good drinking buddy, a good hero, Chogori was a good reason for Rick joining the Galacto-Ranger. Rick still beats himself up over the times he couldn’t help him.

-Irish Rose, or Aileen McCarthy, is Rick’s first romantic interest in Paragon. A strikingly beautiful woman (In his eyes), with a great personality, Rick is still in shock at times she would even agree to go out with him. As a Hero, she is a stead fast ally, always willing to help Rick and other Rangers, and is a wonderful friend.

-Mirage Girl, One of Rick’s more interesting friends. He’ll admit to not knowing much at all about Mary, just a few of her interests, her powers, and the fact that if he ruins Irish Rose’s life, she might quiet literally kill him (Along with Rose’s Pa), but he still call’s her a great friend. The woman of light, always doing her part of Paragon, with super strength and illusions, she’ll always be a great friend to Rick, even I she isn’t in the mood to be all that nice.

Enemies

Besides the gangs around paragon, and other villians groups, a villian or two from the Isles have Rick in their sights.

-Tia Ta'kia, this young female Master Mind has it our for our flame flinging hero. Gods only know why, because the pair always seem fated to end up battling over Paragon's many banks, with victories given to both at times.

-Prometheus Girl, is the new name of Rick's friend, Mirage Girl. Due to a series of events, both her and Irish Rose have fled to the Rogue Isles, leaving Rick's life shattered. Rick currently waits for any sign of Mary to show up on the news, itching for a moment to speak with her.

-Black Rose was Irish Rose. Upon losing her powers at the hands of Longbow, Mary took her in an Arachnos flyer to the Isles, with Rick close in pursuit until he was hit by a Mu spell. Rick now waits for any news of Rose, hoping for a chance to bring her back to Paragon. Black Rose has recently return to Paragon as Irish, but Rick will always see Black Rose as another person, not the girl he cared for.

This Just In

An update of Rick's actions:

Rick has recently returned to Paragon after a tip to New York City, where he went missing under strange circumstances. It would turn out that he was stalked by and attacked by a cult within New York, who atemped to use his fire mutations and the anger he had been feeling for the past few weeks before hand to create a portal to their Master's World. In the end, the succeeded, but Rick broke free at the last moment, only to get drawn in to the portal after defeating the portal leader. Where this portal took him only he knows, but he might be willing to share the tale to others if they're willing to listen.
