S'Rissia
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
((To summarize my understanding of the Rikti, a "certain someone" decided that starting an interdimensional war as a distraction would be a great idea. The Rikti are born mostly human (from a cloning vat/artificial womb) and transformed as they grow They were very pacifistic, with a sort of hive mind thingie going on.))

History
S'Rissia was only a child and just finishing the first portion of her training as a mentalist when perfect copies of the Freedom Phalanx attacked Rikti Earth on a test run. Hundreds were killed within a few moments, S'Rissia's parents among them. Several years later, with S'Rissia living by herself and studying earth culture in history books brought by emissaries from the Shadow Shard, the young Rikti felt orders to assault Primal Earth in retaliation for the merciless slaughter performed by the steam-powered monsters. Raised on the idea that violence only spawned more violence, and that the best offense was an impervious defense, S'Rissia was infuriated and decided to close herself off from the Rikti Mental Link.
After five years of a hermetic lifestyle, drinking from a nearby spring, and using her training as a mentalist to find food, S'Rissia saw the portals opening up to Primal Earth once more. Deciding that there was nothing left for her on Rikti Earth, she dived through a portal, dropping roughly at the feet of the Back Alley Brawler himself. If she had maintained her composure and didn't cry, she would likely have been killed. Confused by the Rikti girl's actions, he deemed her a non-threat and turned to the invading hordes while she slipped off into an alley.
She now fights on behalf of the Freedom Phalanx, originally in the hopes of gaining their respect, and to spite the Statesman, reasoning that being willingly aided by the child of the family that he so brutally murdered would drive him insane. However, through a complicated series of events, she has learned that the entire interdimensional war is all a plan by some diabolical madman, and has taken it upon herself to patch up relations between Humans and Rikti, and to destroy the False Phalanx.
With some help from Ouroboros, she has traveled to several different time periods to kill Lord Nemesis himself. Unfortunately, for an unknown reason, none of these deaths "held", and the Prussian Prince is still up to his usual schemes, unaware of the violence being visited upon his alternate selves. Esrie doesn't care about this much, as it has given her something to do on slow days.
Somehow, S'Rissia manages to juggle all of her dimension-hopping, time-warping, and general heroics with a personal life, and there are even rumors of her having at least one child, though nobody remembers seeing her pregnant.
Personality
Despite her traumatic past, S'Rissia has a rather cheerful attitude, and occasionally seems unrealistically happy. Though a bit shy, and sometimes childish, she is always looking for new experiences, and has taken to consuming rum whenever the opportunity presents itself.
She believes that the only people who should be actively looking at someone's thoughts without permission should be the Priests of Rikti Earth, as they alone can be trusted not to tamper with anything. To her, looking at her thoughts and memories is something akin to watching her undress, and she will attempt to counter it by bringing her most horrible memories to the front of her mind.
Powers
Esrie's powers come from a seemingly endless supply of chemicals stored in her utility belt, as well as some admittedly minor mental abilities. Lately, she's been experimenting with her telekinetic abilities, and is able to create short but powerful bursts of force, as well as a sort of psionic 'hand'.
Primary Set
Esrie's primary method of fighting is through altering the emotions of her foes, causing them to fall into a state of depression, or become so consumed by love for her that they actually attack their allies in a fit of jealousy. She has only caused one death, though indirectly, by causing a Hellion to fall into a depression so deep that he committed suicide. Occasionally, S'rissia will switch and use her daggers, or even use a modified Rikti battleaxe to launch more traditional assaults on her opponents.
Secondary Set
Esrie's primary method of support comes in the forms of various chemicals, some of them volatile, some of them caustic, and some of them with a slight hallucinogenic effect. Her belt contains the following mixtures:
- A formula that vaporizes upon contact with oxygen, greatly enhancing the metabolism of those who inhale it for a few moments. Most people say that it carries a lime aftertaste. She carries a more concentrated version of this that almost completely closes wounds over the course of a few seconds.
- A viscous gel that becomes a vapor once heated to human body temperature. Inhaling this vapor causes lethargy, reducing one's ability to dodge and hit opponents, as well as severely hindering the ability to recover from wounds and exertion.
- A watery liquid that is absorbed through the skin. This formula causes a rash similar to poison ivy, lowering one's pain threshold and ability to deal damage.
- A vapor that, through telekinesis, hangs around S'Rissia's body. Inhaling this brings the victim into a sort of illusionary dream world where their every wish is granted, rendering them unable to defend themselves. Too much of this can have possibly lethal results.
Should these concoctions fail, S'Rissia will rely on the defenses afforded by her heavily-modified armor to weather nearly any attack thrown at her.
S'Rissia has also learned a few relatively minor spells, and picked up a relic or two during her time spent in Paragon City.
- Charm of Joresh: This was once a minor spell, but S'Rissia somehow managed to improve it to the point that it not only causes static on cellphones, but also scrambles humanoid brainwave patterns and severely damages electronic systems.
- Frost-Trap of Handannahaf: A spell that encases the target's body in a thick layer of ice, immobilizing them and reducing their reaction speed.
- Geas of the Kind Ones: An enchantment that was placed upon S'Rissia during her adventures in Croatoa. She is able to call upon a protective spirit to increase her ability to control her mental powers easier.
- Talisman of the Cerebral Berserker: Actually a small tattoo of a three-toed sloth on her right forearm, the ink is imbued with the ability to magically enhance one's mental fortitude. In Esrie's case, it improves her ability to concentrate, nearly doubling the length that she can keep a foe under her control.
- Sands of Mu: A jar of black volcanic sand enabling the bearer to unleash a flurry of blows sheathed in negative energy.
Additional Powers
Travel
Esrie is able to fly via telekinesis, assisted with a set of jump-jets from a Rikti Headman, modified for continuous use.
Fitness
Esrie has an enhanced metabolism, allowing her to recover from injury and fatigue quicker, as well as such fun things as intoxication. Her light weight allows her to jump a bit higher than most.
Misc. Equipment
- Magebane Daggers: These mysterious daggers aren't recognizable as any relics from this dimension. Their aura suggests that they were used to combat wizards, magical beasts, and the like at some point. Imbued within the blades is the ability to negate magical effects to a varying degree depending on range.
- Rikti Armor: Complimenting S'Rissia's considerable offense is a customized suit of armor. Built off of a set salvaged from a fallen Mentalist, she has gone wild with upgrades, combining a personal force barrier from a Guardian, heavier plating from the Gunmen, along with a teleportation system, and the targeting system from a Soldier's helm. While specific capabilities are unknown, the material this armor is made from appears to have the properties of spandex at first look, but when subjected to a certain amount of pressure, it takes on properties similar to Impervium.
- Rikti Axe: An old-fashioned Rikti axe, heavily-modified to work less like an axe, and more like a stun-baton. A really heavy stun-baton. With a non-lethal energy blade SOMEHOW set to cleave through commonly-used robot shells and military-issue body armor, but still leave organic material intact(or as intact as getting hit with about 800 lbs of force would leave you).
Weaknesses
- Has limited Telepathy. She can now break through moderately powerful mental barriers, look through the memories of a willing partner, and communicate telepathically.
- Traditional human weaknesses to bullets, blades, blunt trauma, heat, cold, toxins (only with much higher tolerance).
- Doesn't like to feel like she lost a fight. Stubborn at times.
- Has severely dulled sense of taste and smell(can only sense really strong scents/tastes).
- A bit too trusting at some times.
- A little inexperienced with chemistry. Occasionally mixes the wrong things with disastrous results.
- Is somewhat easy to lure into an argument, and when in "argument mode" has trouble keeping her thoughts together.
Public Status
As of late, S'rissia seems to have dropped off the face of the earth completely. She is currently presumed KIA as a result of medipatch malfunction.
