Character

Loud, gregarious, with all the subtlety and grace of a hand grenade, Saxon Valiant is rendered after the knights of the old mould. He acts like he owns the place, and treats sex as a kind of competetive sport. Saxon will always make the dirty joke that's on his mind and doesn't bother being too complicated in what he wants or how he wants it. Brutal and direct, he views subtlety as the domain of other people to whom it is a skill and not some mysterious black box.

Apposite to that blatantly aggressive, oversexed manner, however, is a serious, focused mind that takes to work with nothing but intense concentration. On missions, he doesn't flirt, doesn't tease, and doesn't expect anything less than absolute focus on the work. In combat he sees himself as a teacher and a soldier - making it possible for others to work their best, he takes hits and leads charges, confident that his command have his best interests at heart, and that if he dies, it's for a good reason.

Powers

Might

Saxon is built like a horse, a physically massive human being empowered by some unknown source. He's also terrifically strong - it's difficult to measure the kind of physical strength he has, due to the way it can vary. In moments of extreme emotional duress, he's been observed dead-lifting a loaded road-train and throwing it like a hammer-toss. For the majority of the time, Saxon's strength is great enough that he can easily carry several times his own weight, and punches hard enough to throw multi-ton robots and stone elementals around.

In addition, Saxon's tolerance for pain and his ability to absorb damage are both prodigious. While he uses a shield to deflect significant sources of damage and protect himself in melee, such a device is mostly used to ward off extremely high-impact super-powered attacks. Against conventional small arms fire or mundane weaponry from mundane sources, Saxon just disregards it - even the shots that penetrate are healed over very quickly.

Matrices

Calibre, the organisation that manages Saxon's position and operations, has outfitted him with standard Calibre equipment. A compressed metalline cage-shield, bio-compressed impact armour, and a variety of technical information-gathering devices. Thanks to this information, Calibre can get ever-expanding information about what kind of damage Saxon both deals and receives. Some of the informational tools are things Saxon can employ directly - tools such as emergency medical supplies, communications devices, extractors, and electromagnetic black-out jammers.

RP Notes

Saxon's place in any RP can lean on one of the three basic ways he deals with people. When dealing with a person best described as 'nice,' he serves as a powerful, reliable place to stay while they gather their senses. A reliable big-brother figure, Saxon can be trusted to not cross limits or boundaries and to offer well-meaning, if not particularly well-informed advice. As a Calibre operative, he'll wear a bullet to the forehead and not complain - unless he thinks the complaining will lead to good comedy later. He seeks to be both reliable and dependable.

This plays into his second element, where he's afraid that at any point he's going to up and vanish due to his work leading him to be killed. He's not afraid of death, but he does intend to make every moment he has to enjoy himself count. Therefore, he's a storm of bad habits, adopting a supposedly Catholic faith, 'Just to have more rules to break.' In that way he's the loud, gregarious, obnoxious one, the guy who drags the younger members of the squad out to get drunk, laid, and in trouble.

Themes

Saxon's main theme is that of responsibility. As a Calibre operative, he's as hard as nails in the pursuit of the work he should do. His unknown heritage puts upon him another layer of responsibility, and even his rebellion is done responsibly - he claims to be Catholic, primarily because it gives him a set of meaningless rules he can break without fear. His operant idea of treating people as they want to be treated is another representeur - for all that he's loud, bawdy and obnoxious, he keeps that element of himself under control when it's not appropriate.
