Affiliations
Until recently, Seeing Darkness was associated with Global Co. She found this to be a rather beneficial organisation, as most of the members supported her and her ways. However, after a while, she found that she had no use for this supergroup, and so she set out to make a name for herself.
She is known to join forces with Darkheart Imp and his girlfriend RoboGirl a fair bit to help her out, or help them out.
Personality
As noted above, Seeing Darkness is very angry and violent, due to her close connection with the dark forces of the netherworld. As a result of this, she has descended into dark themes such as goth and punk. She dresses accordingly (she likes her trechcoat at the moment) and listens to such music.
Powers
Dark Blast and Dark Miasma
Seeing Darkness is able to channel and call upon dark energies, and even creatures, from the netherworld which only she (and presumably others with her gift) can see. These energies can take the form of deadly blasts, tentacles of creatures, fear-inducing blasts, and the ability to steal energy from others through the netherworld, among others.
Fly
Seeing Darkness has trained herself to be able to envelope and wrap herself in the dark energies of the netherworld... to lift her off the ground and carry her to where she wants to go.
Fitness
Through her connection with the netherwolrd, she has found herself warped and twisted beyond the capabilities of a normal person, with the ability to jump higher, take more hits, and fight for longer than any standard mortal.
History
Lauren Haynes was born to a middle class family in Sydney, Australia. She is the first daughter of Tim and Rachel Haynes. Her younger sister is Sara (Seeing Light). When she was 10, her family moved to Paragon City, after Tim was offered a high paying job in the civilian section of Freedom Corps.
After 2 years of peaceful living, Lauren began to have visions of the death and pain of her parents. She kept the visions to herself, and a year after they started, they came true. Her parents were murdered by a gang of Skulls.
Sad as she was, she presumed the visions were over. Unfortunately, they continued, this time with different people around her, all of which came to pass sooner or later. The visions were so gruesome and realistic that in an act of desperation she took a knife and gouged her own eyes out. However this did not stop the visions... it made them worse! Not only that, but she found that she could also still see, though her sight was now far more limited due to being clouded by the visions and the swilring mass of the Netherworld that she could now see.
She sought out someone to help her, and found Madam Psyche, an old woman with strong psychic powers. Madam Psyche taught her to harness her power and use it to call energies from the netherworld which only she could see. Unfortunately, these powers corrupted her and made her angry and violent, as well as malicious and vengeful. She swore to set out to get revenge on the ones who killed her parents.
She found the gang of Skulls who killed her parents, but afterwards, in her fury, killed 15 innocent bystanders. She was subdued by a group of police, and taken to the Zig Prison.
After being broken out, she was taken to Mercy Island to meet Kalinda. This gave her a start on her career as a villain. After a long period at the bottom, she eventually became powerful enough to make her name known.
She now fights throughout the rogue isles, using her powers to get revenge on those who have wronged her or simply to get her own way.
Trivia
- Seeing Darkness plays drums in some of her spare time. She says it gives her an easy outlet for her anger. Needless to say, she goes through a lot of drum sticks.
