Background
Jack is the latest in a long line of Petrides men to carry the mantle of the Sun God, serving as the avatar of the Olympian sun deity Helios. His grandfather was the previous avatar, as the power skipping over one or more generations is not uncommon. Empowered with the sun deity's divine might and entrusted to represent the god's interests on Earth, Jack finds all the responsibility a bit daunting. He considers it a fair price to pay for the power to protect the ones he loves, however, using the Sun God powers to fight as a superhero in Paragon City.
Powers
Both while transformed and in his human form, Jack can create and control fire and light to an incredibly precise degree, though the transformation greatly increases the magnitude of these powers. In either form, he is able to control his powers with sufficient precision to knock down a mob of enemies with a burst of flame that catches their clothes on fire while leaving the individuals themselves unharmed, or to cut through a steel girder with a laser-tight beam of heat. Additionally, Jack can fly, is immune to the harmful effects of sunlight (immunity to sunburns - best superpower), and while transformed possesses superhuman physical capabilities and is immune to injury from heat or flame. In either form, he can sense powerful sources of magic and divine power, and can immediately identify divine beings (demons, angels, avatars, valkyries, etc.) on sight, though magical disguises can block this perception.
