Personality
Cody Swift tends to be an enigma to some of his peers, his disposition often changing without notice. At times he's often moody and somber, distant and stand-offish...at times he can be a playful practical joker...at times a rogue loner...at times a full team player... He can be anyone's best friend then in a blink their biggest aggravation. His cohorts in E-Branch pass it off as the anguished angsts of a normal teenager, amplified from having no memories or past to speak of. He hides from them the fact it goes deeper than that, feeling a darkness deep inside that consists of void, turmoil, confusion, and indecision. Only one other in the Branch has even a slight understanding of him.

Character History
No one knows much about Cody Swift, not even himself. He just was, having awakened in some kind of lab with no knowledge or memories of who or what he is. The only thing in the room that gave an even vague inclination was a simple file folder titled "Codename: Swift". He didn't understand the technical jargon or terms mentioned in the file but he was able to understand it described a genetically engineered subject he only guessed was himself. He found a woman's name and an address in the file and left the lab to find himself, starting with that.
All he found at the address was a murdered woman in an apartment. There was nothing left to determine who she was or why she was killed. He wasn't even sure she was the same name he found in the file. He took to the streets of Paragon City, searching. Battling different variations of villians mostly, some considered him heroic. The Paragon City Police Department on the other hand considered him a vigilante. When asked his name he had nothing to offer so he took Cody Swift, a variation of the title on the folder in the lab. At their insistence he registered as a hero with Hero Corps, taking the moniker Swyyft Justyce...a variation of the name he adopted and his search for the truth behind himself and the murdered woman.
A chance encounter with another super hero--Patriot Fist--changed things slightly for him. After combining forces to capture a ruthless known villian, they discovered they had similar pasts. Patriot Fist had also been genetically engineered by an organization he referred to as Project Patriot. He felt the methods between the two of them were similar, that perhaps Swift had also been a product of the same organization. At his suggesting, Swift joined E-Branch, and they both agreed for him to become Carl Gates' ward.
Trivia
Although they appear to be at odds at times, Swyyft Justyce considers Patriot Fist his most trusted friend and advisor, yet he can't shake the feeling or understand why Carl Gates should be dead...
