PVP
Removed the incorrect comment that PVP "has nothing to do with roleplay and relative power levels in-character." This is clearly just the opinion of the article author.

Is this really needed?
Not everyone is willing to follow with this since many people prefer to PVP or go with the text fighting system. I understand the need for something fair for people to go by but this is just a bit too much. I think it needs a huge disclaimer saying its not a rule in the RP community and less biased since it takes shots at both PVP and people who like text RP(Something Xanatos corrected). I personally think it shouldn't be here since its absolutely pointless and should be deleted. But thats a personal opinion. It needs heavy revisions to be less biased and offer an alternative while clearly stating its an OPTION. Not a rule. Luficia 14:01, 9 November 2012 (EST)
@Lucifia
The intent is to form an alternative to text fighting and PvP, and isn't intended to antagonize players who participate in either. However, these two options are unsuitable for certain players and certain situations (such as when inconsiderate players attempt text-fighting, or when one player has a PvP build and the other does not). The hope is to develop a "third option" that players can use to have a balanced competition. Text-fighting is not a competition, it's collaborative storytelling between two players. PvP isn't a fair competition for some characters, and should not be the only option to resolve a in-character fight. --Selenir 15:12, 27 March 2012 (CDT)
Anonymous Comment
Not to knock this idea or anything but you realize people can cheat with this system right?
@Anonymous Comment
Could you elaborate as to how? The intention is to make the system completely fair, so if there's the capacity to cheat, it should be posted and corrected. --Selenir 15:20, 27 March 2012 (CDT)
Removed "Optional Rules" Section
Removed the section listing the optional "supertypes," as it made the system too confusing and contradicted the goal of an easy-to-understand combat system and made it less accessible. --Selenir 15:25, 27 March 2012 (CDT)
Requirements/Planning
The Dice Combat system must have the following characteristics:
- Dice Combat must be an interactive combat system that is both fun, and fair.
- Dice Combat must be 100% impartial. Two players will be able to fight without the need for a third party or "game master."
- Dice Combat must be 100% unambiguous. There is to be no situation which can occur where the outcome of a battle is uncertain.
- Each character involved either wins, loses, or there is a tie.
- The system must require more interaction and dice rolling than a single roll to determine a whole battle.
- The system must be simple enough that players can easily remember all of the rules without having to check a document constantly.
- The system will be turn-based.
- On each player's turn, they will have more than one choice available to them.
- Not all actions will require the roll of dice.
- The turn order will be determined at the start of combat by a roll of the dice.
- The system will allow an arbitrary number of players.
- Any number of players will be able to compete in a single conflict.
- NPCs are not covered by these rules, unless a player takes direct control of them for the scene.
- Each player may only control a single character in a conflict.
- A player's decisions during the conflict will have an effect on the outcome.
- The system will be utterly unenjoyable if a player's choices don't affect the outcome of the conflict.
- Skilled players making tactical decisions within the system will be more likely to win a battle than a player who blindly selects random actions.
