Template:AlwaysAPrice/Levels

From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe

Since I always forget to update the levels of my characters on their actual pages, I'm creating this so I can transclude it whenever I next update my character pages and from then on just update my levels here on this one page and have them auto-updated to both my userpage and the character articles. How to do the same:

Create Template:YourUserName/Levels consisting of the following, including as many lines for characters as you need; replace "Character #" in each line with the name of one of your characters, and the following "level" with that character's level. View this page's source between the

<includeonly> tags for an example.

{{#SWITCH: {{{1}}}
| Character 1 = level
| Character 2 = level
| Character 3 = level
| ?? }}

To plunk in the level you've recorded there on any other page, insert the following on the page where you want the level to appear, replacing YourUserName with (of course) your username, and Character 1 with the name of whichever character you've added to your template whose level you want to display.

{{YourUserName/Levels|Character 1}}

Now you should be able to update all your character levels at once, wikiwide, with a single edit. If you mis-spelled the character name or haven't added the character to your template yet, it will default to displaying "??".

If you have any questions or want help setting up one of these for yourself, drop me a note on my user talk page. -- Price 20:03, 20 October 2010 (CDT)
