Supergroup Theme

The Icons embraces superheroes created in the light of Golden Age and Silver Age heroes. However, we realize that times are changing, and the problems that we face are not limited to the battles fought in the “old” days. We also embrace the modern hero, whom we feel is most relevant to the problems of today’s world. Paragon City is a place where any person can don a domino mask and cowl, register with the city, and become a hero. But where are the role models? Who will be the ones to usher in the next generation of heroes of the world as well as remain a shining example to the world we defend? That’s where we, The Icons, step in.

Is your character a boy scout? Does he fight for truth, justice, and peace? Then The Icons may have a spot reserved just for you. Perhaps your character is a mysterious sleuth fighting an invisible war with underworld crime bosses. Stop on by, because we need examples for our inner-city youth who are most prone to falling victim of stray bullets in Kings Row. Whatever you are, we’re sure you have something to bring to the table. With that being said, The Icons strictly prohibit and do not endorse in any shape, form, or fashion characters who murder other characters or who engage in excessive forms of violent behavior. That wouldn't make for good PR, now would it?

History

Humble Beginnings

Having existed on earth for almost a hundred years now, the public figure known as The Imperial has been around to witness many events in his lifetime. However, none of plagues of humanity could prepare The Imperial for May 23rd, 2002.

The Imperial fought valiantly against the Rikti when they descended upon an unsuspecting Earth. However, something disturbed him. A growing number of anti-heroes and teams had begun to flood the streets in Paragon City’s greatest hour of need. While the common goal was to protect the city and citizens within it, many of these morally gray heroes still found time take advantage of the situation by looting salvage from the wreckage and murdering villains who would disappear off the radar during this time of utter chaos among other things.

Deciding that citizens and heroes alike needed brighter heroes to stand out in these dark times, he began enlisting heroes in his crew of crime fighters to shine as role models. Among the ranks were notables such as I-Cross, Empyreal, Bolero, Plasma Wisp, and Jaycs. Together, these heroes provided light as a beacon of hope for all to see.

A little over a year later, a reporter asked the Imperial about the consistent group of heroes he had been seen with. The Imperial offhandedly replied, "The world doesn't need more heroes. It needs icons." From that day forward, The Icons were officially born.

The New Icons

Though many of the past Icons have come and gone, the values upheld by the organization remains consistent. Now under the supervision of Queen of Sheba, The Icons prepares itself for a new era of threats. The issues we’re faced with have changed since May 23rd, 2002. Not only did the Rikti bring about destruction and horror, but they also brought highly advanced technology which has since been used for both good and bad. With the times we live in ever-evolving, so must the group.

When asked at a press conference about how The Icons will change in light of the world’s relatively recent turn of events, The Blue Fool stepped forward to reply “We are contemporary heroes, facing contemporary threats, while upholding the classic values of heroism. Our roster may adapt, but our values will not.” Since then, The Icons have adopted this as their secondary unofficial motto to describe the newest direction of the team.
