The Rogue Isle Gladiators is the player-vs-player (PvP) tournament of the Villain Group, The X-Patriots. To participate in the tournaments, the character must be a member of The X-Patriots or it's sister organization, X-Patriots. The RIG Fighting League was started by the founder of The X-Patriots, Commander Fire, and holds tournament matches the first Thursday of the month.

The other Thursdays of the month, Commander Fire and/or General Pyr lead teams in Zone PvP against Heroes from Paragon City.

One of the primary differences of this tournament from others, is it is divided by Archetype, not Level. This is being done to prevent one or two ATs from dominating the duels, as well as present challenges and hopefully a fun variation to PvP. Therefore, on each tournament month there should 5 Champions of the X-Patriots, representing each of the Archetypes.

NEXT TOURNAMENT FOR CHAMPIONS IS NOT SCHEDULED AT THIS TIME (May 2008)

Tournament Rules

1. Each AT has it's own weight class and title belt. You will only fight your own AT. (ie: MM vs MM and Brute vs Brute)

2. The matches are setup at 10 minutes, cruiserweight (levels 38-40). See below for other possible setup guidelines.

3. You can bring any number of inspirations, but you can only use ten during a match, and they must be small ones.

4. Stalkers will fight with stealth limited, otherwise I doubt anything would actually happen. If there is a draw due to constant fight avoidance, it will likely be reported in the results, and can sometimes cause loss of a point.

5. Masterminds can either rush each other or summon first, it's up to them, but they must agree to it before the match. The default is to let them summon first if nothing is agreed on. They only get one minute after each respawn at the maximum.

6. Dominators will start with an empty domination bar.

7. Same as for stalkers, draws due to fight avoidance will be elaborated upon in the results and in some cases may result in losing a point. Momentary rare retreats are safe, but constant OR long periods of fight avoidance are frowned upon.

8. Running out the clock can result in a point loss and will be explained in the results posted. Running away while ahead in order to avoid a defeat is considered running out the clock.

9. SPECIAL EVENT FIGHT CARD - The SEFC takes place on the first Thursday of every month. To get involved, look for the signup sheet (on the official forum) for the event up to a week ahead of time, signup and we'll get the matchups sorted out. Read that thread for full details on the upcoming event.

10. No temporary powers or accolades that are not passives. Newer characters may not have them yet and they can swing a fight. (ie: No Demonic Aura and no Shivans).

Press Release

Press Release - Saturday, December 22nd 2007

The X-Patriots announced today the formation of a fighting league branch of their organization called RIG, short for Rogue Isle Gladiators. Because it is a branch of their organization, and not independant, competitors must be signed onto the organization as an X-Patriot.

When asked about this decision and how it would affect competition, the CEO known as Fire responded, "We feel like this will help us with organization, rules enforcement, and overall refine the arena fighting experience."

Unlike many other competitions, RIG groups fighters together not by their threat levels, but instead by their powerset similarities known as ArchTypes. Fire explains "In the Rogue Isles, villains are grouped into the following types: Dominators, Masterminds, Brutes, Stalkers, and Corruptors. While each has a large variety, these five can encompass them all.

Each fight will take place at the Cruiserweight classification ((38-40)), and all X-Patriots of all levels are invited to join. Even Fire, the acting President of RIG said he may get in on the action. "I think I have a lot to learn, and the arena can be my school," he told reporters.

Pyr, a General ranked officer in The X-Patriots, is the Vice President, and will handle the exibition matchups that will occur every Thursday night at 9PM CST, with the exception of the first Thursday of each month.

The first Thursday of every month is going to be a ranked fight card, with at least two title matches, and as many other matches as can be fit into two hours of arena competition. ((those on the east coast will have priority in fighting during the first half)). Fire will be on hand to host those events, which are intended to be a true entertainment event.

"Before each ranked event, we plan on going in depth with the fighters, to learn more about them. We want to know why they fight, and how they expect the match to go. Obviously there may be a little trash talking, but fighters have to feel confident to do their best," Fire said. "We will run down their big wins and their big losses, and give expert analysis on the fight."

RIG is also looking for those who would wish to become commentators for the fights during the once a month ranked events ((over vent or teamspeak)), and all observers are welcome to watch every fight as it's happening. "Because we feel like every fighter who fights in the ranked events deserves recognition, there will only be one fight at a time."

All fights will last ten minutes. Each fighter gets a point for each knockout of the opponent. They can lose points by breaking the listed rules. If no knockouts occur, our judges will decide which fighter was superior, based on their level of aggression and any close knockouts, and technical skill within the arena.

The first Ranked Event for RIG will be on February 7th, 2008. There are 4 exhibition matches before then, on each Thursday leading up to it starting Jan 8th. Interested fighters do not need to apply to show up to an exhibition match, as all X-Patriots are considered part of RIG.
