Tragedy Annie
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Tragedy Annie is a rather tongue in cheek character. She is roleplayed to a degree as much as my others, but she is complete comedy and satire. If I have her out, I'm not looking for serious RP.
Personality and Notations
Annie is... special, very, very special. Her life is a gloomy, dark miserable cloud of perpetual darkness. The problem is, she has no real reason to be this way... except that she's a teenager with a knack for pretentious poetry she claims to have been inspired from Morrissey. In reality, she really is a kind individual, despite her maudlin demeanor. She works for Paragon City on the side of her school work, because she can. It gives her a sense of duty and keeps her from focusing too much on how much she hates the eternal pit of dark darkness. She has a strange quirk of loving pie. Further, she has a strange poetic inspiration of a sad clown that steals her pie. Noone knows whether this clown is symbolic of something or if she is just simply batshit insane and seeing things, or perhaps both. Nevertheless, her gloom has an interesting effect on the villains she fights. Even before she begins spouting poetry at them, she is already intensely sucking their will to live just by her mere presence. Although she is aware of the realities of why this happens, she blames it on her opponents simply not liking 'good poetry'
Origins
Fancying herself a rather able 'witch' Annie immersed herself into cliquish faux-Wicca books and trendy television shows, all of the wrong sources. Nevertheless, she decided to dabble in the strange little spells she found in one book. The obvious result, the spell failed, miserably. What started off as a simple glamour to enhance beauty turned into a miasmic cloud that projects her emotions to those around her. For the most part, it is now a part of her and she has learned to control it but she allows it to unleash when she fights. Her swordsmanship comes from SCA and kendo classes. She is quite gifted with the katana as well as the broadsword but prefers the Gothic, medieval feel of the broadsword, in the end. She feels that although the spell was a backfire, that perhaps it was somehow karmic in that it gives her abilities to actually do some good in the gloomy world that surrounds her. Needless to say, the mistake she made put her on the right path to more responsible crafts and friends who can tolerate her sorrowful moments and can help her understand what Wicca is truly about.
Associations
For the most part, Annie is a bit of a loner outside her small group of friends who are trying to help her not make the same mistakes with witchfraft again as well as Taliesen and his sister, Minsha. Taliesen looks after her as she works on gaining her abilities with the Paragon Hero registry. In fact, she has a pair of small bat wings that he gifted her, thinking that she'd enjoy them. She has another friend whom she has not seen in a long time, a young, cheerful, nerdy Drow by the name of Dolores.
