This article about a character is a stub -- a small, but growing, work in progress. If you're the creator of this character, why not consider expanding it?

"Some Get second chances. Some don't. Rarely do you find both in the same person... at the same time."

Played by Vinnie Frizzle, the conniving treacherous bastard. The Twilight Judge Is a 35 Warshade, of the Science origin.

An idea I had brewing in my mind after experiencing the beginnings of the Portal Corp arcs in Peregrine. I thought, "What would be a cool idea for a Warshade?" In the end I came up with a whole world, ruled by Kheldians that had been influencing the development of Human Civilization for millenia, at first as Illuminati-ish puppetmasters, and later taking over, creating a peaceful, powerful socialist dictatorship akin to INGSOC of 1984-fame. The character itself is a rebel from his world, originally recruited to be joined with a Nictus as a part of this world's Military police. Ray is a justice seeker. He seeks to right all wrongs, defeat injustice itself. He also seeks to understand Freedom, and spread it. However, he is also a rather questionable individual. After all, in his home universe, he was trained to Kill and kill effectively. A fallen hero, as early as he began. Whatever he may be, he seeks Justice... However twisted his own sense of it may be. Of course, this did not continue. Umbral Justicar left Raymond Melvin to find a better host. A host more willing to do good.

Affiliations

None. He has since separated himself from Arbiter Death, and all other Arachnos ties.

The Twilight Judges The Primary Peacekeeping force of Earth in dimension Omicron Alpha 22. Rank: Initiate Judge. This tie is also broken as of Umbral Justicar's abandonment of Raymond.

Personality

Twilight Judge I

Taciturn and introspective. Has a particular fondness for Night(The Earth of his home dimension doesn't experience night.) Having grown up in repressed, 1984-ish world, he is very reserved, though very fond of his newfound freedoms.

Twilight Gauntlet

After his joining with Vicente Giani, Umbral Justicar brought with him some of the stern disciplinarian, but was tempered by the professor's kindness and desire to do good. The combined entity also possesses Vicente's brutal wit and cunning. While the Law is Above all else... being a Lawyer by heart, Vicente has taught Umbral Justicar that bending the law for the greater good is okay.

Powers

Same as any Warshade

Equipment

As merged Kheldian Warshade, Twilight Judge has little use for equipment. However, Vicente Gianni/Twilight Judge II has repurposed the old Voidstar Powersuit to work in conjunction with his Nictus powers for moments when he needs that extra bit of umph.

History

Raymond hails from an alternate dimension. In this dimension, the Kheldian race didn't split into civil war after the birth of the Nictus. Instead, both sides reunified to become a powerful oppressive force that eventually arrived on Earth. Manipulating history slowly but surely to it's ultimate goal of total domination, the Kheldian race conquered humanity in a bloodless event in 1965, becoming benevolent dictators. In fact, every major conflict 200 years prior was a direct manipulation of this "Luminous Hand." The Peacebringer half of the Kheldians make up the ruling caste, the "Luminous Elders" while the Nictus half make up the military caste, the "Twilight Judges." To continue their oppression and image, the Kheldians altered the very Atmosphere of the planet in an unexplained fashion that essentially eliminated Night. Everywhere on the planet, the sky is a mid-day blue. Because of this, this reality was nicknamed "The Eternal Sun."

Growing up in the Shining City, which is basically Paragon City, with the primary different that all Hero statues are replaced by white crystal obelisks and white towering flames monuments, and lower class settlements lacking any windows on the buildings. Ray was considered to be compatible for nictus joining early in life, and when he reached the minimum age of eighteen, he was taken to the Hall of Judgement, where all Twilight Judges are trained. However, his mentor was a member of a secret dissident organization named "The Free Council." Oddly this, and it's predecessor, "The Fifth Column," are counterparts of our own organizations... only created in different circumstances. Rodney was initiated into the Free Council just in time for the Great Uprising. Fully Half of the Twilight Judges had tired of the atrocities and manipulations of their "Lighter" cousins. Unfortunately... the entire rebellion was crushed when it failed to gain the support of the unjoined Human masses. They wanted their Kheldian masters. The few rebels left took control of Eternal Sun's counterpart to Portal Corp. During a counterstrike by the Elders, the survivors attempted to flee to other realities. Only Ray was able to escape.

Calling himself The Twilight Judge in honor of his old order, and master, he has taken up the path of the Warshade, like the redeemed nictus of Our Earth.

He fell from grace and became a trusted ally of Arbiter Death, an Arachnos commander in Paragon City. While we may never know what terrible things he'd done in his post as "Judge", his "Heroic" guise was more along the lines of a 90s Anti-Hero. A mass murdering monster claiming to cleanse the streets of lawbreakers. Multiple attempts to reign him in were made by Shadowstar and the Warshades, but he appeared to have escaped to his home dimension. Wyvern agents reported seeing him in the Etoile Isles later that month, wandering about wearing civilian clothing, and fighting Arachnos agents. He was last seen, at that point, in the hands of Crey public relations agents, taken against his will. Longbow reports a raid on this Crey facility shortly thereafter, but take the facility easily, the laboratory filled with ruined corpses of both Council soldiers and Crey personnel. Twilight Judge had escaped again.

His most recent whereabouts are within Paragon City limits and he has been seen having at least one conversation with his former mentor Shadowstar. He expressed his desires to atone for his crimes, though she apparently said that he would be able to do so in prison.

PPD Recently raided Raymond's apartment, finding him alone and unconscious. Went brought to a hospital, it was discovered that his body had been drained of life energies enough to place him in that state, but only just enough. He is expected to recover... however no evidence of Umbral Justicar was discovered by PPD Awakened officers dispatched to the scene.

In a clandestine meeting, the separated Umbral Justicar surrendered himself to Sunstorm and Shadowstar. The two convened with their trusted confidants and agreed with Umbral Justicar that his prior host did indeed influence his actions. The boy was unusually strong willed. They granted him his desire return to the field, and with their blessing, he sought a new host. Since then, a New Twilight Judge has taken to the streets in a modified costume.

In truth, Umbral Justicar had already chosen his new host, and said host had already accepted. Vicente Giani, a law professor and former city prosecutor. Also formerly the power-suit wearing scrapper Azure Gauntlet. It is believed by the few that know his new hero identity that he will do much good as a Warshade.

Having had many adventures, the pair decided that they should abandon any association to the Twilight Judges. Thus, Twilight Gauntlet was born.

Musical Themes

realVAST - Falling from the Sky: It just feels right.

Iron Man OST - Driving with the Top Down: It just fits the theme of him pulling the Voidstar Power suit out of his storage place for the first time in a long time and taking it to a tough fight. Just like old times.

AC/DC - Back in Black: Fits on so many levels. Umbral Justicar back in action after his fiasco on his first host. Vicente "taking up the cape again" after being blinded a couple years prior, his joining with the Nictus giving him an "energy sense" to replace his sight.

Weakness and Limitations

Same as any Warshade

Publicity

Twilight Judge II's career seems to be publicly centered around redemption and rehabilitation. To show that all can come back from the brink and be good people. That all are capable of atonement.

In fact, recently the pair decided to play on Vicente's former hero identity, "Azure Gauntlet." The result is "The Twilight Gauntlet."
