Twilight Thorn is a fictional character created for the online game "City of Heroes" She was not the first character I created, but she is my primary character and, even though she has achieved the highest character level you can get, she is still the one I enjoy playing most, either as a Roleplay Situation or helping other friends level. Please be advised that I've taken my own spin on a fair amount of the City of Heroes Mythos and if things do not jive with cannon, I'm sorry, but I like it this way.

Personality

Thorn has a tendency to keep her own council on most things and only offers or opinions when she feels that such offerings are wanted or needed and prefers to keep her words as short and direct as possible. For nearly as long as she can remember, she has been lacking in emotions due to magics woven upon her by the Circle of Thorns when she was a child and is just now learning what it means to have emotions again; a situation which still causes more than a few awkward moments amongst her friends. Rose in Winter described her best as being "Reserved, but not distant."

Powers

A sorceress first and for most, Thorn's powers are derived both from her own magical reserves and from those of the Mage-Souls she hosts. Each power she possesses is a magical spell she has learned by heart to the point she no longer requires the incantation to cast them, however, she still recites such spells on occasion.

As her friends have learned, she has a vast knowledge of minor spells that can be used in a variety of methods from small illusions to keeping areas clean and neat to more powerful enchantments involved in warding, communications and drawing power from different sources. These minor spells she often refers to as "weavings."

During the attacks on the Shinsengumi when communication channels were not believed secure, Thorn provided the group with message stones which would only function for the intended recipient of the message and has also worked with Serge Ta'Null to perform massive warding spells over out of control arcane areas.

Her arcane library is well stocked at all times.

Primary Power Set

Emerald Fire (Radiation Emission)

As an Oranbegan Necromancer, Thorn should never have had access to this power, but because of her past with the Circle of Thorns and the dark magics she was forced to master at a young age, she maintains a strong connection to the Bale-Fire which is the source of much magical energy for the Circle of the Thorns and for the Oranbegans. Bale-Fire, or Emerald Fire as the Oranbegans refer to it, exists outside of time and thus has no measurable real world counterpart, but upon interacting with the real world it manifests as a weak green energy field that can be harnessed to weaken, empower, heal or injure another person. Because the Emerald Fire is one of the sources of true magic, there is almost no power known that can prevent it from acting upon a person, though its use as a weapon are often limited by the users control of it's manifestations.

Thorn has mastered all currently known uses of this power save one, which continues to elude her training.

Secondary Power Set

Shadow Rites (Dark Blast)

The traditional weapon of the Necromancer, the ability to manipulate energy of the netherworld to call forth blasts of purified dark matter, the spells of this suite provide Thorn with with a direct damage counterpart to the Emerald Fire's abilities to weaken enemies for her allies to dispatch. Like Emerald Fire, the true power source of the Shadow Rites exist outside of time, but have a real world counterpart in shadows cast by anything and everything. Those who have studied her spells careful will notice her blasts will literally rip shadows away from other things and strike an opponent with them, but the effect is subtle unless one knows what to look for. Though she is more adept at the control of Emerald Fire, she is recognized as a Shadow Rites master within Oranbega.

Other Abilities

Magictech Armor

Recently, Thorn has begun developing mental abilities in addition to her already potent control of the Emerald Fire and Shadow Rites. Though not as powerful as full psychics, she has managed to control abilities which cause others to sleep or become caught up in random thoughts within their minds, leaving them powerless. Also, through sheer force of mind she has managed to use some psychic abilities to cushion attacks made against her.

Beyond this, her most frequently used spells remain Flight and Teleportation, which are used as one might be able to infer from their names.

Upon her return to our dimension, Thorn was gifted with a suit of magitech armor by her Oranbegan mentor to aid in her tasks on Earth. Forged of a magical material known as Orichalcum and inlaid with a special material Ysalenium (found only in Oranbega), the armor enhances magical energy to a fine degree, giving a greater control over powers and expanding psychic energy as a more stable shield than what she can create on her own. The armors construction has been lost to the mists of time and it remains a mystery to all who have worn it. Even Thorn is unaware of the full extent of its abilities.

Like many magical artifacts, the Magitech Armor has it's own history, most of which are sworn secrets amongst the Mages of Oranbega, Thorn included. What little she has revealed to her most trusted friends seems to indicate the armor is well over 20,000 Earth Years old. The armor itself exists outside of time and can be called with a thought, manifesting around her body almost instantly. Unfortunately, as a side effect of it's enhancements, it also tends to leave its user somewhat exhausted after it is removed.
