Friends

Enemies

Rose also has a particularly violent hatred of The Council

Supergroup: The Phoenix Force

Former Supergroup: Guardian Angels Reborn -- defunct, absorbed into The Phoenix Force.

Please note that Rose in Winter has NO affiliation with the current SG The Guardian Angels (aka GA) lead by the character Warp Factor, just friendships with individual members.

Personality

At heart, Rose in Winter (more commonly known as Rose) is your basic goody-two-shoes hero. She doesn’t kill or maim, and believes that good will triumph over evil, simply because it is good. Those who mistake her good heart for naїveté find out quickly how mistaken they are. Rose in Winter is no delicate flower. She has a temper she is not afraid to display, and a penchant for sarcasm. While Rose sometimes teases her friends mercilessly, Rose is more often warm and kind. Her friends know better than to take her sarcasm seriously, and she prefers the company of those (like Drogan and Miss Danger, among others) who can give as good as they get! Most of the time she is cheerful and friendly, and can curb her sarcasm when need be.

Rose is intensely loyal to her friends and her Supergroup, The Phoenix Force. She will drop anything to help a friend or groupmate for any reason, whether they want help on a mission or just some company in Pocket D. In her spare time, she enjoys researching just about anything that catches her interest and reading anything she can get her hands on.

Rose’s past, however, is a mystery. While she responds easily to Rose, that is not her name. She occasionally alludes to family and friends outside of Paragon City, but who these might be or how many exist is unknown. Rose refuses to speak of her life before Paragon City, becoming sad, withdrawn, or even hostile when asked. The one person who might know more than average is Rose’s roommate Drogan Alheron, brother of Fenix Alheron and member of the Phoenix Force. Rose and Drogan are extremely close; some believe them to be romantically involved, although that, too, is uncertain.

Powers

Rose is registered as an Ice/Ice Blaster, but refers to herself as a “Blastroller” due to the various Hold powers she has mastered. Rose considers herself a scientist as well as a hero, and has admitted that she is chemically altered. Her powers come from a serum derived through her interest in Molecular Bioengineering. The chemical alteration is permenent and the formula for the chemical destroyed; she does not need regular doses to maintain her powers.

Primary Power Set

Rose calls her Primary Set “Ice Offensive.” This consists of powerful blasts of ice and snow.

Secondary Power Set

Rose calls her Secondary Set “Ice Defensive.” This consists of Holds that prevent foes from reaching her, and what she calls her “Circle of Slip,” a circular patch of ice that causes those who tread on it to fall on their back reapeatedly. She sometimes uses this around herself, sometimes around others, sometimes around something she is trying to protect.

Other Abilities

Rose often wears what she affectionately calls her “Supersuit,” an invention of Drogan’s, that enhances all the following powers:

Rose’s body temperature is always that of the surrounding atmosphere. She is never too hot or too cold, although she does prefer warmth and has been known to overdress for the weather, wearing winter gear well into spring.

Rose's five senses are unusually acute. She is often able to hear the breathing (and even heartbeat) of those around her, enabling her to ascertain whether or not there are foes in a given area. Her vision is far above 20/20 (she used to wear contacts) and she can see for miles. Her sense of smell is useful to her at times, although it can also be an inconvenience -- because of this, her studio apartment is scrupulously clean. Taste and touch are not as important to her crime-fighting career.

When Rose does not want to be noticed, no one will notice her. Because she is room-temperature, she does not show up on heat-seeking equipment. She can move silently and blend in with the shadows.

Rose has the the Superman-like ability to "leap tall buildings in a single bound." Since prior to choosing to use the serum on herself, it was primarily tested on rabbits, the leaping was unexpected. In the case of the rabbits (three of which Rose still owns), it was assumed that superstrength explained their astonishing capacity for jumping long and high distances. Rose does not have superstrength; simply a change in her tendons and ligaments allowing this leaping ability.

A recent update to the Supersuit allows Rose to call in Drogan's fire powers, and he to call on her ice powers. Rose has developed both a hold and a blast she can use to good effect when channelling Drogan's fire powers.

Character History

Rose at Rest

Not much is known about Rose’s history beyond the fact that she was a scientist who grew up on the West Coast. Her identity and past are a closely guarded secret, with Rose herself the sole guard.

Trivia

Rose is, among other things, a terrible cook. She can make breakfast food – eggs, pancakes, toast – and not much else. What she is good at is research. Between the numerous research books that fill her bookcases, an excellent memory for facts, and the ability to use various search engines, Rose can find a large amount of information on almost anything, and put it together in a cohesive way. She sees all knowledge as one great puzzle, and will happily spend hours adding pieces to that puzzle. Sometimes this time spent learning new things comes together in a dossier, sometimes she researches just for fun. When something catches Rose’s interest, within hours she will be completely conversant with the topic.

One wall of Rose’s and Drogan’s studio aparment is devoted entirely to a long, rectangular, stainless steel table. On it sit her science experiments and his various gadgets. Rose’s experiments are primarly biological on the cellular level (she keeps three pet rabbits and opposes most animal research as animals cannot give consent), but she spends time on chemical experiments as well. She does not discuss the point of these experiments. Her passion for them equals that for research, but they seem to have a purpose beyond her own enjoyment. She keeps detailed notes on these experiments in a locked two-drawer file cabinet under the table.

Rose also speaks several languages fluenty – English, French, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, and Greek – and can manage in German, Hindi, and Farsi. She is familiar with the ancient and modern Greek and Hebrew alphabets, and the modern Russian alphabet. (The last three are primarily so she can read foreign words when researching something; aside from modern Greek, she does not speak more than a smattering of these languages.)

Hobbies

Rose loves a challenge. Since she is much smarter than average, not much challenges her; high school certainly did not and she entered college at age 15. (Her chemical alteration, occuring in her senior year, caused her to leave one semester shy of graduation.) Rose enjoys puzzles and codebreaking, both of which allow her to use her intelligence and exercise her mental faculties.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Rose’s devout loyalty to her friends has gotten her into trouble more than once -- not to mention that temper!

Location

Currently unknown, as Rose in Winter vanished after losing a battle with Operative Bane, leader of Alpha Sanction, and a villain known as Shara Nxou. The Alheron brothers, Drogan and Fenix, started a search for her, and suspect she may be in the hands of The Council. The villain Vespertilia has offered to gather information for Fenix Alheron, albeit at a price. Ordinarily, Rose lives in Atlas Park, in the Robinson Building on Muncie Street, with Drogan.
