History
Untypical Childhood
Ultramaiden is a genetically engineered superhero originally created by the villain Terrance Rhisen (Terra Rhising). After his previous attempt to create a being from Titanian DNA proved unstable, Terra took some of the remaining material and combined it with human DNA; using his own DNA as a base. The resulting creation showed to genetically stable; a infant girl whom he named Karen. Using temporal technology he had uncovered from previous ventures, Terra was able to rapidly age the infant to an adult, while at the some time implanting her mind with false memories of a past history that didn't exist. This implanting also included a hidden program that, when activated, would cause her to go insane and attack the Justiciars from within. Unaware of her hidden programming, Ultramaiden believed she was in fact a young woman named Karen Summers who had survived a rare illness thanks to a highly experimental treatment which unlocked her superhuman potential; and that she had relocated to Paragon City in order to use her new powers to help people. As planned by Terra, Karen applied and was accepted into the Justiciars as a probationary member; originally using the name Ultimate-Girl.
Life as a Hero
As she adjusted to her new life, Karen settled into life in Paragon City; battling foes both with her fellow Justiciars and by herself. During one such adventure, she encountered the intergalactic con artist Davik Ventura who had come to Earth seeking potential women for his clients harem. Upon seeing Ultimate-Girl's beauty and power as she fought and defeated the battle drone sent after him, Ventura attempted to abduct her and flee to another galaxy. Weakened from her battle with the drone, Ulty's power was replenished immediately once her body absorbed a tremendous amount of solar radiation. She freed herself and then arrested Davik, who was handed over to intergalactic authorities.
Ultimate-Girl also began to develop strong friendships with her fellow Justiciars; especially Volleygirl and Energy Giant who began to think of Karen as their own sister. During this time, Terra, who had recently reformed and now used his skills and abilities as a hero, offered to help Ulty "recover" her fractured memories. But her fellow Justiciars warned her about Terra and his infamous past, and that she would be better off avoiding him. In truth, Terra had witnessed the amazing progress that Ultimate-Girl had been making and had long since decided not to carry out his previous plans for her.
Ultramaiden took part in the Muspelwar, and in the events leading up to it. She aided some of the Justiciars in gathering up the golden apples of the Asgardian Goddess Idun and fought against the thunder god Thor; although she was easily bested by the powerful deity. Ulty was also one of several Justiciars who combined their powers to defeat the demon Surtur and his demonic hordes who sought to bring about Ragnarok; the Asgardians apocalypse.
Truth Revealed
Later, Ultimate-Girl and the Justiciars traveled to Praetorian Earth in a mission to rescue Justiciar member Star-Pulse's parents; who'd been arrested on suspicion of his treachery. Ultimate-Girl and several other Justiciars created a city-wide diversion; diverting the attention of the authorities while the other justiciars were able to rescue the parents and escape to Primal Earth. However, in the process of retreating, Ulimate-Girl was overpowered by Emperor Cole, who entered the fight himself, and was defeated and captured.
Ulty was subjected to weeks of interrogation and brainwashing administered by Neuron and Mother Mayhem; who probed Karen's mind and discovered the truth about her implanted memories. Confronted by this new knowledge, Karen was easily manipulated and controlled by Mother, who then used her to attack her fellow Justicars who had returned to Praetoria to rescue her.
Ulty and Energy Giant battled across Neutropolis causing untold damage to everything in their path. Although the tow of them were very evenly matched, eventually their battled ended in a stalemate thanks to Psi-Cat, who was able to break Mother Mayhems control over Ulty's mind. Returned to Primal Earth and with her mind restored, Karen had to then deal with the revelations of what she discovered about herself; including the subconscious memories of Terra.
Ulimate-Girl confronted Terra about what she has discovered. To hers and the other Justiciars surprise, he freely admitted to having created Karen originally to destroy them, but changed his plans upon reforming and witnessing Karen's growth and development into an independent and free-willed being. In his own words, by becoming a devil, he had given the world an angel, and felt the world was better off with her as one of it's champions.
New Direction
After discovering the truth of her existence, Karen took some time to reassess her life moving forward. While she hated that Terra had initially created her as a weapon, she did acknowledge that without him, she wouldn't even exist. And that because she possessed his DNA, which he used to crate her, in a way that him her father. After months of hating him for hiding the truth from her, Karen finally asked Terra if he'd ever even loved her as a daughter. Terra admitted that upon her "birth" he did feel a strong sense of pride and love for her, especially as she grew and developed into a strong, capable young woman. While it's taken some time, Karen and Terra have begun to build a new relationship as father and daughter. At this same time, Terra had also revealed the existence of another "daughter" in the form of Infinite-Girl. Although their relationship started rocky, Karen and Taryn have found a common understanding and have been growing closer as sisters.
As for Karen's life outside of the costume, she wanted to also contributed there as well. Terra had bequeathed a substantial fortune to her when she was born, which Karen has used to start the company UltraTech; which designs and manufactures advanced technological devices for the consumer market.
Incarnate Awakened
Recently, Karen has been exposed to the Well of the Furies, and has been developing new powers and abilities as an Incarnate. Since the awakening of these new powers, she has been engaging in various attacks against Praetorian Earth, in order to halt their invasion, as well as free the citizens of Praetoria from Emperor Cole's twisted rule.
Personality
Ultramaiden is know for her appearance more than anything else. She makes no apologies for her looks, or for the reactions she elicits from other people who see her. She's known to be sassy and brash, often throwing herself into fights and not backing down from arguments about issues she's passionate about. She's also very compassionate and loving to her friends, especially her teammates in the Justiciars; whom she sees as her extended family.
Powers
Ultramaiden exhibits most of the classic Titanian powers of Sun Man on Earth: super-strength, flight, invulnerability, X-ray vision, heat vision, and super-hearing.
Titanian Physiology: Ultramaiden's cellular structure is more dense, resilient and biologically more effective than Earth human tissue. She does possess several additional organs, the function of which are not yet disclosed or understood. Ultramaiden has manifested a wide range of metahuman abilities and is considered to be one of the most powerful metahumans alive. Ultramaiden's body also actively stores energy within her bio-cellular matrix as an energy pattern that is linked to her body's electromagnetic field. This energy powers most of Ultramaiden's electromagnetic capabilities, such as flight and heat vision.
Superhuman Strength: Her physical strength appears to be on a par with that of Sun Man and Sun Girl, which is in the megaton range (100,000 tons). It has been implied, though not yet specifically shown, that like Sun Man, she can sun-dip and supercharge her powers.
Invulnerability: Ultramaiden's body is more durable and resistant to damage than a human being. The most common explanation for her invulnerability is the possession of a super-dense molecular structure powered by yellow solar radiation.
Healing: Karen heals faster than a human being.
Super Immunity: Karen's immune system protects her from most toxins and diseases.
Superhuman Stamina: Ultramaiden's body stores and processes solar energy at a rapid rate and for a variety of effects. Her storage capacity is unknown, although she has been shown to need rest on a regular basis even when charged.
Flight: Karen has the ability to fly. It is unknown at present whether her power is a result of mental or physical ability. She can move herself and extremely large and objects off the surface of the Earth. Her top speed is unknown but is known to be at least escape velocity (7 miles per second). Karen's control is highly precise; she can perform aerobatic feats such as hovering, flying backwards and even lifting great weights while flying.
Superhuman Speed: Ultramaiden's enhanced metabolic rate, muscular speed, and nervous system, grant her incredible speed. Her Titanian structure and the solar energy paths that course along her neurophysical structure allow her to react at many times normal human speed. She can move faster than the human eye can perceive if necessary. Her reflexes are quick enough to allow her to dodge most projectile weapons and catch bullets . Ultramaiden is at least fast enough to run/move at supersonic speeds while on Earth.
Ultramaiden's perceptions are similarly rapid, allowing her to see individual bullets fired from high-speed automatic weaponry in flight and outrace them easily.
Super Breath: Karen can generate a concentrated gust of wind from her mouth capable of freezing matter within a limited range.
Enhanced Senses: Karen possesses super enhanced senses that allow her to detect vibrational movements at least in the sub-atomic motion level. Some of her known super-senses include:
Vision specific powers:
Telescopic Vision: Karen can perceive objects at great distances. The range of her telescopic vision is unknown, but she can see objects from several hundred miles away. This ability operates independently of normal vision and can be activated or deactivated by an act of will.
X-Ray Vision: Through an act of will, Karen can perceive items in the electromagnetic spectrum through solid objects of varying depths and thickness. The exact range and mechanism of Karen's X-ray vision is unknown. She also can not look through massively dense objects or materials, including lead.
Microscopic Vision: The ability to see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level.
Electro-magnetic Spectrum Vision: Karen can see well into most of the EM spectrum. She can see and identify radio/television and any and all broadcast/transmitted frequencies, allowing her to avoid detection through radar or satellite monitoring methods.
Heat Vision: Karen has the ability to generate concentrated lines of force from her body along her line of sight. This act is a conscious act of energy manipulation from all observed events and not an expulsion of energy from her retinas. She focuses light along various frequencies in a continuous release that she is able to contain mentally, as she has been shown with the energy actively contained around her eyes, before releasing it or allowing it to disperse. Ultramaiden can control her heat vision and direct it wherever she can look. She cannot use the power without opening her eyes to direct the energy, nor has she been observed to be able to project this energy from any other part of her body in this manner. The heat beams are mentally controlled and that control is apparently reflexive, so she can shut it off without accidentally damaging anything.
Other super-sensory powers:
Enhanced Senses|Superhuman Hearing: Karen has the ability to hear any sound at any volume or pitch from vast distances. Presently Karen has not been able to use this power over mediums where sound waves are unable to travel, such as outer space, suggesting that her power is based on her physical ability to hear and not a form of mental telepathy that corresponds to sound.
Incarnate Powers: Due to her recent awakening as an Incarnate, Ultramaiden has been developing several new powers:
Enhanced Musculature: Karen's exposure to the Well and enhanced her strength even further than it's original power levels.
Lighting Bolt: Karen can summon a powerful bolt of lighting to strike her opponents with. She's capable of arcing this lightning through multiple targets at one time.
Abilities
Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced)|Master Combatant: Karen has trained with several notable teachers including her teammate The Cowl, who is a world renowned hand to hand combatant.
Enhanced Intellect|Genius-Level Intellect: Ultramaiden has shown enhanced memorization, intelligence and computational abilities; her mind works sharply and with extreme speed.
Strength: Class 100+. Ultramaiden is easily strong enough to lift 100 tons with minimal effort
Weaknesses
Magic: Ultramaiden is vulnerable to magic and magic systems. Karen's Titanian biology is open to certain radiations, particularly magical energies whose chaotic electromagnetic or extra-dimensional signatures disrupt her body's stability. Ultramaiden's vulnerability to magic varies on the special effects of the magic. She can be injured and worn down by magical entities. Magic can have powerful and unpredictable effects and her magical enemies have often proven to be the most dangerous.
Psionics: Karen is as vulnerable to psionic attacks as a normal human being. She is subject to mental domination attacks against her. Those whose mental powers are superior to her own have been able to render her unconscious or disrupt her natural thought processes.
Vision Limitation: Karen's x-ray vision cannot penetrate lead or lead-lined walls, or objects of dense enough structure. Certain energies also can be used to block her from visually analyzing them.
Power Loss: Although her body stores solar radiation, prolonged deprivation of solar energy can cause her powers to weaken and eventually shut down temporarily.
