ORIGIN

-The Hollowing-

Jacob Morgan's life changed in late 2000. He had been running with the Skulls, slowly working his way up the chain. He had no powers which made it hard for his lieutenants to take him serious. He always tried taking on big jobs to prove otherwise. One such heist was in Eastgate. Some mystic artifact or another. His fellow Skulls were ambushed by a Midnighter by the name of Night Hornet. Jacob had given up on stealing the artifact and was looking for an escape when Night Hornet caught up. Their fight was interrupted by the “Hollowing”.

The collapsed building did not kill them. Jacob suffered minor bruising and cuts whereas Night Hornet suffered broken legs and several cracked limbs. Trapped with hardly any room to move about, Jacob contemplated taking the easy route with the two bullets left in his gun. “Save your ammunition, Jacob Morgan. We await a greater destiny,” Night Hornet surprised the young Skull. He told Jacob that fate placed the two together for a reason, and began teaching Jacob how to use his will power to survive. For days without food or water the two waited, while Night Hornet trained Jacob. And on the final day, Night Hornet revealed that Jacob would be his predecessor and gave him an address and a key. Before Jacob could argue or refuse, two Skulls had dug through the wreckage and found them.

They told Jacob they had found a way out. While explaining their escape, they saw the injured hero. One of them put a few shots into Night Hornet’s head. Out of anger, Jacob fired his last two bullets into each Skull, killing them. Jacob made a vow to the fallen hero that he would take up the mantle, and would bring his war to the gangs on the streets. He escaped the wreckage and left his old world behind him.

-Taking Up the Mantle-

As he entered his new home, he found that Night Hornet had left him a fortune. In solitude, he revamped the old Night Hornet costume with high tech gadgetry, including a pair of energy gauntlets to aid him in melee. He respectfully let the legend of Night Hornet die, and took a new name to illustrate his oath and his cause: War-Hornet.
