NAME: Dr. Benedict McCobb
AGE: 53
ABILITIES:

  1. REANIMATION -
Dr. McCobb is able to reanimate dead tissue through the use of a carefully made chemical concoction.
  2. CHEMISTRY -
In addition to the reanimation serum, Reanimator has a collection of experimental chemical creations that can be used to affect people in a variety of ways.

Dr. Benedict McCobb's fall from grace came immediately after the greatest scientific discovery of his entire career: the resurrection of Ethan Holloway, aka Limbo, which happened on a morgue table in the Kallisti Wharf hospital thanks to a special serum that he had whipped up beforehand at the university with his team of researchers. Their goal was to find a definitive medical cure for death; when Limbo came back to life, it seemed like their hard work was finally paying off. To ensure that it did, Dr. McCobb kept Limbo confined to the university’s laboratory post-resurrection to offer him up to scientific firms who might be interested in running tests on the resurrected man for a hefty fee. The entire setup got flipped upside-down when Limbo was rescued by the Vanquishers from a Crey facility that was studying him.

Losing access to Limbo proved to be devastating to Dr. McCobb’s livelihood. With no tangible proof of the resurrection’s success (thanks to Limbo remaining relatively off the grid and difficult to communicate with), the university he worked at pulled funding from his research and shut down his life’s work. When his obsession over recreating the experiment that made Limbo interfered with his university work, they fired him, leaving him with nothing to do than to stew in anger over how close he actually got to achieving his dreams. The frustration ate at him, and despite having no facilities of his own to continue his research, he made a vow to himself to do just that. Not just for himself, but for the sake of what humankind could achieve without the fear of death.

To continue his research, Dr. McCobb starting constructing a secret lab in the abandoned sewer tunnels underneath the very same morgue that he first resurrected Limbo. From there, he can sneak into the morgue at night to steal resources and bodies for experimentation. Although he’s had to rebuild his work from the ground up, he’s managed to get close to recreating the serum of his success -- the legion of undead servants that he keeps locked away in containment freezers in his underground lair is proof of that. However, he hasn’t been able to get it quite right… and if he really wants to perfect his death-reversing serum, he’ll have to get his hands on Limbo himself.

Until he captures Limbo and can return to the public with his serum in hand, Dr. McCobb funds his scientific endeavors by offering his expertise to the highest bidders in Paragon City’s criminal underworld as the mad Reanimator. Being a highly skilled chemist, he is frequently hired to fabricate medicines, poisons, neurotoxins, and other chemical creations for nefarious individuals in exchange for money and resources. There’s no limit to the depths that he’ll stoop to for a chance at recreating his lost resurrection serum, which has put him in league with the worst of the worst… and with the way the Reanimator’s enemies keep ending up as servants in his revolting undead horde, he fits in among them perfectly.
