SUMMARY

Doctor Zar is an advanced chimpanzee from an alternate-dimension. On his Earth, apes dominate the planet with a culture that was far more scientifically advanced than our own. He arrives on our own Earth, pleading for help, as his dimension has been invaded by the Rikti and his society is in total ruin.

COMIC BOOK COVERS

The debut issue of Doctor Zar describes the fate of Earth-Delta's invasion by the Rikti and Zar's escape to our Earth, (where to his astonishment, humans rule the planet).
Issue 2 of Doctor Zar crosses-over with Issue 19 of Alpha Squad and Issue 2 of Nebula Man and Issue #6 of Doctor North. In the issue Doctor Zar acquires a Transit Beam to reliably travel from his dimension back to our Earth.

ORIGIN

Doctor Zar comes from another Earth, one that exists in another dimension. Experts in Quantum Anomaly refer to Zar’s Earth as “Earth-Delta”, but Zar himself refers to his Earth as “Simia”.

Simia

For reasons unknown, the continental drift in Simia is much less prolific. This has left much of the planet as still one vast mega-continent, containing mostly jungle landscape and thick rainforest – and a thicker, richer oxygen atmosphere. This difference in environmental clime allowed apes to evolve much faster and readily than Sapiens (humans). On Zar’s Earth, apes rule, with a highly advanced society more technologically impressive than our own. Meanwhile, the humans of Zar’s Earth are still mired in the Cro-Magnon state and largely live in caves and hunt with crude weapons for food.

Other bizarre wildlife also exists on Simia, creatures that our Earth have never known or seen.

Rikti Invasion

Zar’s society is ruined one day, when the Rikti infiltrate his dimension and invade his Earth. Despite, the advanced scientific mind of Zar’s people, their lack of experience with modern warfare (they are largely a peaceful race) puts them at a massive disadvantage. They lose the war quickly and are soon subjected to mass-genocide. Meanwhile, the Cro-Magnon humans of their Earth are adopted as slave labor by the Rikti.

Travel to Our Own Earth

Only a small handful of Zar’s race now remain. Desperate for help, Doctor Zar infiltrates a Rikti command center and jury-rigs one of their dimensional transporters to arrive to our dimension.

His plea for help is adopted by Doctor North of Alpha Squad who provides him with shelter, technology and puts many of Alpha Squad’s top agents at his disposal.

Alpha Squad Member

Doctor Zar spends his first few months on the new Earth learning how best to fight the Rikti invasion, studying their weaknesses and become particularly adept at military tactics.

He also uses our Earth to fund and fuel a resistance movement on his own dimension. In return for the help, he provides Alpha Squad with advanced technology, particularly in the field of biology and medicine. He is instrumental in diagnosing the disease that affected Azalea Iris (issues 17 and 18), and is able to resurrect a dead body from outer-space that reanimates to serve Alpha Squad as a powerful agent (Nebula Man Issue 1)).

Previously, the transporter he was using could only transport one creature at a time. However, he believes a better more reliable transporter to his dimension exists here on our Earth, under lock and key at the Rikti War Zone. If he can somehow secure this transporter, Doctor Zar believes he can safely bring members of Alpha Squad directly back and from from his dimension to our own to help his resistance movement reclaim the planet.

On October 16, 2009 – Doctor Zar asks Alpha Squad to infiltrate the Rikti War Zone and steal this transporter to provide a permanent and reliable bridge between his world and ours.

Is Alpha Squad up to the task?
