Gothic Creed
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Affilations
- Rogues Gallery - Creed's former Villaingroup. Gothic Creed continues to have awkward, and usually violent, run-ins with the Rogues.
History
Rusty's parents foresaw (literally "foresaw" it because Rusty's Mother was a Psychic clairvoyant)great potential in him: He had a volatile temper and short patience. These attributes combined with his pyro-arcane abilities laid the foundation for the Villain he was to become. However, molding a Villain is a difficult process and his parents tried their best; in making a monster you need to strip away the humanity. And Rusty never really lost his - He always wanted the childhood that was stolen from him. The innocence that he held onto ultimately saved him.
On a mission of vengeance against a family member that was double-crossed, he took pity on a young, red-headed boy that reminded him of the boy he was before his parents made him into a monster. That single life saved, set him on the path to redemption.
Unfortunately, redemption is a rocky road. Sometimes your creed is all you have to keep you from tumbling over the edge.
What happens when villainy is all you've ever known? Well, sometimes...Sometimes you slip.
Personality
Creed is prone to outbursts of anger and sharp instances of sarcasm. He tends to turn inward becoming withdrawn and silent; Gothic Creed is consistently battling his inner demons. Being raised a Villain is difficult conditioning to surpass. He is constantly torn between doing what is right and doing what is easy.
Gothic Creed's approach to justice is subsequently skewed due to his upbringing as a Villain. His methods could best be described as "the ends justify the means." He desperately wants to do good and be seen by the public as a true Hero. Unfortunately, the public sees him as little more than a Vigilante and not worthy of the company of such notable Heroes like Ascendant or Statesman.
Although considered by many to be introspective and socially inaccessible, Gothic Creed can be quite friendly and amiable when pressed. Creed can often be caught passing through Pocket D on "official hero business." Really, he is just looking for some friendly conversation and a safe harbour from his brothers and cousins; Pocket D is a well-known hangout for the Creed Clan. But, being a natural wallflower, Rusty tends to keep to the shadows and always leaves without speaking.
Powers
Arcane Fire
- Primal Fire Creed taps into an innate magical ability to control the ancient primal fire originally bestowed upon humans by the Titan Prometheus. Through careful concentration and invocation of specific phrases that he mumbles to himself in battle, Creed can even form powerful swords out of the flames.
Regeneration
- Rejuvenation Because the flames cause incessant burning to his hands and arms, Gothic Creed's body is under constant rejuvenation. Using ancient healing spells and artifacts, Creed can heal most of the burns on his arms. However, due to the inherently arcane nature of the primal fire his forearms will always bear caustic burns. Creed sees this as another path to redemption - The pain reminds him of the harm he once did to others.
Equipment
Black Wand
- This black metal wand feels cold in Gothic's hand and glows with dark arcane energies. Because of his magical abilities, the potency of its attacks are increased compared to others' usage.
Immobilizer Ray
- The Crey CBX-9 Pistol immobilizes your target in an icy trap. Deals some damage over time and slightly Slows the target's attack and movement speed even if they break free from the Immobilization. The Crey Cryo Pistol is extremely accurate, but it can only fire once every 25 minutes.
Sands of Mu
- Gothic Creed found some unique black sand on the beaches of Croatoa. Carrying it, he has the ability to deal a flurry of punches charged with the Negative Energy of the Netherworld.
