History

The Helm of Albion is one of a pair of enchanted helmets which were forged on the isle of Avalon in the same fires as King Arthur's sword, Excalibur. One helmet, known as the Helm of Britannia, is worn by the woman who became Britannia, the spirit of Britain, and binds her to the defence of the land. The other helmet, The Helm of Albion, is worn by Lord Britanic and binds him to the protection of the land.

The helmet has been passed down through the second eldest sons of the Farnsworth family in England for many generations, with Reginald Farnsworth being the previous member of this family to wear the Helm of Albion and pledge himself to the protection of the land. It was as Lord Britanic that he fought against the Axis powers during World War 2 as part of The Dawn Patrol. Unfortunately, Reginald only fathered one son and the helmet had to be kept safe until the next generation when Timothy Farnsworth, the younger of twin boys, was able to inherit its power.

Powers & Usage

The magic in the Helm of Albion gives the wearer superhuman strength and invulnerability, as well as protection against psychic and magical attacks, but this is in exchange for a powerful obligation being put on the wearer to become the protector of Great Britain. To aid in this obligation, the wearer may also use the magic of the helmet to contact and seek guidance from the Spirits of Avalon. These spirits are able to provide wisdom and information but always exact a toll for their aid, most often leaving the wearer of the helmet severly weakened for some time afterwards.

The wearer may call upon magic of the helmet to tranform himself and gain its power, however removing it does not immediately cause that power to be withdrawn. The longer the transformed wearer is without the Helm of Albion, the weaker he becomes, until all the power is lost back into the helmet. Similarly the wearer may dismiss the power at any time, being instantly transformed back into their old selves.

Appearance

The Helm of Albion appears as an ancient bronze helmet when it is not being worn, but becomes a shining helm covered with intricate carvings and seeming to glow with an inner radiance when its power is called forth. The magic of the helmet is also able to transform the wearer into a more heroic version of themselves.
