Lord Britanic
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Lord Farnsworth
Catherine Farnsworth (Mother)
Edward Farnsworth (Brother)
Elizabeth Farnsworth (Sister)
Reginald Farnsworth(Grandfather)
- Member of The Knights of Albion
Timothy was raised with the assumption that he would grow up to serve his country in the armed forces, as he was the second son of the family and it was his (slightly) older twin brother who would inherit their father's titles, responsibilities and estates. He did in fact spent several years serving in the Royal Navy before the Helm of Albion came to him from his grandfather. Seeing a more direct way to serve & protect his country, as well as being something other than "the other son", Timothy accepted the power & responsibility that came with being Lord Britanic.
The Helm of Albion provides Lord Britanic with both super-human strength and resistance. His body becomes bullet & blade proof, although he is still susceptible to blunt force if it is applied with sufficient strength. Lord Britanic is also given a degree of defense against psychic and magical attacks by the helm.
His magically enhanced strength allows Lord Britanic to leap several hundred yards at a time and jump upwards of six storeys without much effort.
Timothy recieved a classical education with subjects which included grammar (with Latin & Greek), rhetoric & logic, astronomy, arithmetic, music and geometry. He can play both the piano and the guitar, speaks French, German and Spanish with varying degrees of fluency and is an excellent cook.
Lord Britanic's power comes from the Helm of Albion and although he can remove the helm, the longer he is seperated from it, the weaker he becomes. Similarly, when he reverts to his human form, he is as frail as a normal human being.
The power of the helm makes Lord Britanic strong and resilient, but he can still be affected by viruses, poisons and drugs if they can enter his body, although his magically empowered constitution tends to deal with them quickly.
The Helm of Albion
As Lord Britanic, he wears The Helm of Albion, a magical artifact which grants the wearer incredbile strength and invulnerability in exchange for undertaking the protection of Great Britain. In addition to his great strength, the helm also allows Lord Britanic to call upon the aid of the Spirits of Avalon for knowledge, guidance or extra power, but this leaves his physically drained and weak afterwards.
Lodestone Brooch
As both Lord Britanic and Timothy Farnsworth, he carries a silver celtic knot brooch with a black lodestone at its centre. This is also magical in nature and allows communication between members of The Knights of Albion, as well as entrance to the "Ley Tunnels" which connect the physical world with their extra-dimensional base in The Lady's Castle.
Edward Uther Farnsworth & Timothy St John Farnsworth were twin boys born to Lord Edward and Lady Catherine Farnsworth on 4th May 1982. Their father was, at that time, Earl of Berkshire and so the boys grew up knowing the responcibility and expectations of rank. Being the older of the twins (by all of 30 minutes), Edward Jr. would inherit his Father's titles and so was raised and educated to fulfil that role. Timothy was always expected to support his brother and did not recieve the same attention, however he did not grow up a bitter child. His grandfather, Reginald, always showed the boy the greatest love and understanding, having been the second son to his father himself and watching as his own brother was groomed to become Earl.
While at the college, Timothy was a member of the his school's CCF[[1]] and went on to attend Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth to undertake training to become a Royal Navy Officer, where he later recieved his commission. He hoped to serve his country as Reginald had done and spent five years at sea, until a strange dream and a letter from his grandfather brought him home. It was at this homecoming that Reginald told Timothy that he had recieved also had a dream and that their dreams were a message from a mysterious figure, known as The Lady. His grandfather told him that The Lady was the spirit of the land and he had been told that the time was right to pass on the mantle of Lord Britanic. From a dusty chest Reginald took out an ancient bronze helm, wrapped in sheets and very old. This was the legendary Helm of Albion and he passed it, and the responcibility that came with it, to Timothy, who became the new Lord Britanic, Protector of the Sceptred Isle.
- Lord Britanic has a strong dislike for small fairyfolk, especially Dragon Chief's fairy, Gladys.
