Personality
Don't let his aristocratic drawl or womanizing fool you; Jack is as true and constant as the Second Law of Thermodynamics. He's been in Paragon city for about a year and a half now, and things in the City of Heroes have changed him. He's replaced his swords with technomancer implants, his knives with beams of dark energy, his naive world view with cool pragmatism, and his womanizing with... well actually that stayed the same. Wherever Jack is two things are certain. Number one, He's least wanted, and probably most needed, and two, violence is going to ensue. And, as always, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PLAY CARDS WITH THIS MAN.
Character History
Where to begin the story of the most unlikely of technomancers? Jack LeBeuregard was born on the Hampton Ferry Estate a little south of Baton Rouge Louisiana. His father died in childbirth, by walking off the balcony while heavily drunk. Jack was raised by his mother, who's family had owned the estate since before the Civil War, and the help. Jack learned to ride, shoot and fence at a young age. When his interest could be held he was a quick learner. He took advanced placement maths in high school and received perfect grades, not due to any love of the subject but because it made him a better game player. He studied the ancient classics from Aristotle to Shakespeare because a certain class of woman has always responded well to a cultivated intellect. And he learned to cook because the Head Chief (and a surrogate mentor) explained to him that the fastest way to a woman's heart is through her stomach, and at 14 he was very interest in women's hearts, or areas thereabouts.
He studied at the University of New Orleans for less than a semester before being expelled. A Dean's son became too friendly with a young lady and Jack stepped in to knock some sense into him. A second semester at Tulane University ended after an incident involving a Senator's daughter, a limousine, a case of really good scotch, and a 90 minute police chase. His mother despaired of him ever getting a decent education, or for that matter staying out of jail. A year in Europe ended in disaster, and to this day he is still not welcome in Lisbon. Jack LeBeuregard ended up spending several years in the seedy docks of New Orleans, getting thrown out of Jazz Bars and Gambling Dens, making himself independently wealthy with his card playing, making enemies and protecting the good name of women with his quick blades.
Along the way, Jack met a dancer named Valerie who was putting herself through college. Within a day of having met her, Jack had proposed to her and she had said yes. They were wed the day after he first met her. The LeBeauregard clan however, threatened to disown Jack if he did not divorce her. While he had always been an embaressment to the family, he had crossed the line by marrying a stripper. Jack, to his eternal regret, acquiessed and sought dissolution of his marriage, quietly and under very generous terms to Valerie. She threw the money back in his face and said she never wanted to see him again, among other hurtful but entirely truthful things. The experience changed Jack. No longer was he the arrogant trust fund boy he had been. He turned his back on his family, and made his own way in the world, no longer using their fortune to support himself. As an expert gambler and thief, his life was pretty sweet.
The sweet life all came to an end one night, in the seediest of bars in the seediest of docks, he entered into a high stakes poker game with a Technomancer and a woman named Veluta Lunata, the high ranking Fortunata at the time fresh from consuming her lover's soul. You wouldn't think you could pull a full house on a woman who could see the future, but LeBeuregard pulled it off, and won $5,128,520 in cold hard cash from one of Recluse's right hand women. Predictably, she didn't pay up, and a slight ruckus resulted. When it was over, he and the Technomancer were on the run from Lunata and a large band of Arachnos Soldiers. They managed to escape back to the Techno-wizard's hometown of Paragon City.
In exchange for saving his life, the technomancer, who's name turned out to be Gabriel, required Jack to perform 52 missions for him, one for each card in his lucky deck. For the Ace of spades, Jack was sent to Galaxy to thin the herd of clockwork. For the seven of spades he was sent to Las Vegas to take down a Council money laundering operation. Eventually he realized that the missions were more than a chance for a good fight, he was being trained for something. The seven of spades mission taught him how to be invisible in plain sight. The Nine of hearts taught him some must be sacrificed if all are to be saved. Not all of them were so high brow. For the 10 of Diamonds he assassinated a Rikti General, and it's only purpose was to teach him when to duck. Namely when something big and life threatening was directed at his head.
After a year in Paragon City, Arachnos had settled its debt and all 52 cards had been reclaimed, but in the struggle Jack was no longer the aimless wanderer he had been. He had a purpose now, even if he couldn't put it into words. Finally, the day came when Gabriel made him the offer to become a Technomancer, and join the struggle against the gathering darkness. At first, Jack declined. ((still a work in progress))
Personal Quotes
"I've been called many things. A scoundrel, a troublemaker, incorrigible, a drunk, a threat to public decency. Never been called a solution before."
"Hypocrisy makes the world go round. All folks are hypocrites, myself included. We all say there is a line we won't cross but in our secret hearts we know we would if the price is right. True heroism isn't being less hypocritical, it's just having a much higher price than normal folk."
"I know the 17 words to make someone fall in love forever. I know the 9 to painlessly say goodbye to a friend, the 11 to drive a man insane. But there are 4 little words, "What do you want?", nothing good at all can come from them."

((Feel free to leave your (low) Opinion of Jack if you've met him or his aliases.))
"His ego might kill him... if the others don't kill him first.. *sigh*" ~Raina Sylvir
"It's easier to just let him do what he wants. It'll save me the trouble of burying him in the back yard." ` Grimaulkin
"To be perfectly honest, I don't like him. He's always rubbed me the wrong way. Recently, however, I've decided to judge him on his actions, not necessarily on his arrogance. Based on that criteria....I still don't like him. Don't get me wrong, he's got a good bit of power, and even greater potential. But if he doesn't grow up and get some perspective, he's going to get himself killed, along with anyone unlucky enough to be near him. Candor compels me to admit that I'd regret that, if it happened. There's a good man in there somewhere, I just wish he'd make an appearance more often." ` Mindstryker
