((I can't for the life of me recall how precisely I went from this character's original concept of an Natural Invuln/Mace tanker to a mutant fire/fire tanker, but then again it's been almost two years since I rolled her up in her current incarnation))
Jen Rogers used to be one of the lead models for Future Dynamics until her mutation broke through. She was summarily dismissed and when the board told her in person that the remainder of her contract would be voided - on a technicality that only barely held water but would cost more than she could afford to prove in court - and that any attempt to challenge the decision in a civil court would force them to sue her for the money she'd already received as "damages to the reputation of our company", her temper exploded together with half the boardroom.
Fortunately, no lives were lost - and the short stint in a cell gave her time to think and contact a good lawyer. Eventually, an out-of-court agreement was reached that essentially had both sides dissolve all ties sans rancune: Future Dynamics wouldn't go after her for damages, and Jen wouldn't raise a big public issue about Future Dynamics' "Discriminatory attitudes in Future Dynamics bordering on outright racism" which would do more damage to Future Dynamics' reputation than they could ever recover from her even if the claim remained entirely unproven.
For causing property damage through careless use of metahuman powers, Jen was sentenced to anger management classes and 500 hours' community service -- and the court determined that registering as a hero and working with G.I.F.T. was acceptable in that regard.

Trivia
- Like most mutants, Jen wears a pair of dog-tags with an embedded microchip designed by G.I.F.T. in co-operation with the Paragon Medical Service. It can be read with a card reader that's standard issue to all paramedics, and contains a detailed summary of her biology, concentrating on how and where it varies from human norm and especially focusing on what treatments not to use. Surprising absolutely no one who knows her, Jen calls it her "GIFT card".
- Jen created the diamond in Misa's pendant after Infernal taught her how to. There are currently four people on the planet who know she can do this and none of them are likely to mention it.
- Jen has a weakness for the gumshoe detective film-noir movie genre, and when the mood strikes her, will cheerfully describe her current situation in a voice-over monologue style. She has lamented the lack of rain in Paragon at more than one occasion - she can still stand leaning against a streetlight with her hands in her trenchcoat pockets, but it just isn't the same...
- In a hypothetical Virtue movie, the part of Jen Rogers would require time travel in order to abduct Brigitte Nielsen from the set of Red Sonja.
