Personality
Liberty guard is known world-wide as the "Embodiment of Patriotism" and is best known as a staunch proponent of upholding the virtues of Truth,Justice and Freedom. He has been known to track any villain who breaks these virtues across even 5 international borders in effort to brin the villain to justice.
Some have said(behind his back mind you) that he is just an over patriotic zealot who waves a flag as an excuse to fight crime. This is far from the truth..as those he has rescued have nothing to say about him save his kindness and generosity. Caring to almost a fault...he will quite literally move heaven and earth to help those in need.
Never considering himself a leader...and more a follower he follows his team into battle, sometimes however when military groups are involved he unknowingly slips into his leadership role ingrained into him during WW2.

Besides his mighty fists and microwave vision....Liberty Guard has no official gear, save the comm-link and PPD radio.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Liberty Guard's weaknesses are far and few....in fact about the only weakness he possesses is his desire to help those in need. He will assist quite literally anyone, even buying a homeless man a meal at a local restaurant if he isnt off fighting crime somewhere. Sadly some villains have used this "weakness" against him and have gotten the hero in some death trap of their creation. Which usually to their dismay when he discovers the ruse he almost goes berserk ripping their base..and them to pieces.
Character History
David Trent was raised during turbulent times....his family never having much money forced David to take a job early in life...first delivering papers then a factory position at the age of 16. Then came an event that changed his life forever.....World War 2. David immediately knew his calling...faking his age and applying for the Marine Corp. he was accepted and began training arduously to be the best at what he could be. With dreams of patriotism and freedom he excelled in his posting...then came his fateful posting in the European theater.
Posted as captain of team stationed in Great Britain as guard of a military base there...his career seemed to not be included in the primary fighting about to begin. However things unknown to David were about to change his life forever.
In the states....with the assistance of Albert Einstein the allies were making progress in the development of America's first atomic bomb, which could end the war quickly. Einstein however did not approve of his work being used for such destructive purposes and worked on a side project in his spare time which might bring about the same result,...something he called Project Heavy Matter, a process by which a human being might be infused with heavy gravitic matter found in deep space and made nigh impregnable.
Einstein worked on his project for weeks...and on the atomic project as well, but unlike the atomic bomb he could never solve certain.."dangers" in his heavy matter process and ultimately shelved it.
A co-scientist found his notes and copied them and showed them to the generals heading the Manhattan project. The generals knew the bomb wouldn't be ready for the European theater and decided to give this a go instead. Ten men were selected to undergo the process...based on certain physical requirements. David was one of these men selected and like the other men given very little information on it save the fact that it would help the war.
So one dark night...deep in an underground bunker in the arizona desert...ten men underwent the process....only one man survived the destruction of the facility. Dazed and confused David climbed to the surface...and staggered across the blazing desert which would have killed any normal man. But David was changed, the process had worked on him and him alone giving him massive strength and resistance to damage not to mention near agelessness.The military picked him up soon after he staggered into a nearby gas station and whisked him off to a secret facility where David was informed what had happened to him by Albert Einstein who had recognized the result upon seeing the medical report on David. All of the generals involved in the project were courtmartialed and quietly sent off to prisons. The president however paid a secret visit to David and asked if he would give his incredible strength to aid the allied cause.
This was a dream come true to David...he could help the allies bring the war to a close and save millions of lives. The president informed him of the coming Normandy invasion and asked if he would lead the charge. Mrs. Roosevelt recognized an opportunity to boost the morale of the troops and designed him a costume to wear....one that would bring fear to the axis troops and give the allies a banner to fall under, it was at this time also that she gave him his name...and dubbed him Liberty Guard.
Months passed and finally the day had arrived, the ramp of the transport dropped and men of valor charged across the beaches towards the rocky cliff face....leading the way was the strongest man the world had ever seen....dressed in red,white and blue he flung gun emplacements and tanks aside like they were tin pop cans. Liberty Guard climbed the rocky face and tore the gun batteries from thier moorings when a mighty scream was heard coming from the axis line....a man dressed in grey red and yellow slammed into Liberty guard...throwing him to the beach far below. It was instantly noted by all there that this was a counterpart to Liberty Guard, created by the same process evidently stolen by German spies.
An hour passed as they battled, their mighty blows could be heard for miles, while on the fields above as night began to settle on the battle...an airborne glowing figure appeared and began flinging fireballs in all directions....it seemed that the axis had two super beings. The figure swooped down on the two figures below and shouted in German "fear not my compatriot...i shall defeat the capitalist pig!" and began to glow white hot.
In a titanic explosion that devasted not only the allied but axis lines....the figure detonated...a small mushroom cloud formed over the beaches turning them to glass. Waking and seeing neither of the two figures Liberty Guard once again picked himself up and began to climb the rocky cliff face once more to join the remaining allied forces in their fight for freedom and to go on to help the allies win the war in the pacific theatre after the defeat of Germany.
After the war Liberty Guards career was rather simple...he used his powers to help those in need...but seemingly there was a lack of super villains so to speak. Most of his great valor consisted of saving people from burning buildings, stopping runaway trains and the like....until.....
The 5th column rose from the ashes of the third Reich. Taking what was left of German stockpiles they began rear their ugly head and conquer the free world. Liberty Guard grabbed his cape and found a new meaning for his existence. He would guard the very virtues of truth,justice and liberty and make them his cause and fight back against these former Nazi's and guard the world from evil.
