The Tides of Change (Origins)
Miahuaxiutl comes from a tribal society that is split into seven primary tribes (the main religious center in Lake Texcoco and six other tribes living within the gulf of mexico) Although these tribes are interconnected through a series of tunnels and underground caves, they are united primarily through religion. Although they often fight similar enemies, they frequently conflict amongst themselves. As of late however, all of the tribes have been undergoing serious depopulation and economic stress. There food sources and supplies have been quickly running low, and has put stress on those remaining alive. The people have attempted to strengthen their religious beliefs and appeal to the gods for help, but these attempts have been unsuccessful. It feels as if the gods themselves have abandoned the people. Meeya has spent much of her life in devotion to her religious beliefs. She travels from her own tribe to the sacred center at Lake Texcoco once a year and has been actively religious within her own tribe for the past 150 years (she is 270 years old). Although she has never been a priestess, she became a mistress to a priest at age 160 in order to become closer to her gods. In the wake of these current problems, the priest became very ill. And though she prayed relentlessly and offered her own blood to the gods to appease them, he was still taken from her. After his death, she decided to travel out in hopes to find a solution to her peoples plight. For the past 20 years she has been traveling from village to village with no luck. Recently, though, she has begun to hear rumors of the unification of the tribes under the banner of fathom. So now she is determined to find this group, and appeal to them for help.
Emergence
Sojourn
Ultimately Meeya is hoping for help in what she believes is a religious crisis going on among her people. She wants to better understand why the gods have abandoned them and what can be done to ensure their return.
